Dining at the Angus is an informal affair. The Angus Hotel is a great place in Blairgowrie to eat out. The Hotel has The Bay Tree Bar and Restaurant to the front of the hotel. The Bay Tree offers a traditional dining experience.

There is a new large modern and airy buffet style area with an outdoor terrace to the rear. The Jutemills Restaurant serves buffet breakfast every day, lunch and dinners for large groups and entertainment events.

The style of food at the Angus is modern yet true to the Hotels highland heritage. The type of dishes on the menu range from Scottish landed haddock and home cooked chips to braised scotch lamb shank with mash. Dining is all day, and from 10-5pm lounge service offers coffee and cake along with a full Scottish Afternoon Tea.

The hotel is open all year round and welcomes local diners and groups with reservations. During the months of October to June most weekends host entertainment nights, and details can be found online.

Disappointed with restaurant for evening meal, we booked for 7.30, we arrived 5 minutes early, to be told you are booked for 7.30 please take a seat in bar and I will come for you at 7.30. At 8.05, I went back to ask, what was happening. After getting our table, husband ordered a pint again after waiting quite a while, had to ask where it was . Food way overpriced. Starter 3 balls gloopy cheese £6.75. Main ok steak, silly tub of chips, tiny spoon lettuce and small bowl of runny mushroom sauce that ran of the flat tile plate £26. Staff very amateurish. Man who appeared to be manager in sloppy T-shirt and baggy trousers falling down legs. NO SANITISING TABLES BETWEEN CUSTOMERS. WONT RECOMMEND TO LOCALS OR BE BACK

On arrival it was a bit chaotic but under the circumstances it was understandable. The biggest concern was watching the chef prepare the afternoon teas.He wore no gloves whilst handling all the food and I watched him place 6 chocolate brownie cakes on the inside of his arm from his hand up to the bend where his elbow joint is.Very disturbing and poor hygiene, safe to say we didn’t have this .My partner did have a word with reception but do not know the outcome .

I’m afraid it wasn’t a great experience. Tables were sticky, and had to wait ages for service. Food was acceptable, but steak was very tough as was the buger. The only thing my son and I really enjoyed was the ice cream. It wasn’t the quality of food you would expect for the price. Other guests were complaining their food was raw which was a bit disconcerting. Also we were asked for our desert order half way through eating our main which seemed rather odd.

Waited for over 20 minutes to have dinner order taken. Requested water and after 20 minutes whilst waiting on food had to ask again for the water. My husband received his main course and my meal still hadn’t been brought to the table 15 minutes after this and when it did come it was the wrong food which was fir a guest at another table who got my meal by mistake. After this I ordered ice cream and after 20 minutes if waiting for this decided just to leave the restaurant without getting it. The restaurant wasn’t exceptionally busy.

This weekend was taken over by parties of women who took over the Saturday night entertainment couples had no chance of getting up to dance meaning three couples leaving and sitting in the lounge I very much object to paying £378 for a night in Benidorm the food was a disgrace on Friday night steak so bad we complained about it I will be cancelling my next booking If things don’t get better soon

We were on a it is on deal thetefore the stay was good value for money. I have stayed several timess at the hotel and know that much of the hotel and rooms are in need of refreshment however have always enjoyec our stays due to the good food and tribute bands/ party nights. Very disappointing, we had Christmas lunch here a few years ago and loved it so thought we would do it again this year really wish we hadn’t. Half the starters were missing, the carvery was very disappointing the beef was to tough to eat and the veg was sparse, stuffing balls inedible and there was no sauces left . Pudding was bland and again no cream or brandy butter left . Very short staffed( we cleared our own plates away ) and very little effort to make it feel like Christmas or special. We won’t be back .

The hotel feels a little scruffy in parts, especially the hallways, although the spa area was lovely. As quite a dark and sprawling building, it feels like it is very reliant on the staff to create the atmosphere. Luckily we had very pleasant restaurant and barstaff serving us, and even one of the managers went out his way to help when he saw me looking to ask a question at reception but there was a long queue of people checking in. The late check-out on a Sunday is wonderful and makes the stay excellent value for money.

The hotel was lovely and staff were very helpful and friendly. The only let down for us was the dining experience. Many items from the menu during dinner service and were not available which was a bit disappointing. Also when finally ordering there were ingredients missing, the Mac n cheese should have had crispy onion, chorizo and breadcrumbs which was all missing. The afternoon tea was a bit of a letdown, underwhelming and bit thrown together. The breakfast was lovely!

Dinner on first night was poor experience,from start went into Restaurant, no lights on, no staff until kind young lady from bar attended to us. Meal was poor, soup very bland,quite tasteless, very little eaten, main course - gammon steak (tough) pile chips, 4 cherry tomatoes, no presentation, did say to waitress, but short staffed, no one took any interest in diners, as coach parties dining in other area. Breakfast was just ok and as a result of the experience we had, decided not to have afternoon tea which had been booked. Like my tea in a teacup not a mug. Overall not impressed with this Hotel and won't be back

The hotel is a busy one. However our food at the restaurant on the second night of our stay was not acceptable. I complained to the restaurant manager who manager who took the plates away with the suspect meat on it. However he did not return to say what it was, or how it got there. Very disappointed.

We waited 45 mins from sitting down at our table to actually receiving any food. Staff were obviously under pressure and this affects the ambience that customers experience at table. The food quality was mediocre. At the table next to ours, the male guest had finished his meal before his wife's meal arrived. Breakfast was a buffet and the fried eggs were inedible and resembled a plastic egg you would find in a Trick Shop. Not the best dining experience we have had.

The atmosphere was very nice the bar was pleasant , the check in was very easy and covid 19 restrictions were well set out and maintained our room was pleasant and clean enough.......but 1) our second night meal which was booked never appeared on the computer 2) our drinks were forgotten about till we reminded staff 3) on checking out we were OVERCHARGED on our bill by £18 on reviewing the bill for our drinks this was signed by someone else !!! This was quickly sorted but left a sour taste.

The food was good as was the bar service for coffees. A reasonable choice for breakfast. Our swim on the first night was disappointing as it should have been adults only and only 12 people more were in and there was a noisy child for more than half of our session which spoiled the ambience. There was nobody there monitoring it nor able to contact anybody.

Staff friendly and efficient. Good variety and quality of food but felt portions were rather small for the price. Caesar salad was ,whilst being very tasty could have had a bit more colour by adding something like tomato so that it didn't appear so bland. However, overall, quite a pleasant evening .

We visited this hotel and Blairgowrie for the first time and were not disappointed with anything at all. The staff were extremely pleasant at all times and the value we got on a DBB and an afternoon tea deal was outstanding. The dining room and the bar area were decorated to a good standard and our bedroom was very clean and the bed was huge with lovely linen. The decor did need a bit updating and the outlook from our room wasn’t good but overall we couldn’t complain.We will go back. Thank you.

Reception staff fantastic fella at the restaurant with bald head and glasses very ignorant booked table for evening meal was 5mins late he had a go at us for being late because I’d fell asleep after a 5 and an a half hour drive the biggest part of the menu was out of stock but yet everything he said they had run out of was available to the coach party after us Been here quite a number of times since 1992 but will definitely will not be returning again as we were still paying customers just like everyone else staying there We was going to book for another night but went to the Tortine hotel in Peebles what was fantastic and very friendly and food was outstanding

Bedroom was beautiful and very clean, good quality bed and linen. Good sleep quality. The staff are all lovely and welcoming from housekeeping, reception and bar staff , very professional throughout. Food was okay but some improvement required . The first night I ordered Macaroni for the main and it was dry like cardboard, inedible. The Manager took it away and returned to inform that the chef had checked and agreed with what I had said!!!!! Would I like something else , I ordered the steak pie as that is what my wife had ordered and she said it was lovely. The starters and sweets were delicious. On receiving the bill I was charged for the steak pie twice as it was dearer than the Macaroni by a few pence or so. No real apology or reduction in our food or drink bill. I would add that my wife was finished hers by the time I received mine. Poor customer service here I think. This was the only problem we incurred in our stay but it was a bad one. The waiting service was good, but the manager did not appear to understand that this was quite an issue for a restaurant

Needs to be real butter on sandwiches , there was a bone in the chicken sandwich , scones were lovely and could have been warmed to make better, spa towels need to be bigger if you expect people to walk from changing rooms to the wet rooms, small reclining chairs or loungers would entice people to stay and relax longer , we tried to make a treatment time but couldn't get hold of anyone so maybe an option for treatment ? Perhaps have a prosecco or cocktail option to have with the afternoon tea ? Good time had though and we will come back to try the restaurant for dinner

Spa was wonderful, food in general very good although breakfast a bit cold if eating at nine. Bathroom tiling dated and floor a bit grimy. We were unfortunate that waiting staff spilt two of our drinks over us on the same day. Overall very happy with our experience and felt the staff coped profesionaly with all the electrical problems caused by the storm. Definitely would come back.

Had a good day and night at this hotel. We were in a room with a wet room as my husband is disabled but no shower seat and my husband is unable to stand up due to his condition which affects his balance. Should really have a seat attached to the wall which can be pulled down. Staff were efficient and helpful.

Overall, a very enjoyable stay with excellent clean accommodation. Room was ideal, well equipped. Food excellent. We would certainly come again. Some points for your consideration:- - the check-in is not very intuitive, and it was not entirely straightforward to do this electronically at the reception desk. I wouldnt have been able to find my room number or key had the receptionist not been present. - service at the bar was slow - it took a long time for our pre-dinner drinks to arrive at our table - the starters had arrived by this time! - we were advised on the first night that there was only one type of white wine available despite there being about six listed on the menu - 'waiting for supplies to arrive'. - when several people from different rooms are dining together, it seemed very complicated when trying to settle the bill to know how to split the bill between each room. Perhaps taking separate orders per room when ordering our food would have pre-empted this problem? All staff very pleasant and helpful.

This was an overnight treat for our children. On arrival, receptionist was nice but clearly stressed. We had our afternoon tea, this was nice, although certainly not what is on web menu. Ham and cheese and curried egg mayo. The small éclairs were still frozen though. I have to comment on the girl who served us, she was very nice. We then used the pool again it was nice only comment is that the times they allow children in is extremely limited. Our room was not ready, until after 4 slightly annoying. The room was acceptable, bathroom extremely small. We booked dinner for 8 and it was a disaster, sat for 40 minutes, before we were even offered a drink. The resturaunt was not even that busy. The staff seemed very inexperienced, we waited for over an hour until we were served food. And the food was OK and agsin not as described, pork medallions actually was pork chops, seabass with prawns, no prawns..and soggy noodles. We ordered garlic bread with mozzarella for a started -it cane after mains arrived and it was terrible, like rocks. I can't say how disappointed we all were with meal. Breakfast was good selection agsin pastries that were not fresh, you could tell they were from the freezer. I doubt I'd return.

We were really looking forward to our meals as part of our package, but unfortunately, on our first night, several key menu items—including haggis, neeps and tatties, haggis and chicken, and another dish—were unavailable, which was disappointing as those were exactly what I’d wanted to order. My wife chose fish and chips instead, but we were then told that wasn’t available either, so we had to leave to reconsider our options. The next night, we double-checked with staff beforehand and were assured that haggis and most other dishes would be available, but when we sat down we were told again that haggis wasn’t on. This was frustrating, as both of us had been looking forward to these particular dishes and it took away from our experience. While staff were friendly and apologetic, the repeated unavailability of menu items made things feel a bit chaotic.

We, table of 2 were having a lovely meal in restaurant on the Friday night when a table of 11 were sat directly opposite us. They were were very noisy and spoiled our dinner We left without without a pudding,. There were other tables fir 2 around restaurant that we could have been sat at, and if we were, then we would have stayed longer, and had more drinks etc. The table of 11 were just rude with no respect for other guests. Maybe in future plan bookings better and keep the tables of 2 separate from larger groups
