Frequently Asked Questions

I didn't receive a confirmation, do I have a reservation?: No, you must receive an email or text confirmation. If you do not receive a confirmation your reservation has not been received. Please try again online or reach out to the tea room directly by phone or email.
What is your cancellation policy?: We require 24 hrs to cancel or change the number of guests for a party of 5 or fewer. We require 1 weeks notice to cancel a party of 6 or more, though the guest count may be updated up to 24hrs in advance of your tea time. Same day changes and cancellations cannot be accommodated.
Is there a charge for a same day cancellation?: If you fail to make a timely cancellation or are a no-show the card on file will be charge the full amount of your tea time.
What are your policies on children?: The tea room does not have high chairs, booster seats, or the ability to accommodate strollers in our establishment. Children are allowed for tea as long as they are supervised at all times and are able to enjoy the 2 hour service without being disruptive to other guests. Large parties of children are discouraged. Though it is at the discretion of the parents and/or guardians please be aware that the tea room can be an over-stimulating place for children.
Do you have parking?: Metered parking is available both on La Mesa Blvd. and in a large municipal lot to the rear of the shop off of Allison Ave. On Fridays please allow extra time for parking due to the La Mesa Farmers Market. Sunday parking is free.

Overall, the Aubrey Rose was great. The potato soup was delicious! The savory scones were pretty dry, and the chai tea was mediocre. We did like the Scottish breakfast tea. The sweet scone was better, although I'd prefer one without raisins. Our server was very nice, but we felt a bit rushed through the soup. Once Ena brought the food, she started bussing tables, and it was difficult to get her attention. We got a tiny serving of Devonshire cream--could have sed three times the amount. That said, this is still a lovely place to have tea and the majority of what was served was very good.

My experience was great and I'm glad that my first-ever tea service was with The AubreyRose Tea Room. My only suggestion goes into the unconventional (possibly, I'm new to the tea service scene) but for the hot days of the year offer a selection iced teas. While the hot teas were delicious, there were times when I was getting uncomfortably sweaty (through no one's fault just an unfortunate circumstance of the day being 80+ degrees and horribly humid from the rain even with a/c). While the cold soup served and ice water requested did help mostly, I think a round of ice tea would have been greatly refreshing. I also think that it would bring in business for the real scorcher of days. When the thought of even drinking luke warm, let alone piping hot tea, would be a turn off for the casual customer, if you offer or even advertise a selection of iced teas, it would be a good selling point for the summer season. You can serve it single portions in a glass or in a pitcher/carafe for multiple servings or group. The issues might fall on the logistics of preparation and getting appropriately fitting liquid vessels for the iced tea to fit with the aesthetic of the tea room, but I feel the idea's merit outweighs it's drawbacks. I thank you for your consideration and giving me a lovely experience during my visit. I would definitely love to come back in the near future.

What a fabulous afternoon! It was my first time to have tea on a Thursday at Aubrey Rose - far more luxurious with a smaller crowd and less hectic outside. It would've been nice to use the restaurant's space to seat parties at tables with distance between for more of a private session. With many empty tables elsewhere, it felt a bit cramped to have parties within inches of me.

The Aubrey Rose has been and always will be THE PLACE where my best friend and I celebrate one another’s birthdays! It’s also a place where we “go just to go”! We always make sure to celebrate the Christmas season with their Holiday tea service. The staff is wonderful, friendly and caring. The ambiance is lovely and allows one to block out the noise of the world when you need it most. The food is delicious along with the wide variety of teas that are served. I absolutely loved my 'Tea' with my sisters. Walking thru the front door of the Tea Room was a total transformation from the street outside; so warm and inviting. The different teas we tasted were perfection. The only misgiving I had was the dessert plate, it seemed a little 'stale.' We wanted to sit there longer and just take it all in. loved the whole experience,as always! Menue change was great. Loved the roasted carrot soup! Ina was very attentive and pleasant. As busy as Heather was,she took the time to chat with us which was lovely! Only drawback was the noise leval-very noisy,but that's probabily due somewhat to the lack of fabricks to absorb the noise. And a whole lot of women in one place :)

I have been to the tea room many times and this is the first time I was disappointed. The carrot ginger soup was lukewarm, the egg salad bread was so dry could hardly get it down, the small savory round ball was exceedingly dry, and there was not enough lemon curd or clotted cream for the scones. Everything was fantastic, as always. The price for the holiday tea has become a bit too pricey for our budget, unfortunately. A few friends of mine who always usually go arent this year due to the price increase, as well. While other years, we went 3 times, this year we have limited it to once. Staff is always welcoming and tea arrives as soon as customers are seated. Great menu choices and the food is always delicious. I have been there many times with my granddaughters. The only issue I have is the noise level. It is difficult to hear your table partner.
