Frequently Asked Questions- Where can I park?
- The MAG has a number of lots surrounding the building. There is also street parking on University, Goodman and Prince streets.
- Are you handicap accessible?
- Yes! There is an elevator to the right of the Cutler stairs, with additional instructions inside the elevator to bring you to our restaurant. We ask that you check in with the host so that we can assist with getting you to your table.
- Do I have to pay admission to the Gallery to dine in the restaurant?
- No, you do not! The restaurant is open to the general public. Gallery admission is additional and optional, however HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! World class collection that spans the ages...
- Can I bring my dog to the restaurant?
- We have a dog-friendly dining area outside in our Garden dining area. We recommend you call the restaurant to let us know of your intent to sit outside and we can further instruct you. Order by phone or online and we will bring your meal out to you!
- Do I need a reservation?
- We do not require reservations, but they are highly recommended, especially for our very popular weekend brunches.
- Do you cater private events?
- We cater many events, small or large, your place or ours. The restaurant is available for private events outside of our regular operating hours. The food, service and atmosphere were great. Finding the way to the restaurant was very difficult! The signs in the parking lot are insufficient and vague. Searching for the restaurant entrance made two people
In my party late for the reservation. Many customers in the restaurant commented on their difficulty finding it. One person in my party said she almost gave up. I wouldn’t be surprised that many people do just that—give up.

There was not a lot of menu options for brunch. Everything had eggs, no fruit or granola. Food presentation. Was plain. No butter for toast, no ketchup for home fries. My plate had 4 pieces dried toast, dry home fries. And pork belly. No sauces or garnish. And I saw one item with V for vegan. Non for Gluten Free.

I liked the food, the space, the service, but the restaurant four-member guest band made conversation impossible. Even in the inside room it was noisy, with the band sound subdued but the loud talk taking over as an annoying feature. Maybe I am two generations too old for the experience.

Every drink that was brought to us, separately, was spilled on us or the table. Our glasses and mugs were sticky from being spilled on, we used all of our napkins to wipe up the spills and when we asked for more when our meal came were brought a single cocktail napkin. We ordered a frittata which wasn’t the flavor we told we were getting and the “country” Benedict had thin sliced sandwich ham on it? And the “home fries” were soggy, steamed, unseasoned potatoes. I’ve eaten there twice before the menu changed and loved everything but this was a wild experience!

The live band was too loud as music sound travels up into the open atrium of the restaurant making it difficult to hear people, therefore everyone is shouting.
The food was good, but not spectacular, especially for the price. A $19 chicken salad sandwich should "wow" me, instead it was 'just good'.

The food was not tasty. Unfortunately the cinnamon roles were rock hard and lacked any of the gooey goodness one would expect and the meat in both the Banh Mi and special Korean short ribs was dry. The service and ambiance were great. But I would not recommend for breakfast/brunch.

Loco Moco was a terrific presentation and an interesting combination of flavors. Chicken and waffles: the chicken was delicious but the Waffle was too heavy and sweet , more like fried chicken on a muffin. Would have liked more breakfast choices such as an oatmeal dish or interesting egg dishes.

There didn't seem to be any environmental atmosphere. It felt a little like we were eating in a "dead zone." Both the woman who escorted me to the table and the waitress seemed a bit distant.
The waitress especially didn't seem inclined to any "small talk" or banter. She was pleasant and efficient. I had a salad with chicken. Both tasty. I thought the chicken would be larger amount given it was $7. I had been to dinner there last Thursday and found it more welcoming.

Our server was very accommodating.
When we had called ahead to confirm our party of 12 I asked about splitting the check and the host said, “no problem just let your server know when you are seated.” I did just that-but was informed by my server that she couldn’t split more than 6 ways…which was not the response I expected after talking with the host the day before. Please make sure all staff have the same information to avoid this in the future.
However our waitress went above and beyond to correct the misinformation and created a number system for our table. She kept perfect track of all items and made our experience delightful. She saved the day!

We had reservations for a Thursday night. (There was also a drinks/passed appetizers catering going on in the Atrium). From the website it was impossible to determine what changes/additions, if any, would be made to the brunch menu for dinner. There were two specials offered, which were reasonable, but more than we wanted to eat. The remaining non-brunch menu items to choose from were not exactly what we were interested in. We would have been better off with the passed appetizers/drinks. The menu needs re-thinking and clarified on the website for Thursday evening.
The server lacked clarity when asking about the cooked doneness of the burger.

The two of us who came for lunch enjoyed the venue with plenty of time to eat and talk. The menu was good and interesting. Looking back, the egg in my salad dish was barely warm, tho the overall taste was good. At the end, I asked for an espresso but it had no crema on it and tasted more like a straight coffee. I think my friend enjoyed her frittata. Overall, the experience was a good one.

We have eaten at the brown hound once other time last year. Much different experience this time, nothing horrible, service wasn’t great, server told us the wrong specials for the day, he even said they were from yesterday but didn’t bother to check to todays visit. I ordered a mocha coffee, I could have made a better one myself. Food was good but a little overpriced for what was served in my opinion. The live music was really lovely though.

Always a lovely experience. However, my main dish was a bit overdone and lacked flavor. It was an omelette with tomato and mozzarella. The potatoes were overdone. I usually enjoy an omelette at Brown Hound because of flavor, etc. This time was a bit disappointing. Also, while the seating was cozy in the bar area, there was a large party seated right behind us which made for a very loud environment. This could have been avoided this particular day by spreading the patrons out a bit so that my smaller table could have enjoyed a more normal tone of voice.

I made a large reservation almost a month in advance and somehow my reservation did not get updated despite my phone call to make arrangements. Our food didn't match the description in the menu, one person's meal wasn't ordered so they had to wait for their food, our server disappeared throughout our entire meal leaving us wanting refills on our beverages and the tortilla chips were the saltiest I've ever tasted. The best part of the experience was the beautiful room we were in and the company around the table. I would not recommend the Brown Hound downtown which truly saddens me as it was a favorite of mine in Naples.

Experience was delightful- ambiance, service and food. The salad was incredibly fresh, dressing delicious, had the half tuna sandwich which was more than plentiful. Had I known how filling, I would not have ordered the soup as I was ready to be rolled out-bountiful. Very attentive and even entertaining service ( got into myths & mythology). Definitely a "return experience" in the future.

I ordered the eggs Benedict. The eggs were not poached ,I received hame instead or bacon, the “hollandaise “sauce was broken and the consistency of water. The potatoes were too salty to eat. My companion had the chicken and waffles and was satisfied with the food. The dessert was bread pudding. It was served out of a muffin tin, heated in the microwave. Overpriced and not very good. I hope I have better luck the next time.

First time visit here with my girlfriend for Sunday brunch. I was really looking forward to what I thought was supposed to be the best brunch in Rochester. The food was edible, but absolutely flavorless. The home fries were nothing but cubed potatoes, fried on a grill without any spice, peppers, onions or anything on them. It was only noon and they were completely out of their famous biscuits already, so we ordered the breakfast burrito that was nothing but scrambled eggs with chicken sausage and a couple of plain potato chunks in it. There were no spices, peppers, onions, sauce, etc. in the burrito - Absolutely blah. The best part of the meal was the mimosa. Also, after our meal was delivered to our table, The waitress never came back to check on us once. For $40 a person for and meal that I only ate about 1/3 of because it was not very good, unfortunately I do not think I will go back.

Our server, Allen, was great and while the menu is quite limited, the food was decent. I had the burger, which had good flavor and my husband was pleased with the lasagna. We were expecting a more charming, creative environment given the location.

The French fries were amazing! The coffee was quite good. Other than that, the food was a disappointment - the waffle and the chicken were both overdone, as were the cookies. Our server, Omar, was attentive and pleasant, despite being the only server on. The setting is lovely.

Home fries were like boiled potatoes, no color, no crisp, soggy. My frittata was overcooked and average, my partners hollandaise looked and tasted like cheese wiz. Over priced mediocre brunch, disappointing.

The food and ambiance is terrific. Our waitress was wonderful and friendly. The only thing that was a bit off-putting was the lack of a host at the check-in at the bottom of the stairs. You stand at the check-in feeling like you're at the wrong place because no one is there. The host eventually comes downstairs and you tell him about your reservation, then he disappears upstairs for about 10 minutes and finally comes back. It's a bit disconcerting. Everything else is great.
