We started our journey back in the Kitchen of our sharing flat. We had absolutely no idea what we were doing. Our first pot of sushi rice was horrible. My lips puckered, everything was sour and sticky and I wanted to give up (and throw up) right then and there. But, I decided to give it a few more tries. And I found a love and passion I never knew before. My friends and family absolutely loved the flavors I came up with and soon, an idea sprouted in my head: To open my own restaurant. You see, not only do I love sushi, but I also adore food. Finding fresh and local produce and turning into a culinary masterpiece means just as much to me as creating fantastic sushi. That’s how this wonderful idea came to be. And I couldn’t be happier making good sushi and offering fantastic food.

Stunningly good food at very good prices. Even the miso soup was a cut above. I had the Iberico pork, which was perfectly cooked - slightly pink and tender. We go every time we’re going to a concert or theatre nearby because it’s always guaranteed to be a fantastic meal.

Lovely restaurant. The prawn katsu starter didn't have a katsu sauce with it but some other sauce. I ordered duck donnuri and the duck was lovely but the rice and vegetables were quite plain. Would have been nice to have a sauce on the rice.

The staff was lovely and the food, insanely good. We have removed two stars for service (i) plates were not all served at the same time, we had one person waiting for their main and one waiting for the dessert and we had to chase the waitress as it was more than a 5min wait each time. (ii) the dessert was served and all that we could smell is a strong odour of bleach. Bar those two instances, it was lovely, we will recommend it and we will be back!

Been visiting Bentoya for a few years now and I always really enjoy the food - especially the crazy salmon roll! I’ve since introduced my boyfriend to trying out new dishes as we’re travelling to Japan shortly. He also approves of Bentoya and loved the tenderness of the chicken yakitori. Nice to see the newly decorated spaces around the restaurant too, it looks great. The only slight feedback would be the music on loop. Other than that I always very much enjoy coming here and the service! :)

My wife and I visited here before a concert at the Usher Hall nearby. The venue is quite small. Although nicely decorated it probably wouldn't be ideal for a romantic dinner. Nonetheless the choice of dishes is extensive enough to meet most people's needs. Quality of food and service were also excellent.

I ordered the A5 Wagyu beef with fried egg and rice, it comes with miso soup as well. It was amazing and the portion was perfect, it wasn't overpriced at all. I highly recommend it! I then ordered the Matcha Ice Cream Mochi as dessert and I devoured it within minutes, it wasn't too sweet which I love, the mochi skin was not too thin or too thick, and it has a really nice chewy texture!!

As a group of 5, each one of us were very satisfied with all aspects of our visit to Bentoya. 2 courses each with drinks and water for £114. The restaurant is small but doesn’t feel cramped. Huge choice of dishes and everything was delicious and plated beautifully. We will definitely be back.

best noodles i have ever had i got the veggie ones! prawn tempura should’ve been a little crispier for me and service was not so good towards the end and waited about 20 mins before getting the bill. noodles are the best i’ve ever had tho and my boyfriend enjoyed his ramen and sushi. spring rolls were also yummy but not sure if they were handmade or not as they looked like frozen ones. however one of the best meals i’ve had lately

We had a really lovely time. We had booked and we were glad as they were very busy. Great atmosphere but quite tight space wise if this isn't your thing. Food was amazing. We all loved what we had. Only thing was my Son's chicken gyozas were covered in sweet chilli sauce, I don't think it was stated on the menu. He was annoyed but they didn't go to waste. Staff were very friendly and hard working and we felt it was really good value for money.
