Azuma Japanese Cuisine, located on Stevens Creek Boulevard and North Portal Street, is a restaurant that stays true to Japanese traditions. The restaurant is a far cry from those flashy sushi bars serving Dragon or Philadelphia rolls. At Azuma, guests can be sure to find dishes that are staples of Japanese home-cooking. Deep fried Chicken Karaage and Alaskan Black Cod Kasuzuke are menu favorites, but Azuma’s most ordered menu item is the Agedashi Tofu. This fried tofu preparation is a dish of few ingredients, but is prepared using a technique that Azuma’s chefs have perfected. The Agedashi appetizer is served with grated daikon, hot tentsuyu and dried bonito flakes. For those wanting full immersion in Japanese dining traditions, tatami seating is available on the floor, where guests comfortably sit on pillows while dining. Other seating is provided at the sushi bar, where sashimi and nigori are made for both lunch and dinner.
