The Cliff House sits on a bluff over Commencement Bay in Northeast Tacoma boasting panoramic views of Mount Rainier, the Puget Sound, and the Tacoma skyline. Since 1925 the Cliff House has been a landmark in the Pacific Northwest.

We proudly serve USDA Prime and Certified Angus beef and the freshest Northwest seafood daily, come and join us for an elegant culinary experience.

Booking Notes:

Reservations within one hour of closing time may be seated in our downstairs dining room with a view.
We do our best to accommodate special requests, but they cannot be guaranteed.
Tables are reserved for 1 hour 30 minutes for parties up to 4 guests, and 1 hour 45 minutes for parties of 5 or more guests, with the exception of holidays.

Went to the Cliff House to celebrate an anniversary. It was a beautiful day, and our table looked out over Commencement Bay. We have been there before but not in the daylight and really enjoyed the view this time. Everything was perfect, from the ambience and the food to the service. We need to get out to the Cliff House more often. We even discussed bringing out of town family here sometime.

The last 2 visits the batter on my Calamari was not golden (too) dark brown and too crispy. Possibly the oil or overcooked. Last visit the fried oysters were the same - too brown and too crispy. Also, the oysters were very small with too much batter.

Had a lovely evening celebrating our 47th wedding anniversary. We hadn't been to the Cliff House for over 30 years, not because we didn't enjoy it, but because it's a bit of a drive from our home. We were reminded what a special place it is, and the food is as good or better than before! Our waitress was delightful; the view is terrific, and our drinks and food were hard to beat. Overall, excellent evening - we need to get back there more often!

We loved meeting the chef and that he came over to our table to introduce himself. That made everything perfect. The french fries could be a little bit more fancy and not shoestring. And it'd be nice to know that the bread before the meal cost money. But that the chef was so kind and friendly made everything worth it.

We celebrated a birthday at the Cliff House and all I can say is that not only was the food absolutely amazing but so was the service. They brought out a beautiful birthday cannoli for my girlfriend and went out of their way to make a delicious cup of espresso for her. I highly recommend The Cliff House.

Our great experiences started when we first found this place after moving up from Phoenix. They never disappoint here! Last night's special was incredible! We came for dinner at Cliffhouse to celebrate our 20th anniversary, and it was awesome! We arrived a little early and the hostess was able to seat us right away. The kitchen was slammed by trivia night in the bar, but our waitress let us know what was going on and gave us our choice of free appetizer while we waited. The ambience was so great we didn’t mind. Then to top it off the kitchen sent us some cannoli with “happy anniversary” written in strawberry glaze. So good!

I had the lobster and shrimp fettuccini. It was amazing. The shellfish was tender. The lobster sauce was buttery and creamy. I'm still floating on the memory of how good it was. I also had the lemon cello cake. Yum. The wait staff was attentive, helpful, and friendly. One of our party is gluten free and they were accommodating. One of our party is 11 years old. He wanted extra maraschino cherries and they were sweet about that too. We're talking about going back soon.

The only downside was that we were seated right in front of/behind 4 people who arrived at the same time & it was a little difficult to have a conversation without including them as we felt like we got a great update on their present & future travel plans, etc., I’m sure this was done to make things easier on service but the restaurant wasn’t very full & would’ve been better a table or 2 away

Excellent! The view at night is spectacular. We brought a friend who had not been to the Cliff House and he enjoyed it. The food was great - for me, I especially liked the fettucine with the lobster. We'll hopefully be back soon.

Beautiful place and view. Wait staff was awesome. I used to come here as a child with my family. My son brought me back for my birthday, 45 years later. I had a great time. Beautiful time.

our server Ciara deserves extra notice, as she was excellent. She was prompt, friendly and had a fabulous can-do attitude. She made our birthday dinner extra special. I appreciated that Cliff House was able to accommodate my certain dietary restrictions, and the food was excellent and plentiful.

We used to enjoy the Cliff house several times per month but then your food went downhill. This was before the COVID set-in. Ashley our server was wonderful! Can't say enough about her. The food was great at the restaurant. However, my wife had some pretty serious digestive issues through the night and we had nothing else after the dinner. I didn't look at the menu and pricing before I booked and that's on me. As good as everything was, it was an extraordinarily expensive meal. As much as we enjoyed our service, with the issues my wife dealt with after, and the cost for your items, we will not be back.
