Booked to eat at the Boot and Shoe on spur of moment. Turned out to be a good impulse as this pub is a thriving, lively destination. Food was tasty and is good value in these times of rising prices. The bonus on top was to find that it is owned nand run by Phil, an old work colleague of my wife and I, which only makes it a greater pleasure to recommend the pub to others.

Food was delayed looked like they had a busy evening, however the manager kindly provided a 10% reduction on the bill for this. Food was the let down think the standards in the kitchen have dropped a little since our last visit. I had the hanging kebab, food was over cooked and burnt, especially the chorizo, chicken was dry and the pita bread was crispy appeared to have been deep fried. I was provided a fresh pitta which shamefully was the star of the meal along side the dip. My wife had the fish which lacked any flavour and vegetables. Shame as I know how hard the stuff work to make this a great venue.

Charged £35 for 2 average Sunday lunches, waitress did point out the 2 plate offer but didn’t say price of single lunch and not on menu showed to us. I did have a pud at £2 but the wife didn’t want one. Think pricing should be clearer. Room very nice overall.

Enjoyed the pizza first time round but chose the hanging skewers this time and they were very salty as were the rather soggy chips. Beautiful setting though. I'll stick to pizza in the future.
