I normally don’t respond to evaluations, but this was over the top. It is a real gem hidden in a neighborhood. All four of had what was for us unfamiliar dishes and they were all great. We will return often.

What a cozy place to be on a chill evening in the Portland neighborhood of Lair Hill. Our server took care to understand allergy needs, communicated with the kitchen, served the chef's delightful authentic Ecuadorian dishes...and added a personal touch by talking with us about the origin of the restaurant, the recipes and the decor of this sweet place to enjoy a simple, homey, friendly dinner with friends.

(I do not want this review published; it is only for the Amora staff.)
This was my third time eating at Amora. My first two times were great. This one was disappointing. Service was quite slow, despite there only being one other party in the restaurant. When our food arrived, one of the four people in our group didn’t receive her food for nearly ten more minutes. This was very annoying.
I ordered the seafood stew, which I’ve had twice before. The stock for the stew was very good, but the large pieces of “fish” appeared to be chicken. I usually don’t eat meat (other than fish). However, given how slow the service had been, I did not want to send the food back or even raise any questions about it. The dessert, as the previous times, was excellent.
My one other complaint was that the music was too loud—we had a hard time hearing each other.
We will likely return to Amora (we live nearby) to give them another chance. I hope the service returns to how it was during our first two visits.

The best dish we had was the ceviche. The other dishes could have more seasoning. The restaurant space is very nice and the waiter was conscientious. This is a good little neighborhood restaurant.
