Launched in 2009, The Edinburgh Larder Café has built a solid reputation as being the place to eat seasonal, locally sourced, and tasty food in the heart of the city. We’re not shy to mention that we’re well known for our legendary brunch too!
Our regular favourites include a mighty full breakfast, veggie breakfast, eggs benedict or smoked cod, chorizo, and potato hash with a poached egg. We also love lighter options like a buttery breakfast bap or our porridge cooked to order with a selection of seasonal toppings and toasted nuts. All to be enjoyed with expertly crafted coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice.
We make our coffee with love and care using beans roasted locally. Our teas are blended by Edinburgh based Eteaket. We have a range of Scottish craft beer and delicious local soft drinks too.
Our staff all love to bake, so seasonal cakes are a specialty of ours. Our dark chocolate and nut brownies are regularly hailed as the best in town and are always gluten-free – though you would never know!

Booking Notes:
Please be aware we have a strict 24 hour cancelation policy and tables are held for 10 minutes past the booking time, at which point the table is released.
We're a small café and struggle to answer the phone during service, we can only accommodate groups up to 8.

Tables are available for 1 hour slots.
Our Brunch menu is served until 3pm each day. If you would like a table for coffee and a cake please book from 2pm onwards.

I loved the Edinburgh Larder. Locally sourced ingredients, delicious dishes, great atmosphere and a really friendly, helpful team. I had the breakfast and it was delicious. I couldn’t make my original booking and they were really helpful in rearranging. This really was a highlight of my trip and definitely the best breakfast!

This is a great little lunch spot, just off the Royal Mile. Friendly. Good, honest, tasty food. If I was being really picky, the menu was a bit confusing with breakfast continuing into lunch but then other things coming in and some on the boards, and the cushions on the benches were a bit of a pfaff - you really need proper padding to sit on, but it has a good feel, and the soup was really tasty and the folk really friendly

We reserved our table and were seated right away on arrival. Staff were friendly and had time for a chat although they are always busy. Our server made sure we had everything we wanted. Food was excellent as usual. Husband had full breakfast and I had eggs florentine. Both meals were great- eggs were poached perfectly. Anytime we visit Edinburgh we book a table for breakfast and have never been disappointed. Looking forward to our next visit

A delightful breakfast. We were pleased that we booked, given the queue outside in the rain for the walk-in tables. The plates are notably generous, so be prepared for a proper meal. The only slight gripe from certain members of our party, was that it was rather smokey inside.

Hi there, I had a lovely first time experience at brunch with the Blackfriars St Larder. The only reason I've not ranked 10/10 for all aspects is because I ordered a Cortado coffee but was given something between a flat white and a latte. I probably should have said something at the time, but it was super busy. We were in Edinburgh for only two days and we visited the Edinburgh Larder twice. That should say it all!
Everything about the experience is perfect! The service was wonderful, the food was beautiful and delicious, and the atmosphere is cozy and so cute.
We had the waffles, the something royal with salmon, the porridge, and the lunch board. Just exquisite!
One of the women gave us a great list if other restaurants and things to see. Just an example of their overall kindness and outstanding customer service. We can’t wait to come back!
Please don’t ever change, Edinburgh Larder. Don’t ever move to a larger location. You’ll lose the magic!

What a great place , was very busy so pleased we booked our table. The staff were very friendly. The full breakfast was excellent and the homemade beans were great! An excellent breakfast with lots of different choices. What we liked most was the ability to book in advance, something not generally available at other breakfast cafes. In terms of improvement, I would suggest just 2 items - Offer Fresh Orange Juice, even if it is Tropicana fresh chilled - the other is to offer scramble egg, which I know is a little more work than poached.

We loved our breakfasts at The Larder. The meals are large and tasty. Seriously - the black pudding is scrumptious! Just read the menu before you book to make certain you will be pleased with what is on offer as it is a small place and the menus are somewhat limited.
