This was our first visit and we were impressed from the beginning. We were greeted warmly, even by the pub dog. Staff are all friendly and the food was very good and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back soon.

Had a lovely lunch Saturday with mum. Food was excellent. For me too much veg with the pie, which was superb, I had to leave some of it, which I hate doing.
Also tables in the restaurant down the garden side, I felt were too close together. We ended up pushing the table around, so we could get out, as a large table were sat behind us.
Certainly not anything that would stop us coming again, just personal views, that may be of interest. Look forward to our next visit.

Lovely return visit. We were greeted by warm and friendly staff. My only issue was navigating a crowded bar area to go to the loo from the restaurant. Despite my 'excuse me' several times no one moved out of the way. We loved the resident staffie ❤️

I brought my daughter for a premature Mother's Day get-together. She had never been to the G & D before and was absolutely DELIGHTED with it! ... so was I. My only slight criticism is that I would have liked to see a more comprehensive menu. Admittedly, it was Sunday but, when you don't really go for Sunday Roasts, there was not that much other choice. I would have like fish of some sort, for example.
The service was impeccable, especially from Julia. (hope I got that right). We were grateful that you agreed to do smaller portions.

It was our first visit and we'll definitely be back. The staff were so lovely and they let us use the private room for my birthday dinner. The food was amazing, although we'll remember to go straight for the mains next time. Portions are very generous so the starter almost completely filled us up and we couldn't finish our mains.

We chose Liver & Bacon. The waitress asked how we would like it cooked and explained the two choices. She said the pink version was usual rather than well done. We chose the pink version and were disappointed by the difficulty to cut the liver. We were suppled with steak knives and still struggled to cut the liver and found the meat tough. We are familiar with the dish and suggest the chef tries a COOK frozen readymeal, which is soft and declicious ...

We had a great time and loved the service and the food. The only small niggle, which I appreciate might be an entirely personal viewpoint, is that the basil with the ginger cake dessert was a bum note. I'm a fan of basil but in the company of the other ingredients, it dominated too much and wasn't required. We look forward very much to visiting again, soon, in 2026. Thank you.

Excellent service and delicious food. Our server Julie could not do enough to make us welcome and attend to our help with a wheelchair lady. All though the pub is off the beaten track and not subject to passing trade I would definitely recommend a visit . Even the Stave terrier pub dog was friendly but that's probably because we fed him a few tit- bits under the table. 10 stars

Found the George & Dragon back in the depths of winter. Enjoyed our meal and the hospitality so returned for a another lovely meal on our Wedding Anniversary.
Yesterday, it was a lovely summery day and we returned with out three nieces. Another great meal in a beautiful traditional old pub with great service.

My family and I have been looking for a restaurant which serves a good roast dinner and after 2 months of searching this restaurant far out ways others. The food is well presented, piping hot and very tasty. I would highly recommend this restaurant, we travel a 40 minutes drive and know we’re not going to be disappointed. The George and Dragon has a lovely ambiance and the waitresses are very attentive and always go the extra mile to make sure that you have an enjoyable dining experience.

We had such a lovely meal. We appreciated your flexibility when I needed to increase the table from 4 to 7 with only a couple of hours notice on a very busy sunny Sunday.
Whilst the pub was extremely busy, the staff worked like a well oiled machine, friendly and efficient. Well done everyone, we will be back!

We went for Sunday lunch last weekend. The staff are really friendly from the moment you walk in the door. There was four of us and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our roasts. Difficult to decide what to have for dessert as the choice was so good. All the food was excellent and the service really good. We will definitely be going back.

Roasts were amazing! We had a lamb platter for 2 for the grandparents, 4 Pork and a beef and all were amazingly cooked. The only thing we had to ask for was more gravy for one of them for preference. Booking nans bday next!

Overall, we had a lovely experience. However, we did have a couple of issues which stopped this being a '10'. One of our party requested some changes to his meal, as he doesn't like 'green' veg, but when the food was delivered, all the 'green' veg was still on his plate. Also, another of the party order Dijon mustard with her meal with the view that it wouldn't be as fiery as English mustard; but she couldn't eat it in the end as it was too hot - unfortunately, she'd spread it the main part of her meal so had to leave quite a bit. It would have been good to warn her that it might be hot. Other than that, we were warmly welcomed & were well looked after. We will be back again.

We were a party of 7 and were made to feel very welcome by all the staff who were very pleasant and helpful. We had our own room which was lovely. The set menu was very good value and had good choices. We will be definitely be returning.

We had a really lovely meal Wednesday lunchtime tucked in the snug. The service was excellent, the food very tasty and our birthday girl really appreciated her decorated desert plate and candle. I appreciated the photo the waitress kindly took - great photo of the four of us (not an easy achievement!) Thank you.

After an issue on arrival when our table wasn't going to be ready for half an hour (tricky as we had a 96 year old in our party who can't just wait anywhere), the staff pulled out all the stops and we had a really wonderful lunch and first class service. Although we are no longer 'locals', our family are, so we can't wait for the next time! Thank you.

We had an unexpectedly great meal at the George and Dragon on Tuesday evening.
The restaurant was wonderfully decorated in Autumnal hues and foliage.
The food was excellent, as was the service. Not impressed by the house dog wondering around, in the kitchen etc, but I am not a doggy person however.
Great venue and well presented excellent food.

Delightful rural pub with newish restaurant extension in keeping with the original old part of the building. Beautifully decorated to reflect the Autumn season. Friendly, helpful staff, very tasty food, beautiful views over fields and relaxing atmosphere. Definitely recommended!
