My second time there, it was another amazing meal. Service was attentive but it was early and they weren’t busy. It took a long time to get our food but it was worth the wait! Amazing lasagna, my friend had the Pappardelle. She said it was heavenly!

An excellent experience. Outstanding home made pasta dishes, one of which was a vegan special which we were able to order with gluten free rigatoni which was just as good as the short ribs ragu featuring homemade flour based pappardelle. Service was very friendly and helpful. Maitre d' changed our reservation twice with a smile. Sitting in bar area was a bit chilly with door openings and closings. Take home cannoli (actually 5 small cannoli) tries too hard to be different. More nut coating than needed, advertised chocolate chips and lemon lacking and not made with traditional cannoli cream.

Our waitress, Sarah, was fabulous! Jill of all trades as she mixed and served drinks, waited on ALOT of tables, sprinted up stairs dozens of times AND despite servers being few, took it upon herself to reorder my Gnocchi Verde as I just mentioned “yes” they were delicious although not quite hot enough but not necessary to reheat. We LOVED our choice of the Tiramisu for dessert! AND it was complimentary as I had mentioned on reservation site that we were celebrating our Anniversary! Lovely unexpected surprise!!!!

My fourth time and my dates first. In the first two visits last year would have been all 10's, this summer all 8''s but Wednesday food was very slow to arrive, was warm really cool which is disappointing with any pasta. Staff needed help with delivery, help remembering our Appetizer order and if forgotten why hold back the meal? Second round of drinks forgotten and last disappoint? Luke warm coffee. I know you can do better but.....

Overall, the experience was lacking. The atmosphere was beautiful and the service was great but our entrees left something to be desired. I got the papardelle which was bland besides the large sprig of rosemary on top, it seemed like their should be some more flavor besides that with a ragu. My fiancee got the taglioni which also was also bland. There were also out of a lot of things we wanted to order, which is totally understandable, but I wish I was told before I came for my reservation or at least when we sat down. We both ordered a glass of wine and both were severely underpoured. Overall the meal was very pricey which again, I had NO problem with if it was worth it. But it certainly wasn't.

My wife and I had an excellent anniversary dinner at Via Emilia. The quality of the food was top notch. Thought was put into each component of each dish, from pickled baby fennel to accompany the salumi board to marinating berries with limoncello to accompany the olive oil cake. The homemade pasta was excellent and the sauces were authentic (not your typical heavy Italian American). Portions were good and I felt were of great value based on the prices (especially in a tourist town). I am excited to have Via Emilia in town and am anxious to visit their sister restaurant, The Mariner, across the street. Thanks or a great meal!

We had a totally delightful evening at Via Emilia. Our waiter was perfect never hovering but always attentive. The food was delicious. A special call out for the Caesar Salads (the best I’ve ever had). The pasta and one side veggie were scrumptious too and the wine list was perfect for by the glass or bottle. Bravo!

Hostess took us to the upstairs dining room and attempted to seat us right next to the only occupied table. We asked for a different table and received some attitude when she moved us. The adult beverage menu had no beer list. When I asked the server she said there were no craft IPA beers. I said I would just have water. She returned a minute later saying there was a Connecticut microbrew. Food was good but nothing exceptional.

The food was excellent. Sadly the service was slow, prices were high and the menu was difficult to interpret. Our party was the only other table in the tiny room and it took quite some time to get our food and drinks. We had a reservation and got sat by the window where it was freezing cold. Every time the door opened, the room temperature dropped substantially. Kudos to the Chef but we won’t be going back.

We thought the restaurant was great, food, service everything very good. The only snafu was we had a 7 PM reservation, arrived on time and were seated timely. While enjoying a martini before dinner and before we ordered we were informed by our waiter that we only had until 8:15 because that’s when the next reservation for the table would be arriving. I have never been to a restaurant that only give you 1.25 hours to eat, so needless to say the meal then felt rushed and less enjoyed, as other people lavished at their tables much longer than our time limit

Very busy evening in downtown Mystic and this was out first stop at Via Emilia. We had upstairs seating and that was excellent because it was much more quiet on the 2nd level than on the first level (bar included on the lower level). Service very good and the food choices our group of four selected was diverse (chicken, veal, pasta, bolognese) and well received by everyone. We will return!!

Overall, EXCELLENT experience!! Dee and Kellie were great. Water filled frequently. Bread service somehow delayed, but bread itself was great! The chianti classico was super! LOVED the spirit service at the end of the meal. Really made things very special. Loved the melanzane, but I would have liked more eggplant, no mozzarella and more ricotta. The sauce was DEVINE!! I have eaten here twice and will definitely be returning. The first time I ordered Bucatini, since I am a fan of artichokes. The portion was both generous and deliciously prepared. The Capesante was quite extraordinary. They lightly sautéed fresh Stonington sea scallops and served them with a squash and zucchini caponata, almonds and vinaigrette. Flavors were mouthwatering. I'll order it again. Servers are knowledgeable and friendly and service is prompt without making you feel rushed in any way. I'm hoping they will start serving lunch!

This was my second dining experience at Via Emilia and I already can’t wait till my third. I can’t say enough about how fabulous this restaurant is. Friendly welcome, great service, and the food is the best Mystic has to offer. We were sat with the best view of downtown in the place and appreciated the attentiveness of our server. I came once by myself and brought my mother this time and she agreed she hadn’t had a meal that good in a long time. I tell people to check it out all the time. Can’t wait to go back. See you soon. This was our first visit to Mystic, but I had already heard about Via Emilia before I arrived. My experience at the restaurant did not disappoint! The Caesar salad, as well as the fish and ravioli entrees, were all delicious. We ordered a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir that complemented our food choices perfectly. Also, our server Chiara made sure we felt welcome and at home. We will definitely be back!

While Via Emila came recommended as a 'special night' experience, there was little we enjoyed. The 'roasted artichokes' were not fresh but had been brine, which was much of the taste, clashing with the yogurt and raisin sauce. This dish should only be fresh and grilled. Very disappointing for a lover of artichokes. The easiest dish - local clams in a white wine sauce with pasta was another huge disappointment - only 5 clams and lots of very chewy mushrooms. No mention of mushrooms on the menu and mushrooms are typically not part of the dish in New England or Italy. My companion asked for medium rare beef and got medium. Only the ricotta cheesecake and the Italian red wine were worth the money. There was a large and loud party upstairs. And the hostess called us 2 women 'you guys' all night, dressed in leggings and a sweatshirt like she was at the gym - unexpected at a restaurant that bills itself as 'fine dining' and charges like 'fine dining. My companion won't return. I might but not before I've tried every other restaurant in Mystic/Groton/Stonington/Westerly.

Waitress was very slow and we snagged another one who kindly took care of us. The first one kind of disappeared 20 min at a time, much longer than needed to take care of the downstair, we were upstairs. Food was good and portions good.

From the moment we walked in everything was amazing. I never leave reviews for restaurants but this is the exception. The waiter was very friendly and helpful and made several recommendations that were spot on, he knew a lot about the menu and never rushed us when making our decisions. The timing of the meal was exceptional and never left us waiting for food or wishing they would slow down to finish the last course. I cannot say enough positive about the experience and we will be back for sure.

Everything was excellent. I do not eat gluten and was able to find delicious gluten free options. It would be nice to have an indication on the menu for items that are gluten free or can be gluten free with small alterations. Many restaurants now do this and it’s very helpful.

The short ribs were delicious. My friend had the raviolis and enjoyed that as well. The service was friendly and attentive. The place was decorated for Christmas and was very festive. Really enjoyed my time there and will go back.

Really great service and excellent food. We are repeat customers. Only complaint is it was special occasion and our table was right next to another occupied table - there were other more "romantic" spots available. No complaints about anything else!!

Arrived and the hostess was helping another couple, we waited 5 mins and a gentleman came over, we told him we had a reservation, he found our name then the women came back and said just sit them anywhere it doesn’t matter, then she looked at the computer and said oh 24 is fine. Took about 10mins once we were seated for someone to come over, she made sure to tell us she was not be helping us but asked us if we wanted water. As we sat there that same hostess brought a few couples up and asked them where they would like to sit, and let them choose. So of course they were given the nice window seats. Food was okay the mozzarella was a little watery and for the price I would not order again. Out main dishes were okay, my husband said he felt his was more of a kids meal…mine was warm…on the verge of being cold. For a Wednesday night and not too busy service was slow I think Sara was the only waitress. She was great and made sure out water and drinks were full and came over several times when we received our food.

Absolutely perfect in every way! The rigatoni is the best homemade pasta I have ever tasted. We loved the Via Emilia spritzer. Their Tiramisu is soooo delicious! Our server, Greg, was excellent!

Dinner was excellent. Where else in Mystic can you get octopus? Delicious. One quibble......music was much too loud (we did ask that it be turned down). It should not compete with conversation.
