St. Patrick's Day Buffet ~ FAVORITE MEAL OF THE YEAR!!! The Hilltop does a great job and the food is so yummy! The price is a high, given that most people, especially my teen girls, cannot eat $30 worth of food. So, I save up. :) Had to schedule a different reservation time and could not cancel first reservation. Also, was able to schedule different dining time on Hilltop's website, but not TableAgent.

It was very noisy but not sure what can be done to control that. Service was good, food was excellent. Despite having a reservation, it was 15-20 minutes before we were seated but, understandable, given how busy they were on a Sat night. There were several large parties at tables. All in all, it was a great night and I have never been disappointed in my experience at Hilltop, having been there numerous times.

This was my 2nd time at the Hilltop, and a great experience! 10/10 on most items for this visit. My party of 2 was sat next to a table with a family, and there was a crying baby the entire time (1 hour). I know this is out of control of staff members, and I wouldn't want to deter families from visiting Hilltop, but it did negatively impact my own experience. Also, I would have appreciated the server pointing out the Huckleberry Old Fashioned on the cocktail menu. I had originally ordered a regular Old Fashioned as I had not yet had a chance to look at the menu when the server arrived immediately after we were sat down. Yes, I do have some responsibility in not reading the menu; but, it would have been nice for the server to bring my attention to that specialty drink (which is delicious!).

A table of 15 we were, with one of our guests extremely demanding (due to age). On top of it all, the restaurant was packed! Our waiter was able to manage all of it, including demanding Uncle David without a glitch. Incredible! And the food was outstanding. Friday night fish fry was introduced to my California relatives, along with deep-fried cheese curds and the cheese ball. The only ding would be in a couple of cocktails. People's preferences of course, but their Manhatten was mediocre. Don't forget to order desserts.

Our third visit. An appeal is the Hilltop's quiet environment compared to many places in and closer to Madison. They tend to draw loud and sometimes obnoxious people. We also enjoy the super club ambience. It's a bit of a drive for us from the NE side of Madison, but worth it. So far, we've only had Wednesday fish fries at the Hilltop, so will check out other fare the next time. Maybe steak or prime rib. The bartender (owner) and veteran server were very good.

This experience was our second one. This last summer we brought half the family and were thoroughly pleased with the food and service. So, I now brought the entire family for another great experience. All was great except for 2 of the steaks, NY Strip that was unusually thin in portion and a Ribeye that was too done. It wasn't a situation that we felt necessitated drawing to the attention of Mary, our server. Otherwise, the overall experience was consistently excellent as previous. We will return.

The fried Lake perch was just hollow breading!!! Virtually no fish inside. The small amount of fish inside was dried up. It was the worst fish that the two people whom ordered it had ever eaten. Would never order the lake perch again!!!
The fried cod was good, spicy chicken Alfredo good and the broasted chicken good. French fries good, cheesy brussel sprouts good.
Wine pours seemed kind of skimpy for the price.
We've all had very good food there on previous visits, but this was not up to any standard.
