Gabriel's is family-owned, and you feel it the moment you walk through the door. Not in a cutesy, "we hung some vintage photos on the wall" way (because they are there as well as a touch of eclectic & fun) but in the way that someone's mother IS in the kitchen right now, as well as the rest of the family. In the way that the person refilling your water is also the one who unlocks the door every morning. There's a history here, and a loving family. The meal started with the hand cut potato chip gorgonzola bacon appetizer, and let me tell you — it set the tone for everything that followed. Crispy, bold, and generous, it's the kind of starter that makes the table go quiet for a minute while everyone just eats. Order it. Don't think about it, just order it. The food is real. I want to be clear about that. Not "elevated." Not "reimagined." Not off of the back of a Sysco truck. REAL. The kind of Italian cooking that exists to feed you, to warm you. What also impressed me was how thoughtfully Gabriel's accommodates everyone who enters. Their vegan and gluten free options are not an afterthought — they're genuinely good food. The house made pesto in particular is something else entirely. Bright, fresh, and deeply fragrant, it tastes like it was made this morning because it was. I'd come back just for that pesto. I'm not exaggerating. And the portions — God bless them — the portions are generous in a way that feels almost defiant in this era of tiny plates and microgreens. The Chicken French was golden, delicate and tender, bathed in a bright lemon butter sauce that was light enough to feel elegant but satisfying enough to mean business. It blanketed the entire plate the way only a truly generous kitchen allows. I'll also say this — I had a reservation, and they took me right on time. No waiting "just a few more minutes." They're just cooking the way their family always has, for people who are hungry and deserve a real meal.
