We had booked via the website but it was quiet the morning I visited. We were served quickly in a friendly manner and the today and jam was very good with hot chocolate. The room was rather cold, I slipped my coat back in after 10 minutes.

It is always so good to be eating with Bake and Roast. The food is superb and always well presented. The service is excellent and the staff friendly and always welcoming. It is my first choice place to eat unless I wish to have a change which is very occasionally. First class. Would always recommend it to others before other eating establishments.

Had to postpone my visit so contacted owners who kindly acknowledged, so met a friend there on Wednesday. Although the menu was limited and I understand why, we found enough to choose from. I tried the famous sausage roll which was delicious , followed on by the special cream scone. Very well presented and my only "negative" would be that there was little room on the wooden platter and I would love to see cheese scones.

Thoroughly enjoyed lunch. Definitely come again perhaps for breakfast menu. Being picky -“Ambience” would have been 10 if table wasn’t in full sun. Appreciate that blinds wouldn’t be in keeping with style of the Hall and blot out the lovely view. Perhaps summer/winter positioning of tables?

Our lunch was lovely, I had a tartine & really enjoyed it. Coffee was good. All staff were so lovely, helpful & friendly.
Minor downsides: service was rather slow (it was quite busy) & the cakes were a bit disappointing, mine was a bit dry & bland & the lemon cake had way too much thick sugar crust.
Overall, it was enjoyable and we will eat here again...Will have the carrot cake next time, my friend said it was beautiful

Great service, delicious afternoon tea. My one complaint is, we asked to take the leftover home (as there was plenty and it was delicious). They boxed it up no problem but all the sweet and savoury in the same box, didn't put the jam for the scone in. But this would not put me off going again. As i said, the food and service amazing, just a little more thought needed when boxing a takeaway up.

However, I felt the bread that the bacon was served on could have been better or an option to have a barm cake or ciabatta option as the bread was a bit flimsy and tasteless. For £5 expected a bit more substantial bread/bun. This would not put me off going again though.

excellent food in a lovely setting, a warm welcome and friendly staff. Good service and a relaxed atmosphere. The noise of the coffee grinder/machine was an unwelcome distraction. The musical selection did not seem to fit the historical house setting. The price of £3.50 for just ONE small slice of toast with marmalade seemed excessive, stingy even, especially compared with the excellent sausage rolls.

All very nice place but a bit pricey. I had what amounted to a slice of toast with avocado and tomato plus 3 or 4 potato wedges. £ 12 .50 -not great value I thought. If I am comparing this with beer battered cod, chips mushy peas and tartare sauce for £13.95 (that's just £1.45 more) at Bob's Smithy I think the fish and chips for example are much better value.

Having been a customer of Bake and Roast at their shop, I could only assume a tearoom would be just as good! The food was wonderful, service was top notch, great selection of drinks, and fab cakes! Would recommend to anyone - but you must book first!

Lovely setting but the brunch menu seems a bit short in terms and there need to be more veggie options, some egg dishes, croissantes. Coffee was OK but not memorable and the slate plates were an irritant- food slides off. Sausage roll was nice and the bacon roll was liked

Hi , we loved the brown bread muffins but found the white ones had too much bread for the filling. It would’ve been nice to perhaps have been offered a choice of sliced bread. There was not much chicken in my chicken sandwich and the cheese one was very sparse. Also, the soup was delicious as was the little cheese stick the salad trimmings were nice and fresh , and the scone was delicious , whilst the carrot cake was very tasty, we didn’t get a choice in the cake and we only got the one cake between two of us. Some of the other places we have visited have given us three tiny cakes apiece which I prefer and as you have such a lovely variety of your gorgeous home-made cakes. I feel you could perhaps do this also a little cheese biscuit, was tasty the shortbread biscuit was so so, the sausage roll was delicious and we had two pots of lovely tea. Service was beautiful and the owner is very handsome. The burgers you were doing on the next table looked absolutely beautiful and we shall certainly be calling back to try them. I asked you for beef and you said you had to stop doing it that day. Well I’ve had your beef many times before and it is exceptional as are most of the things you do. perhaps if you put that it is home-made the menu people will buy it and once they do they will be a customer for life. I could see you were very busy and you are obviously making a lot of people very happy. I hope you take what I have said in the spirit of constructive criticism, as I wish you both the very very best in your venture, and sometimes when we ask people what we can do better, they don’t tell us the
truth as I found out with my café , as they don’t want to hurt your feelings, we should certainly return to your beautiful Cafe . Best wishes
