We had a very enjoyable meal, with well-placed lighting, and enough space between tables to prevent noise, although the area was busy. The room had a pleasant outlook over a courtyard, and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The starters were generous and well presented, a dish being adapted on request to suit personal preference, and all the food was fresh and tasty. It was surprising that no decaffeinated coffee was available. A very pleasant evening; we would come again.

Wainwright ale on its legs, tasted acidic - for £4.65 expected better.
Prawn cocktail presentation could have been better.
Beef presentation was great- on top of roasted parsnip, carrot and potatoes. Accompanied with green cabbage, broccoli and lovely cauliflower cheese, plus very tasty gravy.
Sweets were ok. Chocolate ice cream and Crème Brûlée.
I’d look at the service if anything - room for improvement.

Effectively, the Hotel restaurant, it's spacious, the staff are efficient and friendly, you can take your time and the food is mostly top notch. The pasta dishes are brilliant, the pies stunning and the fish dishes just superb. Only downside were the burgers - meat was way too dense and veggie option dry as a ship's biscuit, so cure that n it's pretty well perfect.

We have always had a good time at the Fat Abbott. This time the portions we smaller but none the less delicious. The waitress was friendly, helpful and professional. We sat in the bar which has much more character and ambiance than the restaurant. Another really good occasion. We will return and recommend to friends and family.

I do not have anything negative to write about The Fat Abbot. Food, service and ambiance were all very good. Price reasonable for the good quality. I especially liked it that there is a box separate from card payment for staff gratuities. An excellent system and my preferred way to add a tip.

Overall experience was great, we would definitely eat there if we stay at The Parsonage again.
Just one small comment, we had olives for a starter and they were quite spicy with chillies, which wasn't mentioned on the menu. We probably wouldn't have had them if we had known, we were expecting plain olives. Thank you.
