I discovered this wonderful property and restaurant while I was in the Cayuga area on business. Absolutely wonderful building, great staff and the chef is over the top! I had an absolutely delicious elk plate dinner accompanied by a chocolate martini to settle in and delicious red wine with dinner...I will return!

We had a fantastic time at Big Pete's Steakhouse!!! Our server was the best, very knowledgeable, informative, she even let us move our table to the one in front on the fireplace. The view was spectacular on a clear, blue sky evening, the course looks super. Our food was so delicious (I had the NY Strip peppercorn steak), beautifully presented and lots, that I could enjoy again the next day. And the dessert, what can I say, we saved room!! I would recommend the Peanut Butter Fudge cake. I will definitely be back

Service was outstanding and the setting/view also unbeatable. Appetizer (Caesar) was underwhelming, portion was good, bland dressing. Main course not outstanding, just good. This was our first visit to big Pete’s steakhouse. As soon as we walked in we knew we were in for something special. We were graciously seated by our hostess, and then promptly given menus and a wine list. They are very friendly waitress Bailey. We ordered a nice bottle of wine, the calamari as an appetizer, and we both had steaks mine was the prime rib and my wife had the pepper corn steak. Both cooked to perfection! At the end of the meal my wife was treated to the best complementary carrot cake she’d ever eaten (it was her birthday). We will definitely be returning.

Delicious Valentines Day menu. We absolutely loved the food. The appetizer we chose was a heart shaped baked brie with berries. I have had many iterations of this dish before but this was the best. The mixed berries were bright and had just the right amount of acid to complement the richness of the brie. The second course was Beef tataki for my partner and short rib ravioli for me. My partner really enjoyed his. My pasta was cooked perfectly but the dish was way too salty. I couldn't taste any other flavour. The short rib was a bit stringy. Our main was perfect. We shared chateaubriand surf and turf. Excellent beef, lobster tails and beautifully cooked vegetables. For dessert we each had the poached pears. Nicely cooked, not turned to mush as they often are. However the ice cream was so melted as to be just a sauce. Portions were very generous and we had trouble finishing. Overall, really tasty.Service was just adequate. It appeared to be understaffed and with new servers. My water glass was dirty and I had to ask to have it replaced. We both ordered the same cocktail but one came and not the other. We had to remind the server about the second cocktail and when she fetched it, it was OK but a bit watery due to ice melt. During the meal we asked several times for pepper but never saw it. Our used cutlery was removed after the appetizer (as it should) but we had to request twice to have it replaced while we waited with our second courses. The server seemed to think we should have kept our used cutlery for the entire meal. While we were about 1/3 through our main course, dessert arrived. The Kitchen Runner (?) realized they had jumped to the gun and took it back. Pete's Place is a lovely restaurant but I thought they might have decorated for Valentines Day since they were offering a special menu. It would have been nice to include a gift like a rose or a chocolate or something. Nice background music would have been appreciated.

I have to give it a 10. Have been there twice already and heading back again. Only restaurant that can cook a filet well done and it is, not burnt, but not extremely flavourful and juicy. Our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. Came around the table several times throughout our lunch to make sure everything was good. I ordered the Cesar salad which was fantastic, as well as the cheeseburger eggs rolls. The inside was pretty boring, just ground beef and a little seasoning. They call them cheeseburger egg rolls, so I assumed there would be some sort of cheese in the inside, which there is not. I would give that dish a 6/10.

I happened to have dinner at Big Pete's 3 times over a period of 7 days. My wife and I had dinner for our anniversary on Friday the 20th - we had excellent service and our waitress was Carry. She was amazing and very personable and all around a great waitress. We had an excellent meal - to the point of perfection. On Thursday, I had dinner with friends for a going away dinner for their son. Again, excellent meal, excellent service. On Friday, we had dinner with another couple - for what ever reason - things weren't as good as they were the two previous meals. Portion size for our meals was lacking. A few things were forgotten, and I tried the asparagus side which I found to be completely underwhelming. Again, my expectations were high due to past visits. We are steakhouse eaters. Your steakhouse is on par with anything in Toronto, and amazing - especially for our area - we live in Port Dover. Your wine list is extensive - and has several very reasonable choices. One major thing I would suggest for the restaurant overall, is, this. BTW, I totally understand employees are hard to come by - but something for the future. You should have someone (either the manager, or secondary waiter), go around and speak to the customers about the cuts of meat - most of your customers do not understand the significance, and rarity of the cuts that you have at your restaurant. We actually attended your restaurant back in July with 12 of our friends - I literally had to go around and explain each cut of beef, and what characteristics they have, and how rare and difficult it is to obtain these cuts. Really my only compliant would be that - and it's more of a suggestion in the future. Again, I'm totally impressed with this restaurant and will continue to go for special occasions.

Took my wife for a friday night dinner. She started with a salad which was large and had the braised short ribs/brussels both of which she said was excellent. I had the NY Strip medium rare/stuffed potato with the french onion soup to start. The steak while flavourful was under cooked and kind of small for a 12oz, potato overcooked and soup, while excellent flavor, searing hot and took a long time to cool down. We had the shrimps as well which were great and an excellent portion. Actually really liked them! As for the ambience, lighting could have been dimmed somewhat. Service, while friendly was inexperienced. Despite making the server aware of my wife's gluten intolerance the salad definitely had gluten in it with no mention made at time of order. Drink prices were very reasonable. Will we go back, probably....... it shows promise.

The first time eating at Big Pete’s and it certainly won’t be the last! Actually it will be our go-to steakhouse! The food was absolutely incredible. We were so impressed with the Caesar salad and then came the entree which was phenomenal….the Waghu steak, brussels and baked potatoes cooked to perfection. The desserts were decadent. Our server Kerri was marvellous and Mike the Manager was fabulous. Highly recommended. Nearly forgot to highlight the beautiful view of the golf course, just stunning! Kudos to the owner and staff (especially the Chef) for creating such a first class experience!

To the owners thank you for creating such a fantastic country club that is open to the public from the golf course to the pro shop to the dining areas it is really amazing to let people share the country club feeling, overall everything about monthill golf and country club is excellent

Unfortunately our waitress was very difficult an un informed I was displease that we had to rely on other servers to help us out she told us no substitute to the menu when I could see other tables receiving scramble eggs instead of fried ect. Rarely came to refill drinks food arrived cold long waits. Even though it was fathers day dining room wasn't busy at the time we were there.

The very nice hostesses was confused with our reservation, it was for on the patio. Limited choices of entrees, way overpriced, $10 side dishes, limited to 1 warm bun for 4 of us to split, then wanted to charge us $10 per extra warm bun. We were celebrating 2 birthdays and not even a free dessert . We were spending $300 -$400 on dinner and you want to nickel & dime us ($10) on buns? We will never be back for dinner or to play another round of golf. Thanks for a very memorable celebration, wish we had a do over. We wish you well and success for the future. We had such a super birthday meal at Big Pete’s on May 15, 2022. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The waitress kept up with our drink orders. She was very accommodating and kind. The food was delicious. The flavours made us lick our lips over and over again. Large portions. We took it home and the next day it still tasted fantastic. There were 9 of us in our party. We will definitely go back. Prime rib was so tender. I had asparagus with hollandaise sauce. Thanks for a great time!

Did not have a great experience for Mother’s Day brunch within big Pete’s steakhouse. It took us 1/2hr for a server to come to our table to give us a menu and ask for drinks. And that only happened because my boyfriend went and hunted down a waitress. On top of that by the time we received our first round of food that was supposed to be all you can eat had already been over an hour and by the time we had our second order it was already 2.5hrs in. Since the service was so poor and the time was incredibly lengthy we decided to leave. Overall for the service, it was a very poor dining experience. The place is beautiful and the menu was great, however new staff or more experienced staff would’ve made this experience a lot better and live up to the prestige of Monthill.
