Excellent tasting experience. The 2 of us got the first night of the new menu again and that's always interesting.....this time I really liked the mix (just the soy ravioli bit strong for the fish) but the second person was not keen on a couple of dishes a bit packing in strong flavours. That's the joy of a tasting menu to get different things and you never know.....

Terrific. Having been to McLeod 9 at Spring Cottage I was really looking forward to experiencing the new Spread Eagle venue. It’s clear a lot of thought has been put into the decor, everything was very tasteful. The food as always was top notch. If I was being super critical, the only thing that could have improved the meal would have been a bit of bread to mop up but otherwise it was faultless. Staff were well trained & very knowledgeable. Looking forward to our next visit

The only improvement is for your signage at the bottom of the drive. It needs lighting.
In winter nights in pitch black with no street lighting to see we drove past twice.

Fabulous food and great staff and lovely ambience .I understand why but I would have preferred a little more time between courses .We opted for the wine flight and I didn’t get chance to savour the glass before the next course and glass arrived .We did manage to slow down the final course .This didn’t affect the evening which was lovely but I do prefer a longer time with a tasting menu

Our first visit, loved it and cannot wait to go back. Food is super tasty and really good value for the quality of dishes you get. Top food and top service from the 2 front of house staff who were perfectly efficient, friendly and informative. Whole experience was perfectly paced from start to finish.
Fine dining food and a rare treat in this particular region. Whilst we are spoilt in the North West as a whole, it normally involves travelling 45 mins+ in all directions (for us) to get this sort of experience.
Only slight criticisms, we felt that the size of wines given as part of the wine flight were potentially a bit on the small side (albeit, very good). Prices looked similar to the wine that could be bought by the glass, but they were much bigger glasses.
Was also left wondering if the food portions could be a fraction bigger - although was it more that it was perfectly balanced and we were just missing the feeling of being bloated like we had gorged ourselves to a near coma. Regardless, we are definitely going back again!

The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The new venue is great and has a nice feel to it. Country pub vibes. My only suggestion to improve would be the waiting staff. They were all really lovely and knowledgable about the food etc but we kept getting interrupted which got a bit intrusive. When we were still eating - coming up to say - oh you’re still eating I’ll come back. No need to interrupt our conversations really - a quiet walk by should be enough to see we are still eating. Maybe a bit more training but like I said they were lovely. This would have made the experience better for us.

We loved it - so much so that we have already booked again for April. The food was delicious and beautifully balanced. The wine flight worked perfectly and included some more unusual choices. Collette and Jen were wonderful hostesses - passionate, knowledgeable, fun and attentive. I have to say I have been to many restaurants for their taster menus and this matched, if not surpassed many of them. The cosy setting added a touch of warmth to the overall dining experience,
making us feel right at home. What truly sets Mcleod 9 apart is its exquisite set menu, a culinary masterpiece divided into four sections and snippets: the ground, the sea, the land, and the forest. Each course showcased a harmonious fusion of flavours, textures, and presentation that demonstrated Michelin Star quality. The meal began with delightful snippets that served as a prelude to the culinary adventure awaiting us. The attention to detail and the playfulness in the arrangement of flavours was evident from the very first bite. It was a testament to the chef's artistic vision and culinary prowess. Fantastic food, as always. The snippets on the November menu were delicious. To be fair, everything was delicious. Was a little disappointed that the Amarone wasn't available, but the Shiraz was an excellent alternative.

This was our second visit to Spring Cottage and it didn’t disappoint. Our first visit was in the summer and we watched deer outside as we ate our delicious food- extremely charming! This visit was in the cold and dark but a lovely warm room with a log burner welcomed us and the food was outstanding yet again. We also enjoyed a wine flight with our food this time which was really well matched and made the food all the more enjoyable.?Please don’t hesitate to book, you won’t be disappointed.
Could do with a light over the Spring Cottage sign at the end of the road and turn the lights up just a tad in the room - difficult to read the menu or see the detail of the food in the dark!!

The ladies who were front of house were excellent. The wine flight was also very good, and nice to have smaller measures so that those who are watching consumption can also imbibe.
The food generally was very good. The pumpkin ravioli in particular was excellent. We just felt that the main course and dessert could have been better. The belly pork top layer was not crispy and the pork loin was a little on the tough side. The apple on the dessert was really hard and difficult to eat, and the sauce just melted everything together. Flavours were good though. We would visit again. Overall, value for money was about right and the cost of the wine flight was OK.

It's taken us a long time to find that one very special place - and this is it. From the second you walk through the door, you know you're in good hands. The tasting menu is just exquisite. The combination of flavours, on a menu which changes monthly and uses local produce, is superb. The staff are friendly yet incredibly knowledgeable and Joe and his team cook the food to perfection. Have loved every visit.

Our First time, and it did not disappoint! Absolutely Amazing, staff were very knowledgeable and we went with the wine pairing, again fantastic. We got married at Spring Cottage so we of course love this setting, but have never been at night. (This swayed us even more to come and try this)
