Frequently Asked Questions- Do you allow dogs inside the pub?
- As much as we love dogs, as it's only a small pub with just 9 inside tables, we don't allow dogs to stay inside the pub but we do allow dogs into our cosy courtyard where you'll find shelter, heaters, blankets, dog bowls and biscuits. To get to the courtyard you do need to come through the front door of the pub with your dog and head up the steps to the courtyard at the rear.
- How long will my table reservation be held for if I'm running late?
- 5 minutes. Please phone us on 01423 313461 to let us know in advance if you won't be on time for your table reservation. With only 9 tables inside the pub, they are often in high demand so we can't hold them for long.
- What kind of food do you serve? (We don't serve a Sunday Roast, chips or burgers)
- A selections of cured meats, cheeses, breads, olives, chutney, crackers, pickled onions & cornichons served on wooden sharing boards. In addition we make our own chicken liver pate and wholesome soups and we serve a tasty houmus with toast too. For dessert we home bake chocolate brownies, salted caramel & pecan brownies along with rocky roads and Victoria sponge muffins. We also serve our homemade stone baked pizzas on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. See the photos for the full menu.

Always Half Moon we have been customers since their opening night. The staff are always lovely and knowledgeable. Tom runs a great pub, it's clean welcoming and friendly. The beer is kept to an excellent standard with the food being fantastic.
I love bring able to book ahead but that doesn't always effect spontaneity aa you can more often than not get a table as a walk in. Nat was his normal lovely self on our last visit. My husband loved the special pizza a rather retro one of ham and pineapple but the usual moon slant on it. The pub was buzzing even though it was a Tuesday. The Moon our first choice even though we have to walk passed others to get there.

All staff are very friendly, the food offering is simple and different to other pubs which makes it special and it is always of good quality - the pizzas are 1st class. Getting your repeat drinks by the staff coming to your table and asking rather than queuing at the bar sets it apart from other pubs and needs to be maintained as does being able to book a table.

It can get noisy at times, hence the lower ambience score, but that’s due to the size & acoustics of the space. It’s a very pretty space to spend time in. Maybe a change in music? Or variety across a few hours? It used to be more indie music which we definitely preferred to the 50s 60s tunes. Thanks for a lovely evening.

A lovely anniversary dinner with my partner, accompanied by friendly, personable service and a wondergul wonderful homemade pizza.

I love the Half Moon. Basically the perfect pub.
Great beer, small but great menu of pizza, cured meats and cheese, friendly staff who like what they do. Just consider myself lucky to have this place in Knaresborough.
