Opened in 1995 as the first true Italian/Sardinian cafe, we have served traditional Sardinian foods, but we’ve never stopped innovating and making exciting Sardinian themed dishes. We hope to take you away from today’s hectic lifestyle and offer you the chance to linger over dishes that use the finest and freshest ingredients, imported directly from Italy or locally-sourced suppliers.

We pride ourselves on providing good service, and good quality food and drink at affordable prices, despite the economical recession we’ve managed to maintain our rock bottom, very modest prices.

Stalida is a family-run taverna owned by the Truta family. Billy and Selena met on the island of Crete in the resort of Stalida on the northeast coast in 2001 and ran a seaside restaurant 'Maistrali' for eight years. Maistrali restaurant After returning to the UK in 2011 for their twins, Matthew and Alexander, to go to school, they whetted appetites with 'Billy Bites', a Greek takeaway serving gyros pittas, souvlaki and more... We look forward to welcoming you to our little corner of Crete here in Hexham, along with the rest of our friendly team.
