We are a modern tea room set in the stunning grounds of Ketteringham Hall overlooking the lake.

We currently have 22 seats inside and 28 on our beautiful heated and covered terrace, each table having the benefit of a heater through the autumn and winter.

Breakfast - 10am until 11.30am
Light lunches from 11.30am
Afternoon teas from 12 noon.

Booking is highly recommended and tables are booked on a first come first served basis.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! We have use of the Ketteringham Hall car park for our customers, please note there is a short walk (approx. 200 meters) from the car park to The Orangery.
Due to the historic and unique nature of the building there is currently no wheelchair access to the tearoom, although we will endeavor to assist those with mobility issues wherever possible. There is an approximately 200 meter walk from the car park to the Tea Room, half of which is on a loose gravel surface. However if you need to be a bit closer, let us know when you book and we can unlock the gate to drop off closer to the tea room to shorten this walk.
No, due to the demand we have for tables and table bookings, we can no longer offer a takeaway service. To ensure all our booked tables can have the best experience possible.
Yes! Visit the shop page on our website to see and order our full range of vouchers. Available as physical or email vouchers. Please note, vouchers can not be used on Mothers Day. Physical vouchers will be sent 1st class on the next working day, email vouchers will be sent within 24 hours of receiving the order.

Our Afternoon Tea changes throughout the year, in 2025 we offered 9 different menus across the year celebrating our suppliers, as well as offering our Mothers Day Afternoon Tea, Little Lifts charity Afternoon Tea and of course our Christmas Afternoon Tea. We will always to our best to accommodate for different dietary requirements. We offer gluten, dairy free and vegan options on our regular menu, however if there is something in particular you would like when you visit, please let us know beforehand and we will do our best to accommodate. Our Afternoon Teas are designed to be adaptable to ensure that no matter the dietary requirement, your Afternoon Tea will look and taste as close to the standard one as possible.
Yes, dogs are welcome on our terrace in the spring and summer and in the heated marquee in autumn and winter. Dogs are required to be kept on a lead whilst on the grounds of Ketteringham Hall and at the Tea Room.
Only booking amendments or cancellations which are given at least 2 working days/48hours before the intended booking date may be accepted. Bookings placed or cancelled on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays will be treated as having been received on the following working day. To cancel bookings, please call 01603 559224. Table deposits and large booking deposits are non-refundable in the case of cancellation within 48 hours of your scheduled booking, exceptional circumstances will be considered.
For Mothers Day, due to the significantly increased demand for bookings, a minimum of 1 weeks notice must be given for cancellation. Bookings cancelled within 1 week are non-refundable unless the table is able to be resold. Exceptional circumstance will be considered. Large bookings (10 or more) must also give no less than 1 weeks notice for cancellation, your booking deposit is non-refundable in this situation.
Yes, absolutely. We understand that sometimes things happen that are outside of our control, we will always endeavor to move your booking to a later date, subject to table availability.

The orangery team are really lovely and ensured dietary requirements were met and upon leaving one of the team came after us to let us know we could bring the car down so mum didn’t have to walk back to the car park (it was a hot day), so thoughtful, thank you

Loved the experience. The food was devious and fresh. The waiting staff were polite but I feel that they could have explained the system better. Eg we had a wait before the food came out which should have been explained when we sat down. Eg 'your food will be with you in about 20 minutes'. In addition we weren't asked once if we would like another drink (of the bottomless drinks that came with our afternoon tea) after the initial order was taken. We had to flag down the waiting staff.

Delicious afternoon tea, the sweet tea was very good with a nice mix of items. It was so nice not to be overwhelmed by chocolate cakes. The savoury tea was superb. The scones were delicious and what a great idea to have a baked Camembert included. It was a celebration for our party and was a really nice experience. I’ve been to the orangery several times over the last few years. There is often an older lady with blond hair serving, I have to say, she’s never been particularly pleasant. Making you feel like you’re being difficult and making her job hard. Our visit on Friday 11th July was FANTASTIC! The staff couldn’t be more helpful, I brought a family with me with 3 young kids 6, 8 and 10, the food and service were outstanding. What a difference staffing makes!

I love visiting the Orangery but unfortunately we did not find the food upto standard this time.. The cheese scone tasted sweet and was rather hard to eat so I actually left some and my friend was told the wrong Quiche flavours.. she still enjoyed it but it was very different to what was described and ordered. The most amazing afternoon tea. We had the sweet one. Sandwiches beautifully fresh, cheese scones very light & tasty, fruit scone delicious & the desserts all had a mixture of different flavours all decorated with lovely spring edible flowers. This was booked by me at suggestion of friend as really her guest as my birthday celebration. We enjoyed walking the grounds beforehand and found the atmosphere inside and out lovely. Very attentive staff with more food than we could manage, so grateful to take away for next day. We booked the afternoon tea for a birthday celebration (2 ladies) and both had our nearly-2 year olds with us. We sat in the heated terrace and our toddlers were entertained for the entirety of our time there just by being outside, it was fab. We shared a savoury and a standard afternoon tea (pescatarian option) and it was absolutely delicious. You could tell it was freshly baked, and the attention to detail was evident. Every morsel was delectable. It’s a generous portion but The Orangery provide recyclable containers to take away whatever can’t be managed in your sitting. It was well worth what we paid and we will definitely be back.

There is a lovely atmosphere in the Orangery tearoom. All the ladies there are always very welcoming. The food is lovely and so is the service. My friends and I lunch together regularly there. It is our favourite place. We are looking forward to our next visit. Thank you.

This was our second time visiting for afternoon tea and equalled our first experience. The food was simply stunning, the staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and the setting was amazing. What a beautiful Christmas treat. We'll definitely be back. As far as things that could be improved?... I genuinely can't think of anything! We loved every moment.

Everything was just perfect. BUT to book a table I felt I had to jump through hoops did I want inside or outside, did I want brunch or lunchtime menu, and also had to pay a deposit. Also I would have liked to have booked an 11.30 table but could only book 11.00 or 12.00.

Es war ein tolles Erlebnis. Ein wunderschönes Hause mit viel liebe eingerichtet Räumlichkeiten. Freundliche hilfsbereite Mitarbeiter ein tolles Ambiente. Das Essen war hervorragend. Wir kommen gerne wieder. (Waren im Urlaub hier, aus Deutschland)

Beautiful setting, staff were friendly and efficient. We had 2 traditional teas and 2 savoury and all the food was excellent, ample and tastefully presented. A nice bonus was being able to switch between hot drinks and cordial. Thoroughly recommend.

Stunning location and one of the best afternoon teas we have ever had! The food choices were amazing and everything we ate and drank was just perfect. Also very friendly staff and a lovely location for a short walk afterwards. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return when we are next in Norfolk.

Excellent customer care, beautiful surroundings and very good food. A little bit pricey if you are looking purely from a cost of ingredients perspective. You pay for what you get, and what you get is worth every penny. Can't think of many ways to prove...maybe a brochure for takeaway cakes?
