We are a local pub, built on the idea of delivering good food, good drinks and a good atmosphere.
We pride ourselves on using local products wherever possible. By supporting local business we hope to give back to the community as much as we can.
We aim to provide customers with a friendly atmosphere, suitable for all ages, and with that a selection of high quality, home made food. The focus of our team is to provide a quality experience in all areas of the service, and we strive to ensure that if there are issues that they are resolved as soon as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions- Are you a dog friendly pub?
- Yes, the Market Tavern is fully available for customers to bring their well behaved dogs. We do supply water and some treats, and all we ask is that you respect other diners and keep your dog on a lead in the pub and garden area. We do reserve the right to ask you to move or take dogs outside if other customers are being interrupted by barking or free roaming dogs.
- Is your pub accessible for wheelchairs?
- Yes. We have a step free entry to the pub and ramps to all areas where needed. Disabled toilets are located near the bar area. The garden is also wheelchair accessible. If assistance is required please just ask a member of staff.

Love the market tavern, service excellent and food excellent. The little moans no fish pie ran out Saturday our visit was Sunday and no lemon fever-tree . Whilst appreciate tavern is dog friendly really do not want large dog sniffing around table whilst eating. I am a dog lover but not whilst eating. Cauliflower cheese deliciousness on a plate.

There was only one problem when we were shown to the table it had been pushed against the wall and there wasn’t any room to pull the chairs out there were three chairs facing the wall and one in the end wasn’t practical at all but we were given another table .

This quirky venue offers comfortable outdoor space even in the summer rain. The little booths outside with their individual lighting and heating were idea for a summers rainy evening.

I love the changes to the bar area, very welcoming. We received the usual high standard of service - non obtrusive due to the wonderful doorbell system.

This is a quirky pub with its little dining booths and nostalgic miscellaneous pieces adorning the shelves and walls. We found it a little cold and used some of the blankets provided.
staff were doing their very best to help us and make us feel welcome, and some good music helped to lift our spirits.
Our order was brought promptly and the Liver, Stew and Salmon dinners were all hot and good sized portions too, and tasty.
Pudding was eagerly looked forward to and equally lovely although I wasnt fond of the apples pieces baked in their skins just my own preference; and the caramel sauce helped the dairy free pastry was a little hard (10\10 ) by the way for even having a dairy free option that wasnt Sorbet ! We were cheeky and asked for more custard

An intriguing venue with friendly staff providing good service. Ambience is quirkily and homely. I’ve always been reluctant to leave, but when I do I am always well fed and satisfied. A venue for sharing with friends.

The pub was so cosy and different, the food was great we waited a while for our food due to some issue in the kitchen but everyone was very apologetic and they gave us the starters free. Really lovely place

Wonderful service and great food. The Coronation chicken amount was a little short for the price and the salt was all damp and couldn’t be used. These two things can be easily corrected. We had a lovely meal, thank you.

Food was very good service was slow to start took a while for drinks to arrive- pre booked food and all was great asked for the bill twice but went to the bar in the end to pay as it was extremely hot in there due to weather and children getting restless it was a concern as didn’t want to disturb other diners- would definitely return and recommend

The food was lovely as were the staff, but the front of pub singer and accompanying person spoilt our lunch! It was depressing, dull and loud. We asked to have the ‘music’ turned down not realising it was a live band!! We enjoy chatting with our friends at lunch, not getting irritated with awful singing. Also we had someone else’s drinks put on our bill which was not good. It was rectified but a good job we checked the bill.
