This was one of the best meals my husband and I have had and I’m a vegetarian. I had the cauliflower wings to start and they were delicious, as was my husbands chicken wings. He then had a steak that was cooked to perfection and my garden green burger was yummy. The drinks are also very nice and all priced very reasonably. The staff were also some of the nicest we’ve met and so we will definitely be returning.

I was a bit worried about some of the reviews however we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, the staff were attentive and friendly and the food was fabulous. Really good that my request sent when booking for a swift turn around, was immediately acknowledged on arrival which meant that we could fully enjoy the short time we had ... i found i relaxed completely. I was offered a creative alternative of mushrooms round my burger when i asked for no brioche bun which was really tasty. Food was great, wine was tasty and served well. Particularly grateful not to have to move my car immediately ... generally a Can Do culture going on. All felt hassle free ... I will be recommending it.

We had a patio table at the front as it was a really warm evening but would probably ask for a table a little further away from the road as it can get quite busy with traffic. It wouldn’t stop us returning.

Range of draught beers in particular could be better - only a choice of two and both were similar continental lagers. If I could change one thing that would make me visit more often it would definitely be getting a nice pale ale or IPA on as well (we have some great local options round here, Mad Squirrel / Tring / oodles coming out of North London!). Food was great as ever, not cheap but we do feel as though it’s good value for money - service wasn’t the fastest on Saturday but was perfectly adequate and staff are lovely.

I took my husband here for his birthday, as he's very keen on good steak. Starting with the positives, the wine, starter and main courses were lovely - we both enjoyed what we had. The gravy that came with my chicken was exceptionally good. The staff were attentive and service was quick. The downside was that the restaurant was very cold, almost empty and a bit lacking in atmosphere. I fully realise that 7pm on a Tuesday night is not going to be hugely busy, but it definitely could have been warmer in there. One other thing was an incredibly strong smell of scented candles or air freshener! It really was overpowering, which is not great when you're eating. I'm making these observations to be helpful rather than critical.

The restaurant was clean with a nice atmosphere, the food was nice and a very decent portion - however my partner got a different meat than ordered on the roast dinner when we questioned this the member of staff who took the order (believed to be maybe the owner as no uniform) stated that they’d ran out of the chosen meat and so just gave the other which was disappointing that they didn’t inform us and decided to make the decision on our behalf but the food and everything else was lovely.

Overall it was a pleasant evening. Service was a bit slow but that was to be expected given it was the first day of everything opening. However our desserts took an hour to serve by which time it was dark, cold and too busy. The staff were all polite and wearing masks but they did not enforce this for customers. We had the safari and they swapped out one of the meats without asking us first which was disappointing. The sides were all really tasty, but the peppercorn sauce was rubbish - far too oily! They charge you for a 10% tip without asking which I find rather rude, besides they missed out on getting a larger tip if they hadn't. It was nice but I won't be eating here again, it's a bit of a gimic.
