The downside for us, especially when we have visited together as a couple, are the larger parties. On this and prior visits there have been large parties dining at the same time and they are so noisy that we have been unable to hear each other and have a conversation across the table. Knowing that there were large parties dining when I booked would have been helpful, as I would not choose to dine again if large groups were near us. I have really loved it on the occasions when there were no large groups.

A wonderful dining experience - a beautiful restaurant setting with spectacular views across Scapa Flow. We enjoyed sampling Orkney gins before our meal in the lounge area.
We were warmly greeted and looked after very well by all staff members during our meal. Our food was just delicious in every way, finely presented and cooked to perfection. The ambiance in the restaurant was very peaceful and relaxed throughout.

If you might ask my husband for one of his favourite meals, it would be the smoked haddock in cream with poached egg for breakfast . He dreams about it! I would also like to say that all the staff we have met. There are lovely and the building is superb with all the wonderful views.

We visited the Foveran as a couple being given a gift voucher at Xmas. We had a very special meal. I had a peedie starter Orkney smoked Olives. This is a great idea as I find a normal starter too much. I had the fillet steak which was huge and cooked medium to perfection. My husband had the chicken which he thoroughly enjoyed. Special coffee to finish and tea with shortbread and fudge. The staff were efficient and very pleasant. The Foveran is such a beautiful setting we saw an owl and hen harriers in the field. If you want a special meal it's the place to go.

A lovely light filled dining space with excellent service and relaxed atmosphere. Food was very good, starters and mains, desserts delicious. Only quibble was the vegetables which accompanied the main course were meagre and dull in comparison with the rest of the meal. Staff were just lovely.
