Lovely staff and welcome, gave us a larger table due to the size of the dogs. Little disappointed with the drinks selection, did not like their beers. Hoping for some nice real ales. My food was ok, but nothing special, had a lovely soup, followed by the belly pork, but my husband was disappointed with his pate and his pie, the beef was tough, not been cooked long enough. The cherrie ice cream was delicious. It just wasn’t as good as it had been a few years ago, but we will be back

The whole experience was safe, comfortable and enjoyable. Food was fresh, hot and tasty. Perfect servings. Good choice of menu, we had Sunday lunch but there were other options and a specials board. There is always a good selection of real ales and other drinks. Prices are reasonable. Service was with a smile as always. All in all a lovely county inn with a pleasant atmosphere and great service!

Third visit . Love the place. We travelled back to The Horseshoes this time ( 40 min journey ) specifically for the chicken stuffed with cream cheese and spinach , wrapped in bacon and served in a delicious cranberry gravy. I had had it previously and loved and my husband wanted to try it It came with herby sauted potatoes & delicious fresh veg. We both really enjoyed. No room for a dessert !
Definitely will be back.

Absolutely love our dinners here, the lamb roast is next level amazing! Staff are always super lovely, polite and friendly and the place itself is cosy whilst being smart and very welcoming. We will definitely be back when travelling in our campervan in the future!

Lovely old country pub excellent food great service. Fantastic local ales. I wish it was in Cardiff where i live, but alas none like this here had to travel but well worth it .
Best pub for miles unless you go to a Fullers pub at Bath or Bristol.

Love the place .. Sat in cwtch corner by the open log fire. Always a warm friendly welcome, and a varying choice of locally brewed cider. Recommend this beautifully set inn to anyone as we have come here for a number of years and always had good food and alcohol and atmosphere. Look forward to going back!

We visited when Covid 19 restrictions required us to be outside. There were picnic tables in the car park so the ambience rating given is low (although the view was fabulous).
Managed to get around the booking system App which worked well. Staff were attentive and the food satisfactory but I have had better meals at The Horseshoe. However, I believe this to be a great venue.

The young man behind the bar was so friendly and hard-working. Absolutely a credit to the place.
Our initial welcome, however, from a guy in an apron was rude, first words being “you can’t take that dog in the restaurant!”
Not a ‘Hello’ or any sort of Welcome!
We were pleased to inform him that we had booked our table in the bar, as instructed on the excellent website! Thereafter, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you.

Went to the Horseshoe Inn, Mamhilad for our Anniversary. I had braised lamb shoulder with veg and hubby had rib eye steak with chips and salad. 2 lovely, enjoyable fresh cooked meals.
We both chose the sticky toffee pudding to finish, which was nice but not amazing. With a drink each the meal came to just over £60. A bit pricey but it was a special occasion

Very nice food. Good service and nice surroundings. I had the Hake which was cooked beautifully my only criticism was the pre salted potatoes: not everyone likes or can tolerate salt. Hubby loved the curry, a decent one as pubs don't always do a curry well.

The Horseshow Inn is situated in a beautiful area with stunning views, having sampled the specials menu I can state that the Chef knows how to treat food as it matched the views.
The only downside is probably what every hospitality business suffers from the need for service staff balanced the economic pressures, the staff were a little rushed which did mean at times you felt that drinks orders were delayed but don't let this spoil the opportunity to sample the menu.

The food was delicious and more than enough even for the heartiest of appetites. The sticky toffee pudding was truly divine. For ambience, it wasn't very warm and being sat, we did get colder as the evening went on. It became uncomfortable. The food came on luke warm plates which meant our food went cold very quicky. But having said this, we would go back.

It is hard to find any fault whatsoever with this delightful country inn and then on top of all that the location is to die for. Maybe make even more use of the outside space as (admittedly, when the weather is fine) that panoramic view is a huge draw for visitors. Love the place.

We were a table of four, ordered three mains and one soup starter. Was told there was no granary or brown bread .. one main course was swimming in gravy whilst another looked far from freshly made. Waitress didnt know what beers were available. Best part of meal were desserts! Generally we were pretty unimpressed.

We were a bit disappointed that the food we both wanted was not available. It seemed a little odd that on a Friday lunchtime there was no battered cod or beef steaks available.
I then ordered a gammon steak which arrived with two rings of pineapple straight out of a tin. They were cold and not grilled at all. My friend the ordered a curry and it turned out there was no naan bread to accompany that. She was offered garlic bread instead.

food was amazing, the slow cooked lamb shoulder was tasty and tender. while the rib eye steak my wife had was the best steak she had ever tasted you did not require a steak knife it was that tender. the chocolate orange cheesecake was superb in both flavour and texture. the service was first class would recommend the horseshoe inn to anyone who likes good food and a great atmosphere.

Everything was excellent. Could only give a rating of 8 for ambiance because of the restrictions place on pub due to Covid, so not the usual 'vibe' in the bar. However everything else was great.

Having been here before and had a fabulous meal we were really looking forward to dining here again! Unfortunately, this visit did not meet our expectations! On arrival we were greeted and shown to our table, and so service began.
Ordering drinks was very straight forward, then came the menu. We ordered 3 starters and my husband asked would there be any chance if the chef could do some goujons (they were on the menu as a kids meal) we have asked this in local pubs before and the chefs have been great. If the chef said no then that would have been ok, but the waiter simply replied ‘I can probably tell you the answer…no’ which was said quite rudely.
Two of our party ordered the pate, the pate to bread ratio was beyond belief, two large triangles of pate with a slice and a half of thin small bread and a huge side salad. The last time we visited and ordered this it was one of the best starters I’d ever had with equal portions of pate, bread, onion marmalade and salad.
We were then joined in the dining room by a large party of people, who were very loud and rowdy, more shouting than talking and name dropping a local celebrity like he was the king of England.
Even the one waiter struggled to hear our next drink order because they were so loud, yet not one member of staff asked them to quieten down.
Mains arrived, looking promising, two portions of belly pork, one chicken burger and one fish & chips. Out of all that the burger was the better meal, the fish batter was soggy after cutting into it it became quite apparent that it was very greasy, leaving grease/oil on the plate, if you lightly pushed down on the fish you could see it oozing. Then came the pork with black pudding mash, our guests had ordered this and while it looked very appealing on the plate both guests failed to eat the food, the belly pork was quite tough and took some cutting, and the mash was unseasoned and bland.
Very disappointing in comparison to our last meal! ☹️☹️
