My husband and I had a very pleasant lunch with the in-laws. The food was of great quality and taste. We had to keep reminding ourselves it was a Tuesday afternoon as it was very empty. Service could have been faster but we appreciate there were other functions going on in the hotel. The food was worth the wait though, very tasty. We all had something different and all left with full bellies. Thanks very much! Will have to come again and try your afternoon tea :)

My husband and I went back to The old well restaurant, to celebrate our 18 th wedding anniversary, as we got married at howfield manor. Lovely little restaurant, staff were really friendly and the food was delicious. Look forward to returning in the future.

Absolutely amazing food and service. Cannot fault the team or the food in any way. We had Beef Briscett - it was tender, succulent and full of flavour; the veg were done to perfection.
The service team were perfectly attentive, friendly and helpful, even including a fresh trainee and advising him while we were served.
Fantastic experience - have recommended to our friends and would definitely go again!

We booked very last minute for Mother’s Day and we were not disappointed. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. The roast dinners were hot and tasty with a good selection. They also presented each Mum with a pot with daffodils in when we were leaving. That was a lovely touch. We will definitely be back! Thanks again.

We had been warned that due to bad weather and Covid they were fitting diners in wherever they could and we were seated at a large table in the library like a private dining room. We worried for a minute that we might get a bit forgotten as the room was at the end of the building but the service was excellent with the waitress perfectly attentive, even though it was only her second day in the job. The food was tasty and good portions and we had a lovely evening.

A thoroughly enjoyable meal and all-round experience! I have lived in the village for over 30 years and can't believe we've never tried it before - we will be back and recommending to friends and family! Perhaps you could offer some local resident discount for daytime restaurant use on the Chartham and Chartham Hatch Village noticeboards? My only other minor suggestion would be to play some very quiet background music, e.g. monastic chant ambience such as: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ng9sSR7qBAE and possibly burn some incense near the front door, really promote the fascinating history which I enjoyed reading about on your website. Also, have you considered tapping into the 'pilgrim' trade more? E.g. 'pilgrim's rest'-aurant, offering eat in / take-away picnic options etc. Just some thoughts - we look forward to visiting again! Thanks.

We loved the experience. My food and my granddaughters were really lovely. The rack of ribs that my husband had were infact over cooked. Hi did eat them, they were tasty but very crispy. I know we should have mentioned it but didn’t want to make a fuss. Otherwise everything was lovely. Thank you
