On Sunday 5 October the red lyon hosted my 80th birthday lunch, with 19 people. It was beyond amazing. We had chosen a hot roast with lamb, chicken and fish for those who don’t eat meat! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it, the food was superb, compliments were flying for several days and the service was magnificent. Martin was a great host, getting everyone to join in with the celebrations, lots of laughter and fun. I honestly couldn’t have wished thfor a better birthday ! Not sure I’m going to do 90 though! Several friends who have been a part of my life for many years commented that we were so lucky to live in such a pretty village with a fabulous pub serving such great food. Aren’t we just ! Thank you to both Martin, Fiona and their lovely team.

Good service, excellent food and a perfect pint of Harvey's best! We were a group of walkers and it was very convenient for us to park at the pub for the duration of the walk and being able to pre-order food. One point regarding earlier visits, there has been a number of dogs in the pub with one particular yapping dog - at least on this recent visit there was no sign of them!

There were three of us booked in to eat on Sunday last week. The roast beef was excellent, and the fish was good too. The vegetarian option of Root Veg Wellington was not good at all - very little veg inside, and far too much bready mixture around it - such a shame.

Lovely staff, warm welcome. Pie of the day very good. Vegetable Kiev, average. Scampi, good quality. Tortellini bland. We sat by the fire opposite the door, but not really much heat on a very cold day. We would have preferred to have sat in the restaurant area, but it was too cold and no fire.
