San Diego's Take on Sunday Brunch

Brunch Items

Typically practiced on Sundays, the often overlooked and underappreciated meal of brunch combines a late breakfast with an early lunch. If you haven’t taken brunch in a while, here are a few San Diego hotspots that will make you wonder why brunch is only practiced one day a week.

Brunch menus are popping up all over San Diego, including the Gaslamp veteran Café Sevilla. Their diverse brunch menu includes staple breakfast selections as well as typical lunch selections. Whatever you decide to order, you can expect a Spanish influence from this restaurant, nightclub, and tapas bar. Within the brunch menu is a “Tapa Tastings” section that features such Spanish dishes as Tortilla Española and Spicy Spanish Octopus. Brunch drink specials come at a separate charge, and are equally as diverse as the buffet menu, which comes at a price of $24.95. This menu is available Sundays, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. In addition to the Spanish vibe, Café Sevilla is known for its convenient location by tourist must-sees such as Horton Plaza and the Convention Center, which all equates to an amazing Sunday.

If you’re in the mood for ocean views and a seafood-centralized brunch menu, Humphrey’s on Shelter Island Drive is the way to go. The restaurant boasts an amazing ocean view as well as live music and an award-winning Sunday brunch. While this brunch is a little pricier at $39.95 a person, it comes with endless champagne. The brunch options again include a variety of breakfast and lunch specials, including fresh seafood options such as shrimp, oysters, and crab claws. This brunch is available only on Sundays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm with special brunches offered on select holidays. Reservations are recommended for this brunch hotspot.

Indigo Grill’s brunch menu is not offered in buffet style, but instead has individual prices ranging from $10-$13 for entrée items.
