This was our second visit to Dem Shish and we had another lovely evening. Food was lovely, especially the baklava and the cocktails were great! Service was pretty good and nice atmosphere…. there must be a lot of January birthday’s as there was lots of enthusiastic singing. One small bit of feedback is that starters took a while to arrive and we didn’t get pitta with our hummus, which I think we got last time (and I’d expect). But we didn’t wait long for our mains, which were really tasty. We will definitely be back

We had a really lovely meal and the effort you had made with balloons and roses was super cute. There was a few little things that brought my score down like bringing out the mains but no one had cleaned our starters. We had to ask for our bread even tho the tables either side of us got theres at the same time. You have loads of staff which is great but they didn’t seem to be responsible for set areas so I think that’s were the problem was. No one was focused on their section. Saying this we did really enjoy our food and will definitely come again

We had a lunchtime booking to celebrate a 60th birthday. Sadly, once we were seated and had our first drink, we were then forgotten - the staff disappeared and each time we wanted something (to place food order, request more drinks etc) we had to leave the table to go and find someone. Sadly, not the best experience and would not recommend for a weekday afternoon event.

Lovely meal in very smart restaurant with a good feel to it. Only rated ambience 9 because it was rather quiet, but to be expected really on a Monday lunchtime. Attentive friendly staff who gave us some bread to have with the starter of Baba Ganoush, again only marked food as 9 as it did need some bread with it. The food we had was tasty, hot and well presented. Booked again with friends

The food in the restaurant is absolutely wonderful, and also the service. Unfortunately the day that my friend’s and I went the weather was foul and very cold on entering the restaurant we found it to be very cold. So the hole time that we were there we sat with our coats on. We did ask the staff if the heating was on they pointed to one air conditioner saying that it was on. It is such a large restaurant. I would recommend that the heating be put on at least an hour before serving lunch in the winter for those of us that feel the cold. But the food, as I said was delicious and we all enjoyed that we will be back and we hope that it’s a lot warmer!!!

This place is now one of my favourite restaurants, I have now experience evening dinner here, cocktai night with the girls, the cocktails were impressive and carefully made and an afternoon lunching with friends with the 2 courses for £11.50 menu, which is great to have an affordable menu with deliciously tasty food. Staff and welcoming, hepful and friendly,can't wait to go back

The food and the staff were excellent well done, but the noise was beyond belief. This was the first time we had eaten here, nightmare to park. It was a Saturday night, and it was busy, the music was so loud we could not hear or be heard by our friends on our table for four, and then the music got louder and a belly dancer came out to entertain, and got people up to join in, now I may be old fashioned but I go a restaurant to eat. Then the DJ started, some ladies were having a party. As I said, if you are over a certain age, I wouldn't recommend a weekend, and be prepared for a hefty bill, I would say compared to other high Turkish restaurants we have been to add 30%, and there is a service charge added onto the bill.

The service was really friendly and very quick. The starters were well presented and delicious, we particularly liked the halloumi and bread. We had the Dem Shiah Special for three which was easily enough for four and very yummy. The only thing I’d change is we swapped out the rice for fries and the meat was put on top and I’d rather have them separate but that’s a personal thing. We will definitely go back again.

We went as a party of 8 to catch up with friends. We have been many times before and found that this time the prices have really gone up. Also we were previously allowed to change rice for chips but now have to pay an extra £2 to be able to do this! I feel this is very cheeky. The service was quite slow and the lamb shank was not as good as we have had previously = not as tasty and portion less generous. We decided to order a pudding over a starter this time but this was a mistake. Starters are definitely better. The puddings were not the quality expected for price paid. The restaurant was quite noisy and the singer/music added to this which made it very difficult to hear. The food is good on the whole but we won’t be returning for a while. It has become quite expensive. Our advice is don’t become too complacent- customers will vote with their feet if your previous high standards aren’t maintained.

At a few occasions the music was turned far to loud as we was sat right next to the speaker you actually couldn't hear each other talking the tables are also far to close at one point the hen party that was sat next to us balloons where literally hitting us on the head at times you felt like you was part of each other's table but over all the value was very good and the staff friendly and helpful

The chicken Shish was strange with bread in it. Staff were nice, the lady who took our order was lovely but the staff who served the dishes couldn't speak English and didn’t understand the questions we were asking about the food. The music was so loud we couldn’t talk to each other. Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Only criticism, the singer was a little on the loud side, meaning everyone had to talk loudly to be heard, meaning others had to increase their volume to he heard. The food was very good indeed but quite pricy. There were some little things that could be improved on (especially if you want to provide a fine dining experience). For example the cutlery is uncomfortable to use. It looks good but digs into your hand because of its shape / design (form over function). It comes in a paper cutlery sleeve along with a very small (inadequate) paper napkin. On the table there was a mix of red and white wine glasses. It seems that attention to the small things has been overlooked.

A disappointment. The food was absolutely wonderful and the waiters were quick and efficient with orders as well as polite. The main issue is the ambience and atmosphere. I went on a Saturday with some friends and the music ranged from fine to just outright bad. When they were playing music to set the atmosphere, the music's volume CONSTANTLY kept changing every song to the point where it would mostly start off very loud and then was thankfully turned down after some time. Or it just stayed loud to the point where I couldn't hear what my friend said who was sitting right next to me. We was sitting right next to a speaker too which didn't help at all. But when they had a lady singing. Things took a unfortunate turn. The lady singing herself wasn't a problem, she had a lovely voice. What was a issue was that they had a small child from a family come up to the mic and started singing a pop song in its entirety. Regardless of how cute and sweet this may be. This is seen as a fine dining restaurant. That made it feel more like I was at a holiday campsite. I felt real bad cause I came here before with family and loved it so much I recommend this to my friends for a night out. So you probably imagine my embarrassment when a young child is blasting their voice through the mic to a song with speakers that are already too dam loud. My friends looked uncomfortable and unsure and I felt even more uncomfortable because of it. Afterwards the lady kept singing thankfully but then her one speaker seemed to have broken, causing a very high cracking sound that was unpleasant to hear for a short while. This ultimately ended up returning us back to the standard music that ended up being loud for the rest of the night, to which it was a hassle to talk to people on my own table. This is a real shame cause I have been before and it is a wonderful place. The setting is calming and relaxing, the staff are lovely and the food is fantastic. But that night has ruined it for my friends.

Hi The meal was lovely and the lamb shish was amazing. Waiting staff were great and the food came out quickly. Only two minor complaints were that the resturant was very cold and the cocktail was very sweet. Appreciate both are down to personal preference. Would be great to see some cocktails on the menu which aren't long drinks or the standard list. Being Turkish may be have some cocktails based on more interesting flavours. Rosewater, walnut bitters, pomegranate (not grenadine which is often too sweet), hazelnut liquors, quince etc.

Booked for lunchtime very quiet , found service very slow considering only three tables occupied and had to keep waving arms around to get attention. food was nice but had better and paid less.

Everything about our experience was 100%. The place is beautifully decorated, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the food and service was second to none! This is now our new favourite! Thank you to the staff who served us and the owner for a nice chat. I will definitely recommend to anyone.

The food was very good, we were a table of six and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. The service was quite average, drinks took ages to appear and often we had to ask two or three times. It took over 15mins to try and get someone’s attention to pay, staff were standing around but not serving or checking on tables.

Early Days, service was a little inconsistent, we gave the lady a tip still as she was trying very Hard. Versus other comparable restaurants the food was good but i feel the Prices were a bit too high as a comparison for what was served. We will go back - but ask for an alternate table as where we sat was very exposed and not always comfortable to enjoy a meal, if we felt more comfortable we would have stayed and had deserts and obviously more drinks - but we went to another venue as we felt awkward where we were sat.

Overall Demshish is a great venue with great food. For me to score a 10 the food needs to be hotter as it’s not particularly hot when it gets to the table. Also the floors are extremely slippery and I am surprised no one has had a fall by now.

Overall the experience was excellent. Great food and service, food portions very good, wine reasonably priced. Only improvement would be my chips were only Luke warm when they arrived and so was my wife's chicken.

Food very good as was service, although we had to wait over an hour for the starters. It was very busy so that could have been the reason. Once we were served the waiters were excellent. The venue was very noisy as it was so crowded. It could be that the design and layout did not lend itself to a quiet meal. Not the place for a romantic meal for two, but perfect for a large party not intent on too much one to one conversation!

Starters very small for the price. Charging extra for chips instead of rice I think is a bit cheeky. Meat was very nice. Lack of dessert options available had the tiramisu but it was very hard and dry.

Our first visit and I'm sure it won't be the last. Lovely, fresh food and plenty of choice for vegetarians. Service was very good, very friendly staff. Decor very clean and fresh looking and tables not too crowded together. Our only negative comment would be the price of alcoholic drinks, but then everything seems to have gone up these days. Thank you for a very nice evening.
