Hotel staff very friendly and welcoming. We were given very nice tables with an amazing view. Two of us had catch of the day was Sea Bream which was cooked perfectly. One had fish and chips and the other had rib eye steak. Unfortunately both said that the triple cooked chips were overdone and not hot enough. Unfortunately I wasn’t made aware of this at the start else I would have complained.

My first visit for Sunday lunch on recommendation from a friend. We were seated in the “hall”? which upon arrival, felt a little soulless, having walked through a cosy entrance. Unfortunately there were quite a few dishes that were unavailable, which were all the fish dishes, which was disappointing for me particularly. However the mushroom burger that I chose instead was excellent as were the chips that came with it. My husband said the lamb wasn’t the best but overall the roast was very good and the kitchen coped very well and courteously with his garlic allergy. The service was excellent as always. Smoked salmon starter really good!

Lovely setting and location, the staff were friendly and kind. One of our party did not get her meal as the staff member taking our order forgot to place that part of our order, she had to wait for her meal until we had all finished ours, not ideal and although apologies were fulsome and frequent, no reduction was offered for this error. Having said that we would all gladly go back as the food was good and the location excellent.

We sat outside overlooking The Solent and the Isle of Wight. We chose four 'plates' of different sorts of fish, which were all cooked to perfection. The staff were lovely but drinks too a long time to come. The roast dinner was lovely, but the beef had a lot of fat on this. Considering we purchased 3 x beef there was a lot of fat between the three meals. The meal came to nearly 250, which I think was a little pricey. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff are so so polite. It was just a tad slow.

Lovely table with a sea view, staff very pleasant, personable, and helpful, very good customer service. Good value, nicely presented and tasty meals. Excellent menu choices.
You can’t be in a hurry here as it was a long and relaxed meal.

Starters were ok but nothing out of the ordinary. However we both had roast beef main course which was absolutely outstanding and could not be faulted. One of us had the ginger sponge pudding which was gorgeous and I had cheeseboard with a choice of three cheeses which were very tasty. The service was very good with pleasant staff who were attentive and friendly without being overly so. Would definitely return and recommend.

Over all we enjoyed our experience and would be willing to visit again.
Two of us were not able to have our choice of food but understand the difficulties of providing for all on a busy day. The mini baguettes we had with the camenbert tasted rather dry though.
My husband appreciates a traditional real ale and is not a fan of modern craft ales like many of his generation. His favourite is Fullers London Pride. So you might consider having a traditional ale available on tap .

Food & staff were excellent but the position of the tables at the end of the function room was very disappointing. We had expected to be in the lovely dining room with views across the Solent & had brought my elderly Aunt for Sunday lunch there because of that. It was a shame although the food was lovely as expected.

Excellent service. Very attentive. Only issue was they never gave us a childrens menu for dessert. Which is only a tiny issue.
My father in law found the roast beef too rare for his liking. It was cooked medium rare.
And it was a bit expensive for a pub in gosport. £185 for 4 roasts, desserts and a childrens meal.
