Frequently Asked Questions- Where can I park?
- The MAG has a number of lots surrounding the building. There is also street parking on University, Goodman and Prince streets.
- Are you handicap accessible?
- Yes! There is an elevator to the right of the Cutler stairs, with additional instructions inside the elevator to bring you to our restaurant. We ask that you check in with the host so that we can assist with getting you to your table.
- Do I have to pay admission to the Gallery to dine in the restaurant?
- No, you do not! The restaurant is open to the general public. Gallery admission is additional and optional, however HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! World class collection that spans the ages...
- Can I bring my dog to the restaurant?
- We have a dog-friendly dining area outside in our Garden dining area. We recommend you call the restaurant to let us know of your intent to sit outside and we can further instruct you. Order by phone or online and we will bring your meal out to you!
- Do I need a reservation?
- We do not require reservations, but they are highly recommended, especially for our very popular weekend brunches.
- Do you cater private events?
- We cater many events, small or large, your place or ours. The restaurant is available for private events outside of our regular operating hours. Great experience overall with a friendly, courteous staff. Although the menu has a varied selection, it could be improved for those that have dietary restrictions (as many do today due to health and moral reasons!) I enjoyed the Zen Budha Bowl and am thankful you offer tofu as a protein option! In terms of ambience, the lighting is too bright reminding us of a surgical hospital room. In the past, it was more cozy with round table and more natural light combined with dim overhead lighting--this is preferred. Hope this feedback is helpful! Great job overall though-thank you!!

I love the Brown Hound Downtown! It is on this list of the best brunch places in the ROC - usually number one - and definitely deserves its spot. Great atmosphere, phenomenally executed plates, and fabulous service. I have been three times now and every time I go, I can't wait to go again.

Always a lovely experience. However, my main dish was a bit overdone and lacked flavor. It was an omelette with tomato and mozzarella. The potatoes were overdone. I usually enjoy an omelette at Brown Hound because of flavor, etc. This time was a bit disappointing. Also, while the seating was cozy in the bar area, there was a large party seated right behind us which made for a very loud environment. This could have been avoided this particular day by spreading the patrons out a bit so that my smaller table could have enjoyed a more normal tone of voice.

In my party late for the reservation. Many customers in the restaurant commented on their difficulty finding it. One person in my party said she almost gave up. I wouldn’t be surprised that many people do just that—give up.

Limited menu choices, especially for anyone trying to avoid pasta or burgers. we opted for salads, but they appeared to have been made by someone who doesn't normally eat salads (some lettuce leaves were brown/deteriorated and/or not trimmed properly, carrots were large chunks difficult to eat, chickpeas and cranberries were all sitting on the bottom). Quantity was more like a side salad than a main dish. Soup was astonishingly thin. Just buy from Trader Joe's if you can't make soup properly! We wanted to support this restaurant at the Memorial Art Gallery, but next time we plan to eat dinner elsewhere.

We love coming to your place before going to the museum. I usually love everything I order but the chicken salad was really salty and without a lot of flavor. Even the added fruit in tbe salad didn't help. I just won't order that again. That is one dish that could use a revamp. Thank you for listening!

Asked if we could sit down stairs,(I have a disability and was using a Cain, server said “no I’m the only one working and ran up stairs@. We followed . I reached the top , manager said, of we have an elevator! Thanks!
Brought my din a cup of coffee, no milk or sugar and sai “the mug is chipped, don’t cut your lip”… brought the food and never came back to the table.
Very disappointed, for the price, the service was deplorable.

Our experience was good.
With a limited menu, and the colder weather, another healthier hot offering other than sandwiches and fries would have been nice - stew or soup.

Loco Moco was a terrific presentation and an interesting combination of flavors. Chicken and waffles: the chicken was delicious but the Waffle was too heavy and sweet , more like fried chicken on a muffin. Would have liked more breakfast choices such as an oatmeal dish or interesting egg dishes.

I was a little worried when we arrived as there was a special event of some kind at the museum and we had to park in the lawn. But once we were in the restaurant and seated on the amazing patio everything went smoothly. The location is divine with shady trees and a live guitarist. The food was great and my brunch mate and I were able to relax and enjoy ourselves after a stressful family weekend.

Home fries were like boiled potatoes, no color, no crisp, soggy. My frittata was overcooked and average, my partners hollandaise looked and tasted like cheese wiz. Over priced mediocre brunch, disappointing.

We had reservations for a Thursday night. (There was also a drinks/passed appetizers catering going on in the Atrium). From the website it was impossible to determine what changes/additions, if any, would be made to the brunch menu for dinner. There were two specials offered, which were reasonable, but more than we wanted to eat. The remaining non-brunch menu items to choose from were not exactly what we were interested in. We would have been better off with the passed appetizers/drinks. The menu needs re-thinking and clarified on the website for Thursday evening.
The server lacked clarity when asking about the cooked doneness of the burger.

Two months ago I dined at the Brown Hound and the lunch was delicious, the service good .This prompted me to return. After this last lunch I will be hesitant to return. The chicken salad was mediocre. The flavor bland and the texture mushy. The french fries ,however, were delicious. The server did not acknowledge us for 10 minutes after we were seated. When my companion inquired if there was celery in the chicken salad the server responded that she wasn't sure but if it wasn't an allergy there would be no problem because "if there is you won't even taste it". The bottle of catsup she brought to the table still add the inner seal on it which we then had to remove before it could be used. These may be small things but it was not the quality of luncheon experience that I was expecting.

I liked the food, the space, the service, but the restaurant four-member guest band made conversation impossible. Even in the inside room it was noisy, with the band sound subdued but the loud talk taking over as an annoying feature. Maybe I am two generations too old for the experience.

Our server Maude was excellent, friendly and patient. Loved the atmosphere but unfortunately the food was subpar. I ordered pancakes which were way too sweet even without the maple syrup and sweet butter. Will try again.

My wife and I went here for a quick meal before attending the theater. The menu is limited, but anyone should be able to find something they like. She had lasagna, I had the fish fry. Service was prompt then we were done in time to make it to the theater. We will do this again.

Every drink that was brought to us, separately, was spilled on us or the table. Our glasses and mugs were sticky from being spilled on, we used all of our napkins to wipe up the spills and when we asked for more when our meal came were brought a single cocktail napkin. We ordered a frittata which wasn’t the flavor we told we were getting and the “country” Benedict had thin sliced sandwich ham on it? And the “home fries” were soggy, steamed, unseasoned potatoes. I’ve eaten there twice before the menu changed and loved everything but this was a wild experience!

Four of us got together on Sunday to chat while they were in town for the Eclipse on Monday. We don't see one another often! We needed some privacy and seclusion while waiting for our lunches so that we could visit. Service was a little slow because of sheer volume, but our server (Carla) kept us informed about the delay.
Once the food was delivered, everything was great and we had a good visit.

The location on a mezzanine above the museum’s fountain court is special, and the opportunity to dine as part of attending the museum is convenient and pleasant. Having two spaces, one sort of balcony-style and one beyond it that is quieter, is excellent, and the waitstaff are really good. The place is clean, with a sort of bistro feeling, and nicely lit. Much of the menu is based on a sort of upscale diner food concept, so you can get a burger, but an upgraded burger, for about $18, and so on. Few options for vegetarians, let alone vegans, but there is a fried-tofu meat-alternative option in at least one dish, and there’s a grain bowl. I would love to see more substantial and interesting non-meat offerings.

I ordered the eggs Benedict. The eggs were not poached ,I received hame instead or bacon, the “hollandaise “sauce was broken and the consistency of water. The potatoes were too salty to eat. My companion had the chicken and waffles and was satisfied with the food. The dessert was bread pudding. It was served out of a muffin tin, heated in the microwave. Overpriced and not very good. I hope I have better luck the next time.

I made a large reservation almost a month in advance and somehow my reservation did not get updated despite my phone call to make arrangements. Webster the manager did assist to help mitigate the issue and once we were able to sit down together we had a wonderful time. Nice brunch in a nice setting. Table was small for 4 adults and server never came o clear used dishes during the meal. Very close tot he end another server noticed and cleared some plates. Food was very good though buffet was not replenished timely so a few items were not available while we were there that we would have liked to try.
