We are a local pub, built on the idea of delivering good food, good drinks and a good atmosphere.
We pride ourselves on using local products wherever possible. By supporting local business we hope to give back to the community as much as we can.
We aim to provide customers with a friendly atmosphere, suitable for all ages, and with that a selection of high quality, home made food. The focus of our team is to provide a quality experience in all areas of the service, and we strive to ensure that if there are issues that they are resolved as soon as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions- Are you a dog friendly pub?
- Yes, the Market Tavern is fully available for customers to bring their well behaved dogs. We do supply water and some treats, and all we ask is that you respect other diners and keep your dog on a lead in the pub and garden area. We do reserve the right to ask you to move or take dogs outside if other customers are being interrupted by barking or free roaming dogs.
- Is your pub accessible for wheelchairs?
- Yes. We have a step free entry to the pub and ramps to all areas where needed. Disabled toilets are located near the bar area. The garden is also wheelchair accessible. If assistance is required please just ask a member of staff.

Booked table for a birthday lunch. Staff were friendly and attentive as soon as we stepped through the door. Very reasonably priced lunches on offer. After the meal our party moved to the armchairs at the front of the pub for a coffee. A very enjoyable Birthday, would highly recommend.

Excellent waiting staff, polite, attentive, helpful, friendly.
We did wait over 45 minutrs for our roast dinners thoigh, and they were missing the yorkshire puddings. Potatoe wedges had been left out and were dried oit, and the pork was over cooked, and cracklin was too hard to eat. Seems food is being cooked in advance, then left and being re-heated!
Needs a larger portion of roast potatoes as only had 4 small ones, and there was no other potatoe portion of mash, new, boiled etc, so wasnt enough really.
Prices are expensive, £5 for a side order of roast potatoes, and £7.50 for a desert.
Would still recommend for good quality of food overall and helpful friendly staff.
Just a couple of issues in the kitchen need to be addressed.

Love the market tavern, service excellent and food excellent. The little moans no fish pie ran out Saturday our visit was Sunday and no lemon fever-tree . Whilst appreciate tavern is dog friendly really do not want large dog sniffing around table whilst eating. I am a dog lover but not whilst eating. Cauliflower cheese deliciousness on a plate.

There was only one problem when we were shown to the table it had been pushed against the wall and there wasn’t any room to pull the chairs out there were three chairs facing the wall and one in the end wasn’t practical at all but we were given another table .

I love the changes to the bar area, very welcoming. We received the usual high standard of service - non obtrusive due to the wonderful doorbell system.
I was having a business meeting with a colleague and the privacy of the booth meant we could discuss and chat without the background noise of the other customers. Always my first choice for a good lunch / meal out

I have had several great experiences at the Market Tavern. The food is excellent and the staff are lovely. I particularly love how great the Market Tavern are with dietary requirements. I find it stressful sometimes going for food as I have requirements among my family to work around but we always have great choices here catering to gluten free, vegetarian and dairy free.

An enjoyable experience on this our first visit. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was fine.
Quite a quirky establishment but in a nice way.
We are not great fans of musack but at least the choice of music was to our taste.
