A real hidden gem. Refurbished to a comfortably high standard, still with the traditional pub feel; warming fireside in the winter, pretty beer garden in the summer. The food is quality, traditional pub food with an Italian twist and a separate seafood menu. Also a comprehensive wine list. What’s not to like?

We have now eaten at the Royal Oak three times under the new management, each time has been excellent. Slightly more expensive than some other pubs with good food, but good value for all of that. Lovely people.

First time visit to The Royal Oak. We can only rate our visit as excellence. The staff were exceptionally attentive, helpful, swift to serve and take orders and happy to answer any questions regarding their fare. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the T-Bone Streak was perfectly cooked. We shall be returning often and will recommend The Royal Oak to everyone.

This was the second time we have dined at the Royal Oak under the new Management and we simply cannot fault it. The food is amazing, a great menu with something to suit all tastes. A good wine list and drinks menu as well. The staff were not only efficient but friendly and knowledgeable. The garden is beautiful but we chose to eat inside. It was immaculate and tables looked so inviting. There were not many diners inside which would I think have improved the ambience but that said I believe it won’t be long before word gets out that there is an amazing new restaurant in the area. We certainly will be back. Keep up the good work!

The greeting by our waiter was very welcoming. His service was good throughout. The main course was delicious but we had to pay £4.95 for each serving of vegetables. None were included. So effectively £10 was added to the cost of each meal.Also although both spinach and roast potatoes were tasty everything was cooked similarly in butter and garlic. The main problem was that we were cold. The new management had not worked out how to sort out the heating and no one was prepared to light the wood burner. We were eventually offered hot drinks on the house as compensation, To sum up, I imagine that once they have figured out the wood burners the ambience will be greatly improved and maybe the menu could be adjusted to include appropriate sides with each meal.

I remember the Royal Oak as being a typical pub with typical but excellent pub fayre. Now it is an Italian restaurant? Food was good as was service but lacked atmosphere due to time of day. Menu could include anti pasta as we only wanted a light lunch

Great service and atmosphere. Excellent outdoor pods. Felt menu could be a bit more varied with a couple of cheaper items. More vegetables with main and ice cream or cream with dessert. Just need extras with dishes as standard.
