WHAT THE PHO! is a new Noodle Bar/Tiki Bar. Our food leans towards Asian cuisine. Serving traditional Vietnamese Pho, as well as Noodle Bowls, Rice Bowls, and Banh Mi Sandwiches.
We also offer some very cool eclectic appetizers including Chili Seared Pineapple Shrimp, Ahi Tuna Poke Over Warm Jasmine rice, and a Cucumber, Watermelon, and Pineapple Salad.
We feature an extensive bar program with a broad selection of Tiki drinks served in tiki mugs with bamboo straws and paper umbrellas, as well as our creative Craft Specialty Cocktails. The Tiki decor and the surfer and steel drum music enhance the whole island vibe and make for a mini vacation for our guests.

This was my 3rd time visiting but it was a first for my 3 kids and their partners. Everyone was blown away by the menu. I think we must have ordered almost one of everything - not quite, but we loved our meals. Emma was lovely. She was very attentive without hovering and made sure our glasses were always full. I can’t wait to come back for happy hour with most of our crew as we love oysters! We enjoyed both of those offerings from the menu and loved the fried oysters.
Again, thanks for such a wonderful experience for my family. I’m sure we’ll be back

Really enjoyed Savannah Kitchen. Casual place in an old mill, I really enjoyed the shrimp and grits. Son and his date had the vegetarian “wheatless/meatless” dinner while my other son had catfish. We all enjoyed the simple variety and not overdone in sauces. The peach-blueberry bread pudding is not something you fine
in New Hampshire, nice dessert.

Service was excellent. It was a busy night in the restaurant, but the servers meet all of our needs and all with a smile. As good as the service was, the food was the star of the show! The app special was truly remarkable both in taste and presentation. There were four of us for dinner and we all ordered a different app and entrée. We sampled each others dinners and apps, all four were excellent. We would have tried more, but we were all too full for desert. With that said, we saw some of the deserts coming from the kitchen and they looked decadent, almost enticed us to share one, even with a full belly. It was nice to be out, enjoy and evening with friends and have the food add to the experience and make it that much better.

We were so excited to go here. The grits appetizer was very good, but the cauliflower was undercooked and cold. The jalapeño poppers were just all around uninspired. The burger seemed as it it was a frozen patty. The fried catfish sandwich was delivered w the skin on. The shrimp and grits were tasty but very soupy. I asked for bread and was told that they only have enough allotment for the appetizer. Overall a big disappointment. I’m sorry but I have to be honest.

This was our third trip. It was our new favorite local find. There seems to have been a change in the cook line staff, thus the food. The shrimp was spicier than in the past. Not a show stopped but makes you wonder. The beets in the beet salad were wedges instead of cubes or smaller pieces, which required cutting. Not a shop stopper but a minor PIA. The Hanger Steak was markedly saltier. Wondering if there was a switch to using MSG. Bad idea if they are! We'll give you one more try in a month or so....

We had the pleasure of meeting the owner right before walking in for our meal, which set the stage for a truly remarkable meal. I tend to shy away from southern cooking up here in the North, but the food and hospitality were spot on. We had a party of 4 "60-somethings" and really enjoyed our meals. The beet salad was a fantastic appetizer; one ordered it as a meal with catfish (said it was done perfectly but he would ask for a sauce on the side next time).
Two of us tried the Gumbo Ya-ya, one as an app and one as an entree. The flavor was excellent, with a mild heat that builds subtly. We enjoy spicy food but this would not put off someone with a 'fear of heat' - try a small bowl or split it with someone if you are concerned, I think you'll enjoy it. Two of us ordered the oysters and they were also cooked perfectly. We had room for dessert and split the chocolate/PB parfait and berry/bread pudding. Just enough and a pleasant ending to the meals. The specialty cocktails look fun, the draft beer selection has enough choices, and we were kept well supplied with water.
The atmosphere is fun - safe, casually comfortable, and just as it looks on the website. We had a reservation on a Saturday night at prime time (7pm) and were seated immediately. The vibe is young - music is fun and the staff was upbeat and engaged. [If you are hard of hearing ask for a quieter spot but two of us are 'challenged' and we had no problem hearing any conversation.] We are thrilled to see another great restaurant in Newmarket where the food is amazing and the prices are reasonable.

We went for “buck a shuck” oysters… however these were no longer $1 each, rather $1.25. And they used to have no limit and now it was limited to 12 a person. It did not say that on the sign outside the restaurant and no where on their website nor on their Facebook page did it mention this change. Not the experience we expected, and will never return.

My wife gets upset with me when we go because I cannot stop talking about how great of a restaurant it is. I’ve been three times, and every time I declare it’s the best meal I’ve ever had in my life. I told people the other night that I believed I had “both a sexual and religious experience eating gumbo”. I told my family that Savannah Kitchen gift cards are the only gifts I ever want ever again. A fun Sunday afternoon for us despite a slightly overtasked server … food: excellent presentation … every plate looked fantastic … unfortunately, two items were weak: the green tomatoe / mozzarella app- in - melted mozzarella and dry tomato - and the calamari - ugh ! Lukewarm & Cornmeal !? Really ? Try corn flour , if you must , but nothing should come between us and perfectly cooked calamari but golden brown flour… the grittiness of cornmeal was / is seriously off-putting … otherwise all the food was savored …

Although a little pricey, this meal out was the best we've had in a looooong time. Service was attentive, friendly, and cordial. The food was incredible...obviously freshly sourced and so flavorful. Interesting menu items pushed me out of my normal comfort zone and I tried new things I normally wouldn't. We purposely chose "senior hours" to eat due to COVID and felt safe and comfortably with no one eating in close proximity. We will definitely be back!

The food was great. The server tried to be kind but only minutes into bringing us our food, asked us when we'd be done because we were "the last table of the night" (not true, others walked in after us and we had a 7 pm reservation- on a Friday night so not exactly late). He also forgot to bring a round of drinks (though we weren't charged so not that upset). Maybe he's new? Definitely needs more training.

The "side room" area set up for larger parties is a bit odd. Maybe a petition around the area where silverware and extra water, etc. is located? That way staff could still get what they need (and eat while on break) without interrupting the party at the large table.

Food was excellent! 3rd time we have eaten there. They mention happy hour discounts on “certain” drinks and apps but never specify what & anything I order never is & have orders every app & different drinks. Suggestion: make a special menu hand it out so people understand & don’t feel slighted. It’s embarrassing to have to ask.

Everything was excellent. From the moment we stepped in the door, we wee welcomed and attended to with care. Great cocktail menu. Happy hour specials were generous. The number of GF options is what drew us there, but the quality of food and service, and range of options will send us back.

Informal restaurant with excellent food leaning toward a Southern flair. Each dish we ordered had a nice chef’s flair that enhanced flavors and textures. Cocktails were well built and not overly sweet. Staff had the right level of snark and attentiveness. A very enjoyable dining experience. Loved it!

Food, service, and drinks were all excellent. Kitchen was not fooling around - seemed like our order arrived instantly. Service staff were attentive but not hovering, with excellent sense of timing. Our only complaints would be a real lack of handicapped parking (not really in the restaurant’s control…but Newmarket could do better), and the restaurant was loud - some sound dampening surfaces or materials could help.
