While the service from the staff and quality of our meals was excellent, the visit didn't begin well when the Manager said that she hadn't received your booking confirmation. I showed her the booking on my phone, which she accepted without question. Perhaps this could be looked into, although there was no question of a table not being available at the time.

There was only one person on duty, so the service was quite slow. Luckily there were only a few other customers.
The pork was a bit tough, but the food in general was very good and the menu was interesting.

This was a great place to meet friends for Saturday lunch. It had the feel of real old English country pub and I'm sorry we weren't able to hang around for longer. The food was good (I love a great pie!) and there was a splendid choice of real ales. My only comment is that I thought the main course could have stayed hot a little longer (but perhaps I'm a slow eater!). Although we don't live locally it's certainly a pub we would consider coming back to.
