Tucked away in Redwood City just south of San Francisco is John Bentley’s, a new American restaurant focusing on sustainably seasonal ingredients, meat and seafood. Whether it’s appetizers like the Molasses Lacquered Pork Belly, Grilled Watermelon Salad, Spicy Tuna Tartare or the Baby Iceberg Salad, over 10 different starters cover the first course of freshness. Entrees are very encompassing with Seared Day Boat Scallops, Grilled Marinated Rib-Eye, Crispy Sweet Breads and House made Spinach Fettuccine. While learning from his mentor Joseph Roettig at Lipizzaner in The City, Bentley grew to love the connection between the customer and the kitchen and that is apparent through the service and elegant atmosphere. Open Monday through Saturday for dinner service and Monday through Friday for lunch, John Bentley’s offers sophistication, seasonal fare and stellar service and is a place that diners shouldn’t pass up.
