WHAT THE PHO! is a new Noodle Bar/Tiki Bar. Our food leans towards Asian cuisine. Serving traditional Vietnamese Pho, as well as Noodle Bowls, Rice Bowls, and Banh Mi Sandwiches.
We also offer some very cool eclectic appetizers including Chili Seared Pineapple Shrimp, Ahi Tuna Poke Over Warm Jasmine rice, and a Cucumber, Watermelon, and Pineapple Salad.
We feature an extensive bar program with a broad selection of Tiki drinks served in tiki mugs with bamboo straws and paper umbrellas, as well as our creative Craft Specialty Cocktails. The Tiki decor and the surfer and steel drum music enhance the whole island vibe and make for a mini vacation for our guests.

The drinks and food here are amazing. I've been twice and can't say enough good things about this place. This time I had their Halibut special and my friend got their Shrimp and Grits they were the best I've ever had. White fish tends to be bland but somehow they managed to infuse so much flavor. Their dark roast martini is better than any espresso martini around. Their PB mouse was light and flavorful without being overpowering.

Food was very good. Staff was good, though when asked for something responses were "no problem." Glad it was no problem because if there was, it would have been a problem. Main complaint was wine prices. For a meager pour, price for a glass of OK wine was way more than it should be. May go back, but may look into beer options.

Guest ordered hanger steak medium rare and it came very rare (almost raw). The other guests had to wait while his dish was cooked again. Tow of us had the suckers and oink. I had this dish at an earlier visit. The pork bellies my first time were soft and almost melted in your mouth. These were dried out and seemed overcooked. Inconsistent.

I had roasted chicken along with a side of brussel sprouts. MY parnter had jumbalaya. My partner is very particular about her cocktails and the waitress had tremendous patience with her.
Food was good, gave the waitress a large tip for her good attitude.
$120 for dinner and one cocktail--that's pricey for the area.

We found the room very noisy, making it difficult to communicate. The music was not enjoyable and too loud. It was a birthday dinner, which was on the reservation but never recognized. 2 diners were mid 80's and could understand nothing of what was being said, which was discouraging. 2 were approaching 60 and struggled. Maybe we were just too old for the intended vibe.

Food, service, and drinks were all excellent. Kitchen was not fooling around - seemed like our order arrived instantly. Service staff were attentive but not hovering, with excellent sense of timing. Our only complaints would be a real lack of handicapped parking (not really in the restaurant’s control…but Newmarket could do better), and the restaurant was loud - some sound dampening surfaces or materials could help.

The food was wonderful! All 6 of us rated our meal as truly southern cooking. The portions were generous and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We have eaten at Savannah Kitchen several times and are quickly becoming regulars. We have shared the wonderful Savannah Kitchen experience with many others and will be joining you again tonight with friends.
We are always greeted when we arrive, are seated right away, our server comes with a bottle(s) of water for the table, introduces herself, takes our drink order ... from there the night just gets better. Service is fantastic, Chris, the owner, always stops by to see how everything is. The food is also fantastic. Executive chef Ian creates amazing dishes. and never disappoints.
We have sat at the bar, in the large brick party room, low tables and high tables and have always been comfortable. The decoration is super cool throughout. The artwork is fun to check out.
So happy you chose our little town of Newmarket, Chris!

Really enjoyed Savannah Kitchen. Casual place in an old mill, I really enjoyed the shrimp and grits. Son and his date had the vegetarian “wheatless/meatless” dinner while my other son had catfish. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner right before walking in for our meal, which set the stage for a truly remarkable meal. This was our third trip. It was our new favorite local find. There seems to have been a change in the cook line staff, thus the food. The shrimp was spicier than in the past. Not a show stopped but makes you wonder. The beets in the beet salad were wedges instead of cubes or smaller pieces, which required cutting. Not a shop stopper but a minor PIA. The Hanger Steak was markedly saltier. Wondering if there was a switch to using MSG. Bad idea if they are! We'll give you one more try in a month or so....

We went for “buck a shuck” oysters… however these were no longer $1 each, rather $1.25. And they used to have no limit and now it was limited to 12 a person. It did not say that on the sign outside the restaurant and no where on their website nor on their Facebook page did it mention this change. Not the experience we expected, and will never return.

After spending a night with my better half there I have to say it’s the best restaurant we’ve been to. Food was mouth watering and the drinks I’ll never forget!!! Awesome staff and the owner really cares about his patrons. We are going to make it a once/month date night!!! Thank you all!!! Dr. John

Loved the atmosphere; great service; delicious food! Not sure why we were charged $1.50 for ice in a glass of whiskey, though. We would definitely come back!

Hi Janet, Thank you for the kind review. You may have been charged an extra $1.50 if it was a liquor by itself on the rocks. When a liquor is not mixed with soda or juice, we pur a larger portion and charge an extra $1.50. I hope this makes sense. I have been to a restaurant many times. This time I I invited three friends who have never been there. All three enjoyed it very much. I plan on coming again bringing their wives. It was nice to meet you owner and he was very nice. We had two waiters waiters one in training

Busy on a Monday evening. We were running late for our reservation. Called and was assured that we were ok. Our server, Emma, was outstanding. She offered suggestions and was quite attentive. She hustled all evening.
Great food, cocktails, and service. Wonderful restaurant to share a meal with someone special of just a night out!

Excellent take for creative and authentic Southern inspired food. Really fresh flavors with quality ingredients. Atmosphere is intimate, albeit a bit dark. Service was friendly and attentive. This restaurant is a refreshing addition to the many similar grill style concepts dotting the Northshore/Seacoast area.

We had a party of 4 "60-somethings" and really enjoyed our meals. The beet salad was a fantastic appetizer; one ordered it as a meal with catfish (said it was done perfectly but he would ask for a sauce on the side next time).
Two of us tried the Gumbo Ya-ya, one as an app and one as an entree. The flavor was excellent, with a mild heat that builds subtly. We enjoy spicy food but this would not put off someone with a 'fear of heat' - try a small bowl or split it with someone if you are concerned, I think you'll enjoy it. Two of us ordered the oysters and they were also cooked perfectly. We had room for dessert and split the chocolate/PB parfait and berry/bread pudding. Just enough and a pleasant ending to the meals. The specialty cocktails look fun, the draft beer selection has enough choices, and we were kept well supplied with water.
The atmosphere is fun - safe, casually comfortable, and just as it looks on the website. We had a reservation on a Saturday night at prime time (7pm) and were seated immediately. The vibe is young - music is fun and the staff was upbeat and engaged. [If you are hard of hearing ask for a quieter spot but two of us are 'challenged' and we had no problem hearing any conversation.] We are thrilled to see another great restaurant in Newmarket where the food is amazing and the prices are reasonable.

Two things come to mind:
1. The restaurant could use some sound deadening material as it’s extremely loud,
2. Only complaint had to do with food delivery. Food should be delivered at the same time. My food arrived first. My companions food was 5 minutes later.

Food was excellent! 3rd time we have eaten there. They mention happy hour discounts on “certain” drinks and apps but never specify what & anything I order never is & have orders every app & different drinks. Suggestion: make a special menu hand it out so people understand & don’t feel slighted. It’s embarrassing to have to ask.
