When the Golden Ox Restauurant opened it's doors in 1949 it's purpose was to furnish a good place to dine for the ranchers and farmers who brought their livestock to the stockyards. The tradition lives on today, The Golden Ox is located on the first floor of the Livestock Exchange Building in the heart of the stockyards. Our professional staff serves the highest quality steaks and is one of the few restaurants that continues to have its steaks aged and hand cut.

At his request, took my son here for his 21st birthday dinner. Jill made sure he was treated like royalty. We had a nice Spanish red wine, stuffed mushrooms, a KC Strip (because KC history), a baked potato (fluffy and seasoned just right) and the garlic and parsley fries. Everything was perfectly prepared and presented. All the staff we interacted with knew in advance that it was a birthday treat and wished him happy birthday. The surprise of pistachio cheesecake with a candle was the crowning glory for the meal. A great memory was made... thanks Golden Ox!
