The pies and ploughman's were lovely. I tried the Ham Egg and Chips and was disappointed. The egg was overdone to the point that it had a solid brown base and yolk was solid. The chips were hard lumps, surely frozen. All in all, we'll be back for the pies and mash, we'll continue to recommend the Victory Cafe but not the Ham Egg and Chips. We appreciate being able to bring the dog. I wonder if it's worthwhile offering a doggy menu for items such as chopped up sausage, mash, chicken, ham, peas etc. We would buy for the dog, up to £5-ish pounds, more often than not

I could only manage half of my lunch (shepherd’s pie) so asked for a ‘doggy bag’ to take the rest home. They packed it in a box for me and added some extra peas. I polished it off for my tea. Delicious! Thank you.

The family thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed, warm environment with no pressure to 'eat up' to make room for others.
We were all so full that we were glad the walk to the tram stop was downhill !!
We shall definitely be back.
The only pity was that the film wasn't running as we'd talked about sitting to watch it and relax after our meal.

Fantastic place, food is amazing, carefully crafted and well thought out. Staff are lovely, attentive but not pestering. It can get a smidge noisy, but I guess that's because it's so popular. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Fantastic atmosphere at the Victory but my only comment is that when it is very busy the acoustics make conversation quite difficult which is exacerbated if you're on a big table. I was with a party of 11 during a very busy, noisy service and the width of the table made it almost impossible for anyone to chat easily which impacted the experience of my whole party (first time visitors). They loved the food and surroundings but the inability to converse did put a damper on things. I appreciate this is not something easily remedied but thought it worth mentioning. (I was at the Victory three days later with a smaller party, on a quieter day, and it was brilliant!)

This was our first time at Victory Cafe & we will definitely be back.
It was very busy, being a bank holiday, which meant that we had to wait a little while for our order, but that was fine as the staff kept checking on us & were very good humoured despite being run off their feet!
The food was just what we hoped for: very tasty, hearty & homemade. I would have loved to have tried the lemon steamed pudding, but was far too full.
The cafe has a lively, friendly atmosphere - it allows dogs, which is a big plus for me - and I can imagine lots of repeat visits.

I’ve only given 7 for service because it was slow service however we were told at the beginning it would be at last half an hour before we were served food. We ordered two drinks and sat and enjoyed the great ambience. We love this place.. it’s not cheap but great fun.

Great venue, booking easy , service friendly & professional, table spotlessly clean and ambiance amazing . Food wise I was happy with my double egg and chips my eggs were perfectly cooked I asked for hard eggs . My son did not enjoy his ham egg & chips , he said the two slices of cold ham were not to his taste he did not like the cold ham with hot chips and was disappointed with one egg for the price point . My other son had the chicken sandwich which he really enjoyed and my other son ordered the ham sandwich I think it was ham which he did not enjoy and did not eat he said the meat was tough ? Overall I was happy enough they felt it was not good value . I will return as I like your venue … thanks

We both had the steak and ale pie and have to say it was one of the best we have had. The pastry was perfectly done and crusty, whilst the pie was stuffed with so much meat the gravy had to be provided separately.
The staff were very warm and welcoming and helped make for an overall good experience

Food was excellent as was the service and setting, the only comment was it took just over an hour for the food to come, which was a long time. A lady did say we wouldn't be long after about 45 mins but it was still a long time. It was worth the wait etc but I'm not sure if there is a way to make it slightly less of a wait, however, we did love it there and would go again.

The service was very slow but I think maybe you were short staffed. The girls were very nice that served us when they did arrive. Overall it was a very different experience will certainly book again. Well done for all that you have achieved at the Victory.
