I took my young ladies out for a Mommy/daughter night out Christmas gift. We had a very enjoyable dinner. The entire staff was wonderful. Especially the young man who was there to clean up. I don’t get his name. He took a picture of us by the fireplace and conversed with us while waiting to clear the table. He really made us feel special.

The dining area was dirty. Tables needing to be bussed. Full serving trays of dirty plates and linens near where patrons sat. Obviously not enough staff. No offer of refilling water. 102 dollar bill was asked to be split evenly and was split as 58 dollars each check. Food tasted fine, but the overall experience was very disappointing.

We had a fabulous dinner and celebration at Mario's on Sunday evening. I had last visited Detroit and Mario's in 1974, when I was 16! I was delighted that I could introduce my husband to the restaurant, that I have fond memories of! Gino was our server and we couldn't have been more pleased! He even sang a little opera for us! We're so glad we had a memorable dining experience!

Not as good as it use to be for the prices charged. Pretty sure the artichokes on the Piccata were from a jar and there were no capers. Same for my friend’s chicken risotto - piled high with canned mushrooms and no flavor. Very disappointing. Surprised we were settled in the bar area given I had a reservation.

Mario's is a Detroit jewel. Inventor of Zip Sauce. Filet and Sea Bass were excellent and prices are very reasonable. Now the needs improvement: 1) had to ask for water refills. 2) Wine menu was very out-of-date. Asked for a 1999 and they no longer had it. The 2013 was now a 2015. 3) Please upgrade Salt and Pepper to the small grinders we see often. They don't need to be refilled and we don't have to ask for a pepper grinder.

We booked the shuttle to the Opera House, and although we were out in front at 7pm, the shuttle already left because it was full! By the time it returned and got us to the Opera House, we were almost late for the performance. We got to our seats with less than 1 minute until the lights dimmed.
Then out in front waiting and waiting after the performance until the shuttle arrived to take us back. Not a seamless experience at all. It looked like there was another van in the parking lot, but not enough staff to take it out? Broken? You needed to have 2 vans for the number of people.

The $30 for $60 deal was deceiving. I purchased 3 certificates equaling to $180. Our bill came out to $221.
I was only allowed to use 1 certificate.
It never stated 1 certificate for a couple. We had a. Party of 3

This was our first time at Mario 's. The waitress was fine however she never explained the menu
I stated after she took our order it says soup is included. What are the choices? This would have been good to know. My husband's steak was good however the potato was cold and dried out. My fish was good and served hot. The staff member bringing the bread and water was very friendly and very nice. We are not from Detroit however we dine there when we come to the theater or sometimes just because.
I don't think the wait staff should be only interested in your regulars. Didn't make us want to come back.

Food was good, but not exceptional. Service was good but not exceptional. Our waiter was nice, but never talked to us, didn't ever ask us if we were good or needed anything and was just aggressively busy in all of his mannerisms. Was good, glad we went, but would prefer to try other places before we would go back again.

Food was excellent; our waiter not do much. He seemed hostile, did not communicate clearly and did not check in on us very often. When I complained about him, he ended up deciding what his tip should be and gilled it in on the receipt!
Finally, although I enjoy the 50’s feeling of the place, it could use some sprucing up.
BaTE, we have had this waiter before, and he wasn’t any better the first time.

This was my first visit to Mario's, I heard great things about his place. The food was good, the service was meh, our server didn't seem like he was happy to be there or wait in us, but whatever. The other thing that was pretty disappointing was that I purchased a two gift cards at $30 each. This was a promo where Mario's was offering $60 card for $30-which is a great deal. When I presented the two cards, the server said he could only accept one. I looked over the promo again, and it says NOWHERE on there that only one card can be used per visit. So, I guess we'll go back at some point and redeem the other one. Overall, it was a decent experience, bu it could have been better as far as the service.

We 3 women reserved a 5:30 time slot offered prior to taking the complimentary shuttle to the 7:30 performance of Wicked. While there were mixed reviews of the entrees ordered between the 3 of us, it was the attitude of the maitre d who rushed us to finish our meals as, “the shuttle was leaving”; we cashed out by 6:48. We then proceeded to sit on the shuttle for 12 minutes before it left for the Opera House. We are 3 professional women who have succeeded at time management only to have the condescending attitude of the house manager move us along. If time is a factor, then offer a 5 o’clock reservation; 4 pm is too early and 5:30 is apparently too late.
