We felt absolutely hounded by waiting staff during the entire meal. It was difficult to maintain a conversation and enjoy our meal when at least five different staff members interrupted our meal every few minutes to check in on us. It was too much and left us feeling very claustrophobic. The Halloween decor was also very tacky and cheap looking. The bathroom was pretty gross too. The directive not to flush toilet paper was honestly disgusting. We were left disappointed as we’ve eaten at Kao Thai many times in the past and always had positive experiences. We won’t be back anytime soon.

Service was really good, polite and fast. But our fresh spring rolls were really dry, and the pad Thai mains were so killer sweet that it really ruined the dinner. All you could taste was sugar. Just awful stuff. Even fast food Thai are better than what we were served. Don’t understand the rave reviews by those who supposedly know great Thai food. Unfortunately could never recommend this restaurant to others.

The service was okay, but the waitress got our order wrong, we received the wrong appetizer and my beer was charged on the wrong bill. The chicken satay were tasteless. The Som Tom salad was bland, it didn’t have the explosion of flavours I was expecting and have found in other restaurants. The curry was spicy, but again I did not find the array of flavours and aromas I love and expect in Thai food. All in all I found the food disappointing.

We were tucked away in a corner, very tight to get into and out. Coconut soup was good, but a little plain. I've had better versions at other restaurants. The green curry was very good. Male waiter was in and out of our area constantly, it was a bit disruptive.

The staff are always friendly, accommodating and welcoming as well their service is impeccable I would say even go above and beyond expectations. Thank to all of the staff there that night we were a large party and they were prompt and on top of things all night, they even when as far as to serve the birthday cake we brought.

I love Thai food. First time trying Khao Thai. Food was very average, nothing special. We had the combo appetizer. $18 for 2 spring roll and 2 small skewer that were very average and dissapointing. Had the #13 salad and green curry shrimp. $24 for the latter ($21+3.50 rice) is clearly overprice for what it was. Very average and overprice food. Much prefer Siam Kitchen in Ottawa.

EXCELLENT!!! Waiter’s personal preference on tables, salad before soup served in appetizer- infact instead of getting all three appetizers together, one by one served, mango salad had a hidden chilli that wasted the taste, all mix ups that can be avoided!
Please allow me to say i did feel a bit that “local Canadians” were served in a totally different attitude than “ Asian Canadians” like myself!

The food and service were great! But something is wrong with the temperature of your restaurant. We were there on May 3, 2025 with our children and mother-in-law for a special birthday celebration but we were so freezing that we ate as fast as we could in order to leave the restaurant. We looked at other customers and some were wearing their jackets while they ate their meal. We couldn’t enjoy the restaurant as much as we wanted. Shame as the food was delicious.

Everyone was very nice and welcoming, the design of the place is gorgeous, the food tasted delicious. However there could be better music that sets the mood, mixing Thai folk music and some other style would be nice:) green curry had only one piece of eggplant and one piece of mushroom which was disappointing. There was a bit of a « rush » in the air, not a relaxing atmosphere maybe because of our table which was very tightly squeezed behind the cash register. Also found it too expensive for not including rice. Rice is something that doesn’t cost a lot and for 19$ you should include a little bowl of rice for your guests. The 2.50 extra wasn’t even enough, I would have liked double the amount of rice
