Cromwells is an intimate licensed restaurant & tea room set in a grade II listed building in the heart of Pontefract. We serve freshly cooked food, an extensive drinks menu & a selection of cakes.
We are open from 8am to 3:30pm Monday to Saturday and also have a small upstairs restaurant available to hire for private events. Email us at [email protected] for more information.

Lovely, don't go often but nice when I do.
Nice staff, good service.
I had eggs benedict. Eggs slightly under done. A bit on the jelly side. I had to put some to the side. Was really nice apart from that

This was our second visit to Cromwell`s having first visited in November on our way back from a family holiday. On both occasions the food, the staff and the atmosphere have been exemplary with a good selection of hot and cold foods, fantastic cakes and spot on service.
The total bill for 5 people (main course, pudding and a drink each) was a little over £90 which I feel reflects very good value overall.

Only appeared to be one member of staff to serve customers, she did a great job but we did have to wait a while to get the bill. Had afternoon tea and each item was lovely, really tasty, too much to eat but we had the extras boxed up for later. Very good value for money. Very enjoyable birthday treat.

Despite on my booking request asking for a table upstairs and furthest away from the stairs I was very disappointed to be taken to the table right next to the stairs. This is the 2nd time this has happened at Cromwell’s. I mentioned that I had asked to be seated away from the stairs, so they offered my a table down stairs which was already reserved for someone else which we accepted but felt under pressure to vacate the table before the time of the next reservation so went else where for a second coffee and cake. We did get an apology about the mix up from a lovely staff member. The food was lovely as always. Despite the mix up over the table we will return.

we have been going to cromwells for quite a long time, we have noticed that their prices have increased quite a bit, and we think they have changed their bread because we ordered sandwiches and the bread was very thin, it hardly kept the filling in tact. it used to be very busy little place but we have noticed numbers are dropping off.
