Founded in June of 1993, The Tavern on the Hill has evolved to become the Harrisburg area's prime restaurant for people who want a high quality dining experience. All of our food is prepared right in our own kitchen with the highest quality ingredients. Our passion is food. Our steaks and seafood can not be beat for quality, preparation and service. From the moment you enter until the conclusion of dinner, we want you to experience the quality you deserve. Our servers are prepared to make the time spent at the Tavern on the Hill one that you will remember. The quiet and subtle ambiance will allow you to have a great conversation while you enjoy a fantastic meal prepared by one of our chefs. You won't be disappointed.
Love this place. Love Vicki and Andreas and all the nice servers. The Kansas City steak and lamp. Chops are fantastic! The Manhattans are perfect!
Food was amazing.. could use a little more time and effort invested in dining area. Spent over a hundred dollars for a meal for two, could’ve been a little more impressed visually, but over all good place
Everything was a 10. Great dining for special occasions.
Great meal, service and ambiance
excellent as always!
We visit every so often and are never disappointed. Food is always excellent, and the waitstaff is top notch! (We would visit more often, but our budget doesn't allow it.) We'll be back for sure.
Very accommodating. We were an hour late for the reservations ( a mistake on my part) but because they were not busy, they still seated us.
Wow! Our party of 6 was very pleased with our experience. The food was great, the service friendly and attentive. We will definitely be coming back.
There we 8 of us as we were celebrating a birthday. Everyone loved their appetizers, meal and desserts. We waitress took extremely good care of you. We highly recommend Tavern on the Hill.
We had a wonderful meal, great service and a beautiful setting on the patio to celebrate our 28th anniversary
In this time of uncertainty, Tavern on the Hill has emerged as one of the best restaurants in the area. Outside dining is delightful, the food was amazing and the waitresses, waiters, and service staff wore masks with grace and comfort. Thanks for a fabulous Saturday evening !!
Food was excellent...would love to see larger portion...but if you consume all of the entree and the sides...its very satisfying
Prompt service and consistent quality of food.
Food was very good as was the service
We had a lovely evening for our wedding anniversary. From the wine to the dessert, everything was perfect! Thank you for making it a memorable night!
First visit in many years, and our experience was so welcoming that it was like we had been coming here for years! Our Server, Robert, was a delight and very attentive to our needs. Our food was fabulous. Please keep doing all of the great services from greeting to dessert that you are currently doing!!
We had a wonderful time
Steak was cooked perfectly. My wife had the walleye special an it was excellent
Food was outstanding. Very enjoyable outdoor dining atmosphere on a warm summer evening. Server was professional, attentive, and a pleasure to interact with.
Everything was fabulous!! We sat on the patio and the ambience and relaxing atmosphere was superb, as was the service and every bite was amazing!!
always enjoy our meal and service at the Tavern!
The drinks were excellent. The food was very good, but I was disappointed in my Mediteranean Vegetables, which were way to spicy, and the veal chop with "mushrooms," had only 2 slices of of a mushroom. Dessert and bread were perfect. We will be back.
The food was amazing. The music was interesting. Taking popular, upbeat songs and trying to replicate into classical music wasn’t good at all. Hearing beat it by michael Jackson in a classical music form was awful. I did think the music could have been much nicer. So ambience would have had a higher rating if not for the music. To set the mood for the beautiful atmosphere just plain classical music or whatever u call it would have been much better. Food was amazing. Server could have come to our table a little more but i know times are different now and I believe staff was short. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and i marked that in the reservations we made. Having them welcome us and saying happy anniversary would have been a nice personal touch. No one mentioned it or wished us a happy anniversary. Overall though the food was amazing and we had a nice evening together
Fans outside need a lower speed.
Husband ordered NY strip steak and was disappointed. It was a very "stringey" cut and not seasoned as in the past. Said the mashed potatoes were good!
Always a greAt experience.
There was no gluten free dessert.
We loved our meal however $13 for a martini is criminal.
Tuesday night there were only 3 tables in our room, which was good and safe. Waitress was excellent , very attentive. Food was tasty and subtlety seasoned. I would suggest however that in the time of covid the table should only be bused after the customer leaves. Just less contact that way.
They did not have my reservation. Luckily they had plenty of open tables
Second visit, after a birthday group the previous trip. Only downside was the pared down menu. Understandable, but should be listed as such on their website. The food was very good, as was the service.
Service was not to the standards I would expect from the Tavern. Dishes left on table for an extended period of time; waters left empty. Meals were good, but nothing to rave about. I’m hoping this visit was just a hiccup due to reopening after Covid.
The food was good but way overpriced.
They just missed the mark on making it a great experience. A lot of little things like dry gritty oysters, saganaki that waitress couldn’t light, calprese salad not as described. Overdone steak. Waitress not really professional. We were really disappointed.
We were seated at 2 person tables right alongside the path of waiters, waitresses, and customers going to and from the outside deck area. While all the waiters/waitresses wore masks, customers coming from the bar area to go outside to dine did not. That's not social distancing from those at these tables plus the location made for a very distracting dining experience. Waiter was very good and food was excellent. Reservation form asked if it was a special occasion. We entered it was our wedding anniversary. We did not note it was our 55th. Not one of your staff acknowledged our special occasion, so what was your point in asking? Recommend you take the question off the reservation form since no one at Tavern on the Hill cares anyway.
We were all excited to be out and understand it’s a learning process with restrictions Really only two criticism #vegetable broccoli was un edible , could not even cut a knife , poor waitress was freaked out when I touched her glove hand asking her not to clear plates while people were still eating . She actually threaten me never to touch her again and stormed off . I am a compassionate person and found the whole experience disturbing
