Frequently Asked Questions- How much does the Candle Experience cost?
- Our prices range anywhere from $30-$100, with our most popular containers in the $30-$60 range!
- How long does the Candle Experience take?
- It takes anywhere from 30-60 minutes, just depending on group size! Candles need to sit for a minimum of 2 hours before they can be picked up, so please plan accordingly :)
- Can I bring food and beverages in with my group?
- We do not allow food or beverages in the candle bar!
- Is there an age limit?
- We love pouring candles for all ages! Our suggestion for littles, however, is to have an adult to help with the process!
- Can I bring back/reuse my container?
- Absolutely! Containers that are brought back to be re-poured must be completely cleaned out (we recommend checking out some online videos for tips and tricks!) and you will receive $5 off your next pour. If you'd like to save your container and re-use it at home, we have all kinds of fun ideas; storage for pens/pencils, cotton balls, q-tips, table decor, makeup brushes, art supplies, and SO much more!
- Where can I park?
- There is street parking in the business district, using the pay to park mobile app or kiosks. Street parking is free after 5pm, and on weekends! There are also a few neighborhoods around that have free parking. We validate for The Kingsley Lot which is located next to Terra Restaurant!
- Do you do wholesale or private label orders?
- Yes! We love working with you for all kinds of wholesale or private label needs; weddings, celebrations, corporate events, business needs, sales, etc... Please visit our website at www.waxpoeticcandlebar.com or call the shop at 616-272-4693 for more information!
- What can we do while we wait for our candles?
- There are so many amazing things to do while you wait! Please ask your Scent Specialist while you are here for restaurant or shopping suggestions! We all love this neighborhood and are happy to share our suggestions and favorite places :)

I decided to take my mom to Wax Poetic as a Christmas gift. It was super fun making candles. We were the only ones there. I felt as though the process was super short and not very involved other than the scents – especially for the high price. It was fun and I love my candle, but one time in my life is enough! I'm grateful for the experience.

Wax Poetic Candle Bar never disappoints! This is my second time going with friends and we always have an awesome time! Lowest candle price starts at about $28 if I remember right, and there's plenty of more elaborate options to choose from. It takes maybe a half hour to make and then you can go shop around to other local shops while your candle sets. During this time, my friends and I grabbed a quick lunch! 10/10 experience.

I would suggest having a card on each table that has the steps so there is something to reference. Could be super simple like 1. Pick scent 2. Pick container 3. Mix scents 4. Wait for host to fill container with wax 5. Mix in scent oils and stir holding wick(s) up 6. Make label

The five of us had a great time choosing our scents and containers, sitting at the bar, pouring our candles, and enjoying the final product when it was finished. Wax Poetic is also in a great location for people to explore nearby shops while waiting to pick up their finished candles. Would highly recommend for a fun group activity! (I said "0" for food, but it should really be just "N/A." It's not a complaint about the lack of food!)

This was a beautiful place and the girl who helped us was really nice. We had a nice time and like our candles, it was just not what we were expecting. We had expectations set before we went that we would be there for at least a half an hour and for the candle making to be more of a class or educational type of experience. We were in and out in about 10 minutes. Not saying we did not enjoy it or have a good time! We did and we like our candles it was just funny how quick it was, but with that said the candles were a little pricey for the sizes experience.

I went to Wax Poetic with a group of co workers for a team building experience. The staff was exceptional and super friendly throughout the process. While we were there a newer employee was being trained yet we never felt like this took away for our candle making process. I, personally, liked the fact we were told the instructions step by step. Overall, this was a super fun experience for individuals, couples or teams and I would highly recommend Wax Poetic in Eastown.

The container selection was very limited and the prices were outrages for a candle that you could only scent the candle. You could not die the candle or put things in the candle. I wish you could have did more with the candle then scent it. But the place was very clean and elegant. They also had great service.

I had such a good time with my cousin. I thought it was cool. The only thing is the waiting of the candles to harden. There is nothing to really do while you wait so having to leave and come back was a slight inconvenience. But overall great idea! Loved my candle! I will be going back!

We had a great time overall. Ran into two opportunities for improvements. 1) Even though we had booked online and received a confirmation email they didn't have us on their reservation list. 2) There were two cats roaming about the store which isn't ideal for someone with cat allergies given they were sleeping on chairs guests use. It should probably be mentioned on the website. Possibly list as staff or mascots or store managers (lol). The other other thing would be more cleaning given the current pandemic and squeezing bottles under your nose to smell. I never saw the bottles cleaned or wiped before they were returned to shelf. Maybe even goto paper strips to smell/select scents then have staff bring selected scents to table so everyone isn't sniffing them.

We felt a little rushed and we were the only ones in there, however if the process is explained to us beforehand that we need to keep moving to get done within the hour, that would have been ok. Love my candle regardless and will continue to book because I love it!

We enjoyed the overall idea, but it was quite rushed for what we were expecting and for the price. We were in and out in less than 20 minutes. We were also crammed into a corner with a large and loud group that stood very close to us until they settled. A few suggestions for improving the experience:
- Spend a little more time with guests recommending scents that go together. Maybe a “menu” that provides a few ideas (e.g. pairs well with XYZ). We asked for a few suggestions, but the woman helping us admitted she was unfamiliar with the scents we were asking about.
- Coffee beans to clear your nose between smells.
- Once seated, explain more about the candle making process. Makes it somewhat educational and informative. It won’t feel quite as rushed this way.
