Love this cafe but it’s very chilly upstairs, could do with some heaters for colder months. Also too many dogs allowed in when I visited last Saturday and children running around which made it difficult to hear my friend over a coffee.

Hiya, I really dislike giving not so positive feedback, that said I really want this business to flourish.
My fourth visit and not the best. The waitress didn't know what teas were in stock, managed to get that sorted but when it came to pouring the waiter didn't measure how much loose tea to add, I asked and he said he didn't know, after pouring hot water on the loose tea he immediately poured it into my cup, I had to ask him not to as it wouldn't have tasted of anything.
Every time I've visited I have not had anything to dry my hands on after visiting the toilet - it frustrating that this lets the experience down, plus the toilet roll holder was in bits on the floor, not a great impression.
During our visit the waitress was replenishing the clean cutlery into their holders, she didn't pick them up by the handle so anything on her hands would transfer to the part that people put in their mouth. We went to pay and had to wait ages to be served, it wasn't busy at all.
I'm really sorry, I can see how much love has been put into the food, bringing wholesome artisan baked goods to Chelmsford and I want to come back time and time again. Based on my last visit I hope that improvements can be made. The food was excellent and the take away hotcross buns were delicious.
Please don't take this negatively it's means to steer improvement, with so many places to visit in Chelmsford I don't want this place to be affected.
