- Can I book outside tables?
- We do not accept bookings for tables on the patio or by the river.
- Are dogs allowed?
- We like dogs and they are welcome in the bar, the patio and by the river. They must be well behaved, sociable and kept on the lead at all time.
- Are you child friendly?
- Children are welcome but must be seated at all times. Any highchairs or prams must be included as 1 person on the booking to allow social distancing to be maintained at all times. We have children's meals on the menu. We can not warm up food or bottles brought onto the premises due to covid 19 restrictions.
- What have you done to mitigate Covid 19?
- We have done a number of things to mitigate Covid 19 and try to ensure the safety of customers including: - risk assessments - clear signage and advice on hand washing - installing sanitising stations in each area of the restaurant and bar - additional cleaning by staff of touch points - socially distanced the tables - enhanced staff training.
- How many people can we book for under Covid regulations for indoor tables?
- Indoor tables can be booked by a maximum of two households/bubbles to the maximum number of seats at the table.
- How many people can sit together outside under Covid regulations?
- Outdoor tables can be comprised of two households/bubbles or six people maximum from any number of households but still comply to social distancing.
- Can I wear facemasks and gloves in the restaurant and bar?
- Yes, you can wear facemasks and gloves but will need to bring your own.
- Do you allow smoking and vaping?
- The indoor restaurant, bar and Garden Room are completely NO SMOKING & NO VAPING AREAS. Customers wanting to smoke or vape are requested to use the designated area.

We had the Sunday Roast. The beef was perfect - cooked to our preference - and the slices were just the right thickness. Very tender meat. I don't eat Roasties and Yorkshires but my partner tells me they were "proper job" i.e. not Aunt Bessie's. Nicole was her usual lovely, efficient and friendly self and Kyle always goes the extra mile.

Worst afternoon tea I have ever had. Sweet brioche rolls not sandwiches. Curled up hard cheese slice covered in tomato sauce, sausage roll served on the cake plate and tasting of sugar, very poor quality of cakes, tiniest scone which crumbled into pieces, no butter with the scone and not a 3 tier cake stand as is customary with afternoon tea. I would have refused to pay but unfortunately my friend paid whilst I was visiting the bathroom although she also thought it was dreadful. The whole thing appeared to have been made and left out of a fridge for hours before we arrived.

Perfect location, perfect atmosphere and perfect food. The only small criticism was only having Nicole as waitress. It was a particularly busy night I guess due to eat out to help out and she worked her socks off. I think Paul the owner was cheffing in the kitchen. We hosted a Hindu friend and really struggled to find dishes for us all, off a menu that was mostly pork and beef. The dishes we chose were well presented and beautifully cooked. A little more fish and chicken choice within the already well appointed menu would be welcomed. Vegetarian and vegans no doubt have an even harder time, given there is were only a couple of dishes for their selection.

Nice rustic pub. The manager (think she was) really helpful and welcoming. Our other waitress, everything looked an effort. Felt like we were alan inconvenience asking for another drink. We asked if we could have custard on our pudding but got a very blunt . Wasn’t that odd to ask for. Food lovely and very tasty. I had the lamb shank which was beautiful. Everyone also had roast beef or pork and we all enjoyed it. Nice wine. Dessert was equally tasty and just the right size not over facing and nicely presented. Shame the one waitress didn’t go to any effort to make us welcome as her colleague was very obliging and friendly.

We stayed here for one night and had a lovely time. Location and staff were fantastic. Sitting by the river with a drink a few steps away from your own courtyard room added to the relaxing element of a stay here. We used it as a base to explore Stamford and Oundle and was perfect.
The breakfast was very good and we ate here in the evening - Chateaubriand which was cooked perfectly (presentation and sides were a little basic but delicious and very good value) Would highly recommend.

We have always enjoyed our visits to the Queen's Head when we meet up with friends , but we were disappointed this time with the restricted lunchtime menu. We realise that this is due to the lack of people wanting a full meal at lunchtime but when we meet up we do want a full 3 course choice. The main course meals we did choose were up to their usual high standard and the service as great as always. Unfortunately though, this will be our last visit unless they revert to a full lunchtime menu.

The meal was not of the same quality that we had in the past. I ordered the steak and ale pie. It arrived with frozen chips what appeared to be frozen garden peas and the pie was chicken and ham although tasty it was not as ordered. There was also no starters available as the menu was completely different from what I saw on the website.
