Hot chocolate we ordered didn't have an almond milk option. So we had to choose between milk and soy. We are both affected by milk so soy was only option. It wasn't preferred and it tasted awful.
Apple strudel was not very good. Could hardly taste or see the apple pieces.

I cannot fault this place. I took my partner here to give her a taste of the Hungarian cuisine. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was amazing. I recommend the platter with samples of 7 dishes, which was enough for the two of us. Exquisite food priced reasonably, friendly service, what's not to like? Had a great chat with one of the staff, Oliver.
Next time we're in Melbourne, we'll definitely come back. If we lived in Melbourne I'd eat here regularly.

We love coming to Budapest ~ It’s our new family restaurant. The ambiance is not super fancy, but it’s exactly what we want: warm and friendly. The food is DELICIOUS! My only feedback would be that the soup isn’t as hot as I would like.(Perfect for the kids, but not me.) Serving it hotter would be better as soup can cool if you wait a bit, but when it isn’t hot enough when served, it’s never hot enough. Great service!

Food was excellent! The servers were very friendly and spoke in Hungarian to my father, who misses getting to speak in it. The korozott was delicious and very more-ish, and the cevapcici was perfectly seasoned. The goulash was thicker than expected, more Austrian-style than the Hungarian soup, but the nokedli that came with it were so yummy that I'd recommend ordering an extra side dish of them!

We know this restaurant for many years and visit it at least once or twice a year.
I haven’t left any reviews before but this time decided to leave one. We visited this restaurant yesterday and as always it was a great experience. Very nice Hungarian & Eastern European Jewish food. We ordered Chicken Soup with Hungarian noodles and Matzoh balls, Confit Duck and Schnitzel stuffed with cheese and mushrooms. Delicious! Good choice of alcohol and non-alcohol drinks. Excellent service!
P.S. We went their second time this week. All good except for the portions.
I would suggest the staff to let customers know on the size of the meal.
There are options and if we would know we would order rather starter meal than the full size meals. Goulash was nice but it is a huge size meal which you cannot eat after full size chicken soup and some other entrées.

It was busy and pushed the staff to cope as many a rude fellow customer considered that their order was more important that someone else's - and the staff had to deal with that. They have restricted their menu a little since I was there last which is a little disappointing but many a business has changed as we emerged from COVID. A little over priced, perhaps a sign of the times - but can I fault the food at all - not a chance - would I go there again - yes I absolutely would. I have been visiting this restaurant regularly since coming to Melbourne 6 years ago and love the Budapest offering.

Excellent food and service! The ambience was a bit lacking but understandable given that it’s a bar as well. Really missed having cabbage rolls; (not on the menu) as they are a Hungarian staple. The chicken soup starter was absolutely authentic (like I was at my grandmother’s in Romania) and the strudel was the best that I have ever had. More info should have been given about the dessert special. As it was, we ordered it but did not enjoy it. (Far too many crushed nuts and the dark chocolate sauce was almost overwhelming.) We will definitely return, but order differently. Hope this is helpful.

I have been to this venue several times and have found it quite good. However on that last occasion 3 out of the four of us in the group were disappointed with the temperature of the meals that we ordered. They were just warm where they should have been steaming and piping hot. Other than that the food was tasty and represented good value. If this happens again will request that my dish be put back in the microwave for a further 60 seconds or so.

Food is always great but there is always a problem at settling the bill time: we wanted to split the bill but it all seemed "too hard" unfortunately!

We enjoyed the experience as we have over many years coming to Budapest. However, we were very disappointed the stuffed schnitzels only came in pork. Given its very Jewish suburb we were surprised you didn't have a veal option. My wife tried to recreate it with various condiments but it's not the same. And the liver options have gone too from what we remember of the old menu. We drive almost 45 mins to get there but the no veal stuffed schnitzel option may mean we are less likely to visit again.

As in the past the food was delicious, and plentiful. I booked by phone as we were a group of 7 adults and 4 small children. It was not until I was called back the day before our booking that I learned that there was a $40 minimum for weekends. I was told that this information was clearly listed on the website - however one needs to go several pages into the website to find this - not something most people do, and I was not told about it when I made my original phone booking. Furthermore, on the website it says that bookings from 6:00pm onwards are subject to this minimum charge, and we booked for 5:30. I was also told (the day before) that we could only stay 1 1/2 hours. We ate as quickly as we could, and the wait staff were very good, and very friendly. However, they came to take dessert orders only 15 minutes before we were due to get out - they didn't remind us that we needed to leave soon and therefore we were obviously running over time by the time they brought dessert, and we were then rushed through the departure and the people downstairs who were presumably taking our table made rude remarks to my son as he went past. I appreciate that this is a difficult time for businesses, and restaurants need to maximize their turnover. However, I would have appreciated a fuller disclosure of ALL the information at the time of my initial phone booking, rather than having it sprung on me the day before we arrived.

The portion size was very generous and well cooked schnitzels. The space at the table was a little cramped. The variety of choices is amazing and the place has a great family atmosphere.
