We came for a birthday brunch and were not disappointed. Both the service and the food were amazing. I even got gifted a slice of cake for my birthday which was a lovely gesture that made me very happy (i love my cakes :)).
I will definitely return and strongly recommend you try their brunch menu!

It has been nearly 2 years since we last ate at Ostara. The decor has change but the relaxed atmosphere remains. The food was delicious. A small but very interesting menu with a few new and a few old favourites. I am so pleased that it has survived the last 18 months of this pandemic. I wish it’s owners and staff continued success.

We could not fault our recent dining experience here. Although at first glance the menu seemed quite limited and nothing immediately jumped out at me, when the food arrived every course was imaginative, full of flavour & delicious. The coffee with the affogato to finish was outstanding. The service was very pleasant and attentive without being intrusive and the ambience was lovely and relaxing. I look forward to returning before too long hopefully.

Good food served in a beautiful setting. Service was just right, attentive without being overbearing. Table spacing was perfect, we felt very comfortable. Lovely day time cafe that really does translate to an evening venue. The food was outstanding and the wine list very good. All on a small scale which is why everyhing was such a high standard. Cafe Ostara has always been a special place. The lighting made it work for dinner with candles. I would have liked it to be a bit warmer but next time I'll just dress accordingly, that's my only slight gripe. It was such good value for money and so nice and quiet so that you could talk and relax but with enough people to give it atmosphere. This is going to be my new favourite place!

Great little restaurant with small but very tasty menu and incredible value for money - 2 course lunch £!5, 3 course £20. Sadly no monkfish available due to an unexpected supply issue but the melt in your mouth pork cheeks were delicious and my veggie daughter would highly recommend the Moroccan bulger wheat salad. Staff very welcoming. friendly and efficient. We'll be back.

Really glad we booked for breakfast after seeing it through the lockdown. The room is light and relaxed and the coffee was great.
Breakfast-wise, the hash was excellent, the mushrooms and pesto I'd say were over seasoned and more toast would've been a good thing all around but it's a cool place with pleasant folk.

We booked it for Sunday lunch for 6 people and we all absolutely loved the food and were very impressed. Service was amazing as well. It is a great gem in Edinburgh! Highly recommend it
