Launched in 2009, The Edinburgh Larder Café has built a solid reputation as being the place to eat seasonal, locally sourced, and tasty food in the heart of the city. We’re not shy to mention that we’re well known for our legendary brunch too!
Our regular favourites include a mighty full breakfast, veggie breakfast, eggs benedict or smoked cod, chorizo, and potato hash with a poached egg. We also love lighter options like a buttery breakfast bap or our porridge cooked to order with a selection of seasonal toppings and toasted nuts. All to be enjoyed with expertly crafted coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice.
We make our coffee with love and care using beans roasted locally. Our teas are blended by Edinburgh based Eteaket. We have a range of Scottish craft beer and delicious local soft drinks too.
Our staff all love to bake, so seasonal cakes are a specialty of ours. Our dark chocolate and nut brownies are regularly hailed as the best in town and are always gluten-free – though you would never know!

Booking Notes:
Please be aware we have a strict 24 hour cancelation policy and tables are held for 10 minutes past the booking time, at which point the table is released.
We're a small café and struggle to answer the phone during service, we can only accommodate groups up to 8.

Tables are available for 1 hour slots.
Our Brunch menu is served until 3pm each day. If you would like a table for coffee and a cake please book from 2pm onwards.

One of the best brunches I have ever had. Generous portions, quality food, perfect chai latte, very competitive pricing for the standards of the city. Also, the only restaurant that told us we could remove the charging for service, if we did not want to give it. Of course we gave it, with all of our heart. Well done, guys.

We prebooked as this place gets so busy and it's understandable because the food is delicious! The service was friendly, we enjoyed a relaxed lunch after receiving a recommendation and we were not disappointed. We paid about £35 for two huge doorstep chicken sandwiches and a cup of homemade soup plus a pot of tea. Perhaps on the pricier side for lunch but well worth it. Will definately visit again when next in Edinburgh.

Went on recommendation, and booked in advance as always fully booked.
Had the full Scottish and can definitely recommend, always refrained from having black pudding and Haggis but just went along with it was the best part of the breakfast.
Service was exceptional great menu full of flavour, make sure you book there is a walk-in service next door but I guarantee you will want to go back so maybe book twice.

If I could give the service 1000 stars, I would. We went to The Edinburgh Larder for a birthday breakfast for my partner. The service went above and beyond. The server allowed me to place a birthday candle in the full Scottish breakfast. The manager/owner came over and wished my partner a happy birthday and even included some delicious sweet treats for us. The food was great and I appreciate the local sourcing. Amazing experience!

We’ve visited this eatery a couple of times now, and I can easily say this is one of the best places I’ve been for breakfast whilst visiting Edinburgh.
It’s wise to book, we did and I glad. From the time we arrived, people were either being told to try the adjoining restaurant ‘Little Larder’ or try later.
I had a Full Breakfast and my wife had Eggs Royale. These were both extremely filling.
The Larder used locally sourced ingredients, which seem to taste a lot better.
The atmosphere was brilliant. The talking of people, different languages and also the cosiness and what I liked was being able to see the kitchen and the busyness of the kitchen staff.
Overall a lovely hidden gem. I will be going back!
