Wham! Pow! Comic-Con Lunch Specials

Gaslamp District

Whether you are dressing up like Spiderman, sitting in on one of many panel discussions, or just happen to be in the Gaslamp Quarter, downtown restaurants will be offering specials for the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con International. The yearly gathering attracts more than 130,000 comic and popular arts fans a day and local restaurants will be looking to feed the influx of visitors.

Located just a few steps from the San Diego Convention Center is The Palm restaurant, one of America's premier Italian-American steakhouses. Typically only open on Fridays for lunch service, they will be extending their hours to accommodate convention goers. Beginning Monday July 18th, The Palm will be open for lunch service, 11:30am to 3:00pm, through the entirety of Comic-Con, ending Sunday July 24th. In addition to a wide selection of burgers and sandwiches you can order The Palm's twist on a classic Louie Salad which features Nova Scotia lobster and avocado.

Comic-Con fans can also watch Marvel artist Humberto Ramos add art to the restaurant's walls. Caricatures and art can be found at all of The Palm's locations, with the tradition beginning in 1920's. The original New York Palm was in close proximity to a large artist's hub, where artists would often pay for their meal by painting an original piece on the wall. The tradition will continue on July 20th, at 2:00pm, when Ramos will furnish the San Diego location with some signature works.

Those looking to venture a little further from the Convention Center can travel north on 5th Avenue to Urban Bar and Grill. They will be participating in the excitement of this year's convention by offering a special lunch menu. Available on their patio from 12:00pm to 4:00pm during Comic-Con is a special menu with all items priced below $10. In addition to standard bar fare like sliders, Caesar salads, and club sandwiches, Urban is serving a Spinach Salad topped with summer strawberries, cherry tomatoes, and blue cheese.

Be a true hero this Comic-Con and save your friends and family a few dollars at these local eateries.
