Frequently Asked Questions- Are kids allowed in the Theatre Royal Bar?
- Due to Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 children and young persons age 5-17 are permitted entry only to the dining area for purpose of having a meal, while accompanied by responsible adult. Time permitted: daily until 8pm. Children under age of 5 are not allowed on the premises.
- Does the Theatre Royal Bar has disable / wheelchair access & toilet?
- Although our bar is situated on the ground floor, our toilets are located one floor below and require stairs to access. Due to the nature of our building (listed building), we are unable to provide Disable toilet. We do apologise for any inconvenience.
- I have a table booked, but running late. Will you keep table for me?
- Please contact us should you be delayed, as late arrivals can disrupt service. Should you not arrive within 15 minutes of your booking time, the table may be released without further notice.
- Do I need a proof of age to enter premises or to buy alcohol?
- AGE VERIFICATION POLICY Due to Licensing Law, anyone looking age 25 or under will be requested to provide proof of age. We accept below documents: - a passport - a ‘photo-card’ driving licence - a national identity photo-card. No under 18yo is allowed on premises after 8pm.
- Do you show live sports on Tv?
- We only show major, national sport events: Golf- The Masters, The Open, U.S Open. Tennis- Wimbledon. Rugby- 6 Nations, British & Irish Lions Tour, World Cup. Football- Euros, World Cup. Olympic Games. All above depends on times and tv coverage.
- Do I have to wear mask while in the bar?
- Yes, upon arrival, when leaving a table or moving around venue you must wear a mask covering nose and mouth. You can take off your mask while seated. Those rules are in place to protect our staff and customers.

The Theatre Royal is our traditional stopping off venue ahead of the rugby at Murrayfield, and is inevitably busy on match day. But the staff coped admirably, the beer is always well kept, and the food (especially the liver'n'bacon ... with extra gravy) was brilliant. We really appreciated the staff helping us to catch the football on TV (before the rugby started !!) ....
