Frequently Asked Questions- Do you show any sport events?
- No we do not show any sports here
- How do i make a booking?
- We accept bookings online through Table Agent. Alternatively you can email us with your request for large groups. On completion of your booking you will receive a confirmation email.
- Do I need a booking?
- We recommend making a booking if you would like a guaranteed table on weekends. We keep walk-in tables open and depending on the demand, there might be waiting time on tables. If you would like to book a table for a large group please email us with your request.
- How do I cancel my booking?
- If you need to cancel a booking, please do so via Table Agent or email with as much notice as possible. No shows may result in you not being able to book again in the future.
- What if I am running late?
- All tables later than 15 minutes will be considered cancelled, and the tables will be given to other guests if we have not received a phone call or email before your booking time. However, we will try our utmost to find an alternative table for you.
- Are you child friendly? Do you have kids menu?
- We are welcome children of all ages. Children have the option to eat off the kid's menu. We can supply high chairs, just inform us when you arrive or when making booking online. We also have a baby changing unit.
- Do you have vegetarian, vegan or gluten free options?
- We have plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans, and we try to cater for all other dietary requirements. Our front of house team fully equipped with information regarding different dietary requirements.

Staff were brilliant, they held our table as we were running late and delivered our food promptly so that we could make the theatre in time. Absolutely brilliant. The only reason I am scoring the food down is because the beer battered gherkins just didn't work for me and tasted, frankly, a bit weird. Like medicine. Otherwise the burgers were perfect, cheerful staff and a great selection of beers. Highly recommend.

Fabulous service as ever! Food and extensive beer selection great as always and our server knew the menu inside out. Gorgeous Malbec too. Staff super accommodating to our large group all with young babies. We stayed into the night thanks to our server extending our table time. Also very grateful for a changing table in the toilets!

I love going to the Axe especially for Sunday lunch
The staff are all wonderful and the food, ambiance and drinks are all great
We’ve never ever had a bad experience at the pub! I love it
The only thing that I’d love to see happen is that service charge is added to the bill or there’s an easier way to tip, and the staff get the tip, you all work so hard and are so lovely you all deserve it

Very unassuming dodgy pub vibe from the outside, which belies the welcoming interior which has been completely remodelled in the light industrial style inside (tiles, metal conduit etc), with a central bar, but perfect lighting and ambience. Also has a cosy courtyard at the back which helps keep the smokers happy and the combination of inside and out all has a good Feng Shui.
Great selection of beers which changes randomly. Food covers all the bases, from fishcakes to burgers but not too big of a menu. Had the Chicken and cider pie and mash, which was good and juicy and filling and comes with extra gravy.
Service was brilliant. Lovely smiley waitress from Sardinia, who never took her eye off the ball.
Overall great night out. Only warning being that it tends to be acoustically challenging when it gets busy, with the music and talking getting quite loud as it bounces around the hard surfaces.

Hey guys, just a quick note on yesterdays food. I'm a regular and always recommend your food/roasts. However yesterday the roast pork I had was disappointing, it was very dry and overcooked. I've had the roast pork belly a few times before which has always been exceptional.
Also, I know you are super busy on Sundays, but would be great to have another kids option other than roasts. The kids omelette and chips is always a winner with my little one.
I'll be back anyway - but hope this is useful.

Heya the folk at the Axe are always lovely - a few things could be improved though, the lighting is both too low and glaring at the same time, the acoustics / speakers in the front section makes it impossible to hear the person sitting next to you. And the gravy was like water (odd cos usually great with roasts). Fix those things and it’s a great pub :)

Great beers and good atmosphere, the food perhaps was not as good as we've had before there and arrived very staggered so half the group had finished before the rest received theirs, but this was not a problem really. The only thing I find is that the garden gets very smoky. Being a non smoker but leaving the end of the night with clothes and hair smelling of smoke isn't nice, although I appreciate it's outside...it's quite contained and sheltered so doesnt dissipate. For me, I'd prefer if the garden was non smoking as I see in other places especially when there are people eating. But understand others may feel different!

Food was good but I thought the portions were quite small for the price paid. Waiting staff were friendly but didn’t clear table when needed or offer dessert menu, for example. Felt a bit rushed and like they wanted the table back. I would go back but it wouldn’t be my first choice which is a shame because I love the pub.
