Acqua Al 2, pronounce ('ah-qwa-all-doo-eh'), first opened its doors in the bustling, historic theater district, Piazza della Signoria, in Florence, Italy in 1978. Located on Via dell Acqua #2, the popular hotspot is a meeting place for writers, artists, and influential Florentines to dine on exquisite food and great wine. International celebrities Samuel L. Jackson, Peter Weller, Herbie Hancock, and Lauren Hutton along with influential leaders and world travelers, have all dined on the restaurant's superb Tuscan fare.
Created by owners Stefano Innocenti, Gianni Ravera, and Lucia Degli Innocenti, the trio combined their passions for creative, traditional Italian cuisine with Acqua Al , the most loved dining establishment in Florence. Today, patrons in San Diego enjoy the same environment, ambiance, and authentic Acqua Al 2 cuisine that has drawn travelers, natives, and international celebrities.
Martin Gonzalez studied under Chef Stefano Innocenti while attending the Instituto Culinario in Florence. Learning the secrets of their meals and a variety of cooking techniques, Martin was immediately drawn into the business and continued working with Stefano to form a partnership for Acqua Al 2's international location in San Diego. In September 2000, armed with a new love of Italian cuisine, Gonzalez opened Acqua Al 2 in Gaslamp Quarter district of San Diego Downtown.
