Best food in Frome. Charming owner. Great ambience. I’ll definitely be going back.
Wonderful all round!
Oh this is a lovely addition to Frome I really enjoyed the fabulous fish and went for seconds with the scampi I confess, thoroughly recommend this gem, Look forward to going back and trying the rest of the menu
Food was absolutely beautiful. Fresh and delicious and friendly service. Would have been a 10 all round if not for the fact that they had run out of a lot but to be fair we were warned of that possibility when making a slightly later booking. Will definitely return.
Amazing. I would recommend this restaurant to any one. The Skate Wings, just exceptional.
Absolutely fantastic. Great effort guys!
Lovely food at a reasonable price , Service was slow, but it was very busy and there seemed to be just one waitress to serve all tables . Perhaps once it’s more established it would be nice to have some flower pots round The outdoor are to make it seem less like sitting in a car park. Would recommend and go back a again.
Fantastic evening wonderful food, great atmosphere and lovely service.
Enjoyed our crab Bab but very expensive for a family. Think the chips could be included as £4 extra. It was delicious but would like it to be a bit less pricey.
Excellent food & service. The only criticism would be the use of plastic cutlery - not very good for the environment
Loved the whole night. Fish was the star of the show. Fresh simple and perfectly cooked. Great cider (love Worleys) and wine. service was great. Relaxed atmosphere. Nothing to not like.
Great experience, excellent food. A few small changes would be nice; like using cutlery made from sustainable materials instead of plastic. The food was amazing, and the vibe was great.
Delicious and totally charming.
Excellent fish dishes, but a little more choice would be lovely. And maybe a mix of tapas sizzle and slightly larger dishes. Generally very enjoyable.
The best Dover Sole I have eaten in a long time, really delicious, and my partner had the trout which was equally good. Very generous portions - in fact too big for t he plates!
Loved everything except the service was a bit slow. Took nearly 30 mins though didn’t spoil the visit at all....
Clearly they now how to buy and cook beautifully varied fresh fish and shell food. We very much enjoyed our visit
Lovely food in quirky environment, very good for Frome. Only criticism was Rye Bakery customers with dogs walking closely by our table. A more defined in and out for the Bakery would be helpful.
Twice in one day. Very nice, although the evening experience was slightly marred by wafts of sewer smell and the crispy squid had run out. Apart from that, it was fun
Service was quick and efficient. Liked eating outside and it was a lovely day fortunately. Slightly expensive for amount of food but my monkfish scampi very tasty.
We had a lovely outside experience with a limited but most importantly fresh seafood on the menu. They are very flexible with the menu which is great. Only downside was small portions.
Lovely food. Visited at lunchtime having prebooked. Very busy but only one waitress so she was stretched. Looking forward to visiting again.
The food was delicious but overpriced, particularly Dover Sole, new potatoes, shellfish sauce at £25.00 for modest portion. Menu needs to be a bit clearer as to what is considered a Starter and what is considered a Main course. We arrived for 19.00 booking. Ordered our drinks but then after quite a long period we had to alert member of staff and ask to place our food order at 19.50. She was unaware that our order had not been taken so obviously there is no order system in place. Ladies toilets could not have been checked that evening as waste bin was overflowing and subsequent paper towels thrown on floor and the soap had run out. We accept the 'casual dining atmosphere', but at the prices charged, just a bit too casual! We enjoyed the food, the weather was lovely and staff pleasant but in our opinion a little more attention to customer service and food pricing required.
I love the idea of this, and I was very pleased to see the awning up as it was drizzling on the Wednesday evening we went. I can imagine on a sunny summer’s evening the ambiance would be better. The food however was delicious, although our bottle of Pic Pol wine wasn’t cold enough. All in all we had a good time.
Very good food, good service, pleasant staff. Can't be doing with plastic cutlery and plastic cups. Apparently this will be changed shortly. May have to think of the winter months when it comes to seating. Bit chilly !
Service was slow and slapdash. Food was good, but expensive. (Value for money v. Good on EOtHO) Menu was even more limited than expected, and some things not available.
The quality of the cooked fish was superb. The sea came to Frome! I would have preferred some brown meat aswell as white meat in the crab bap. Perfect healthy al fresco dining when we're just getting confidence to dine out. Lovely table service. Downside: way over-priced for the size of portions! If you're trying to recoup build and service cost, we want to see larger portions or a lower price per portion and come away feeling we've had a meal rather than tasters. Maybe the scampi could have been served with potatoes at no extra cost. We'll be back but not for £70+ for 2 of us on a Thursday night!
Happy with food very good fresh and well cooked fish, though considering the tapas type portions not sure would like to pay the full.prices without goverment subsidy. Service was just OK asked for water then never came and overcharged me on the bill. Most annoying was paid 4 quid for the meanest bit of wine I have ever been served.! Its really a festival experience outside restaurant not very comfortable.and basic but food yummy ...just dont get up your own arse about prices. Etc.
The food was lovely. We visited on the Eat Out Help Out scheme and am not sure if I was paying the full price of £22 for the plaice & potatoes whether I would feel satisfied. The monkfish scampi at £8 was about right & they were good portion size compared to the plaice. A better choice of sides in the evening i.e. something which is not a salad would improve the choice on a very limited menu. Appreciate that have recently started up & are testing the waters post Covid. I would therefore not write them off yet.
