Frequently Asked Questions- What is the dress code at Oak & Grain?
- We do not have an official dress code, and we want you to be comfortable here. Many people visiting our restaurant are on vacation and dress accordingly. For the most part, our guests tend to dress business casual.
- We heard you offer a prix fixe 5 course dinner. Do you offer an alternative?
- We changed our format back in the spring of 2020 to an a la carte menu. Now you can reserve a table when you'd like to dine and choose off the menu what you'd like to eat. If you only want an entree, no problem! If you miss our 5 course format, we do offer it as an alternative, which also allows us to offer wine pairings with your meal.
- Do you still offer a cocktail hour?
- If you'd like to enjoy a beverage on the lawn or in our living room prior to your reservation, we are happy to serve you. If you have a reservation to dine with us, please arrive before your reservation time to allow for a relaxing cocktail before you are sat.
- Why would I choose the 5 course vs. the a la carte?
- This depends on your own preferences! The 5 course is a prix fixe menu, where you have choices for most of your courses with the exception of the Intermezzo. The format allows us to pair wine with your meal, as we know your courses ahead of time. It is something many of our long term guests enjoy as it is reminiscent of our past signature experience. That being said, if you are not sure what you will want when you arrive, stick with the a la carte - our menu was designed to be coursed out!
- I’m a vegan with a gluten-intolerance. Will there be something for me?
- We got you covered! If there is not something on the menu that suits your dietary needs, our culinary team is ready, able and excited to make something accommodating for you that lives up to the reputation of all our menu items.
- Are you open to the public, or only to inn guests?
- We are open to both! We love to have our inn guests dine with us, but we are equally happy to see our neighbors, friends, new friends or travelers staying locally. We offer a wonderful, personalized experience we are eager to share with you!
- I would like to sit at a specific table. How do I do that?
- Due to the nature of our restaurant, we are unable to guarantee specific tables. Let us know your needs when you reserve and we will do our best to accommodate you. However, we design the tables each night based on the current reservations to allow everyone to have a nice experience. We do assign tables in the order the reservations are made. Occasionally, due to size, you may be limited to a specific table.
- I am interested in hosting an event at Oak & Grain. What do I do?
- Send your requirements to [email protected] and we will get right back to you! We host events of all shapes and sizes and are happy to speak with you about your needs.
- Will Oak & Grain be serving on the Patio this summer?
- Yes! Our plans are to open the Patio for Memorial Day weekend, when the weather is reliably warm. Please be aware that the patio is not covered, so if it is raining, the patio will be closed. Unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee indoor seating in case of rain, so please plan accordingly.

This was my second visit to O&G, it was as good as recall from the first visit. I just loved my table by the window overlooking the frozen lake. Just as picturesque as the unthawed lake I saw on first visit. The Blood Orange martini, Red Snapper, and freshly warmed infused bread were all tastefully done! I look forward to my return visit.

We had a really great time at dinner. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was well prepared and while I expected smaller portion sizes, they were a little smaller than I hoped for on some dishes. The salmon pastrami for example. The fish portions were decent but I happily would have filled up on a few more of those potatoes :) We did also really enjoy the bottle of Gamay on the menu - it was nice to have on offer something a little different available.

Being new to the area it was our first time at Oak and Grain (O&G), but it most certainly won't be our last. O&G is a lovely restaurant in a lovely inn, and the food was fabulous. It's so nice to be able to enjoy a fine dining experience in an unexpected location. We last dined out at Pine at the Hanover Inn, and the food at O&G blew Pine away - it wasn't even close. Definitely worth the trip to Pleasant Lake Inn to dine there and can't wait to go back!

Farm to table with a fine selection of locally sourced items on the a la carte menu (a tasting menu is also available). Our server was friendly yet professional with helpful explanation of choices. My wife and I enjoyed our dinning experience 5/22/22 .our waitperson was attentive and knowledgeable, the Al la cart menu worked with a variety of choices and sauces. Wine list was sufficient, however only a few glasses of Chardonnay left but the savion blanc was fine . The chocolate cake was suberb. Well worth the hour drive to dine . Will definitely return

We had a lovely, romantic dinner at Oak and Grain. The food, as always, was first-rate: local, fresh, and creatively prepared. And the restaurant's location and charm cannot be beat. It's always a wonderful experience. My only suggestion might be to broaden the wine selection. We love Spanish reds and the Rioja could be options were limited. I ordered the kofta appetizer and hanger steak and my husband had the scallop appetizer and filet mignon. All were delicious! The only thing I didn’t like was the curry sauce (too heavy/spicy) but I got it on the side and the waitress brought me a different sauce. Service was very attentive but not intrusive. Prices are high so we only visit for special occasions.

I don't normally do surveys like this but our experience was so amazing I have to post. Our server was so professional and attentive especially given my food allergy. The table setting and ambiance was romantic and lovely. But the food was beyond amazing, creative, tasty from start to finish. I am still dreaming about the special soup that had a coconut curry to it. Even the desserts have a different flair on a New England favorite like my husband's cheese cake. Hats off to your chef! Service was wonderful. Food was very good- but all dishes from soup to main course were very salty. Three out of 4 of us noticed that. Wish there was a way to incorporate less salt; it overpowered what would have been delicious flavor.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner at Oak & Grain. Our server was friendly and helpful. Drinks were very good and quickly served. For appetizers we had the local salad (good, but a little unimpressive) and the pork belly (amazing and a huge portion) and then the filet mignon (tasty) with delicious potatoes and the cod (flaky and really tasty as well). We did not have dessert. They have a nice wine list. Overall, this was a real surprise as the restaurant serves from the Inn at Pleasant Lake dining room, which has a lovely view but not much in the way of ambience. If ever in the area again I would definitely return.

This was an excellent place to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We loved our server, Martina, and enjoyed the view of the lake and mountains. The food was perfectly prepared, and the pinot grigio we ordered was outstanding. We will come back the next time we're in the area!

Hi. We were expecting to be able to have a mix of breakfast and lunch items during our brunch. The prix fixe choices were very nice, but, for example not being able to combine a bit of beef with the pancakes was a surprise.
Loved the service and the ambiance.

Nice location. Service a bit slow...I like my coffee with my dessert, which never showed up until 15 minutes after I had the coffee..never offered a second cup. Food is wonderful, but only 3 green beans for the vegetable..come on s/b at least 6!!!! Everything very tasty, quality excellent, ambience great.

Need more veggies. Only had 5-6 green beans and only a few fingerling potatoes. Carrot soup was tepid, sent back, temperature fine when returned. Sauce on my salmon and different sauce on beef tenderloin was bland.

I loved my hangar steak, but my husband thought his steak should have been much more tender. It was fun seeing the wedding people in the other rooms! By contrast I thought the dining room was somewhat cold and stark (the Christmas tree was behind me). Waitstaff was fine. ALWAYS wonderful to be greeted by Lisa!
We were there earlier than ususal, maybe more festive when more diners are there.

The food and waitress were great as usual. Although there was none on the menu, I was able to get a cheese plate for dessert.
I thought the appetizer and main course should have been hotter when they arrived.
The online menu and wine list are out of date on the website.
I've stayed at the Inn four or five times. The Inn is nice in a pretty location, but I really return for the food.

The salad dressing seemed to be all vinegar, bread was average; the lamb was delicious, but the olive oil cake was way overpriced for the small piece served, $12.00 for a sliver of olive oil cake! Ambience and service were a 10.

The menu is organized like a mix and match deli - you choose a protein, then choose a sauce. At this level of dining I expect individual presentations of dishes.
This set of choices puts the puts the food on the level of a sandwich shop.
The last time we we there, several years ago, the chef gave a 20 minute presentation on our meal before it was served. I can't imagine a bigger contrast in presentation.
